Gender as an ideological construct should not be confused or conflated with the material reality of biological sex. Gender is the vehicle through which misogyny is enacted and normalised.

I think I know who's getting my vote this year!

I’m expecting this weeks Spiked podcast to be hilariously withering.

O'Neill was in the Revolutionary Communist Party.

As was Claire Fox and Munira Mirza - adviser to Boris Johnson.

And Kenan Malik who writes for the Guardian. Kenan thinks culture wars always benefit the Right. The Left should refocus on class.

I was acquainted with Claire in the 80s. It would be an exaggeration to say I knew her really.
She shouted at me on a coach at a Troops Out march. Although , in fairness , she shouted at other people too. Claire is good at shouting. Sometimes you need shouty people I suppose.

Another RCP woman whose names escapes me is running a Tory council in south London afaik. For a tiny group it wields a lot of influence and its alumni have unshakeable self confidence. Like a sort of far left Eton. Such that when they appear in the Lords representing the Brexit Party they can still claim to be republican socialists.

Well why not? The whole thing is like a Punch and Judy show now.

I don't think it's unfair to say that most people on the anarchist left have little interest in theory.

I think it probably is unfair to say that.

' I don't think government is really the way forward ' Mark Zuckerberg.

Surely communist regimes have governments? Even though there’s a dictator at the top there are still people in subordinate positions to carry out orders.

Indeed. The theory is there - whether or not Antifa read it is another matter.

I wasn't talking about Antifa so not sure why your comment is aimed at me. I was talking about organised anarchist groups in the UK.

I think we are actually agreeing - the theory is definitely there.

Please can posters name a country where communism works well? One where leaders don’t still live in the lap of luxury whilst at the same time suppressing the masses?

Oh sorry I misunderstood you as saying anarchist = Antifa.

I was being sarcastic :)

Well spotted. That was exactly my point. Presumably Mr Zuckerberg regards all government as basically Communist and all taxation as theft.

Like most of the 1%.

I’d still be interested to hear and answer to this.

I don’t think it has ever been done anywhere without totalitarianism and authoritarianism.

It is basically the idea of two rather young men isn’t it? Perhaps it is just not practical in real life. Most people who subscribe to communism in youth seem to grow out of it as they gain life experience.

Southwestten · 04/04/2023 18:57

I think everywhere in the world has cottoned on to the fact the West generally doesn’t care about communism but cares a lot about fascism.
Therefore if an authoritarian government/dictatorship call themselves communist they’ll be pretty much left alone.
Imagine if China described itself as fascist - they’d come in for far more criticism over their poor human rights and giving loans to countries such as Sri Lanka which then cannot pay them back.
