Gender as an ideological construct should not be confused or conflated with the material reality of biological sex. Gender is the vehicle through which misogyny is enacted and normalised.

From videos I have watched on this board in the past few days, TRAs are apparently against and call Nazi/Fascist; women who won’t obey them, homosexuals who won’t obey them, Muslims, Christians, in fact likely anyone belonging to any of the mainstream faiths, Communists, anyone who questions their mantras and beliefs, anyone who questions their methods, anyone who questions their authority, anyone who questions them.

They hurl the insults Nazi and fascist around freely but I doubt they have the first clue about 20th century history. They demonstrate zero understanding of these terms.

Personally I hope the communists don’t show up at LWS because then actual fascists might turn up and that would very likely turn truly unpleasant.

I don't support and I am not a member of any communist party, because I do not believe that state socialism will "give way to communism" or that the state will wither and die under socialism. far from it, the state will act just as the state does now, because the state is inherently interested in its own preservation.

I think there’s usually a Communist on the paper for Holborn St Pancras (Keir Starmer’s) constituency. Although it might be a different brand, People’s Republic of Communist Party or some such. I hope we get done door knocking.

At least we have freedom of speech and aren’t prosecuted for saying negative things about communism. My grandma saw middle class people executed publicly. Stepped over dead bodies in the street from starvation whilst being so skinny she could barely walk. Families losing their businesses and properties. Capitalism isn’t perfect, but at least we don’t live in fear.

It's interesting to point it that in many formally socialist/communist countries what went before was equally terrible, if not worse. Just plucking our out of the air, the Somozas in Nicaragua. Daniel Ortega and the Sandinistas may not have been perfect, but what went before was horrifying.

Comparing communism with democratic free market utopias isn't what the choice was. It was right-wing dictatorship versus communists.

My grandma and her dead relatives wouldn’t agree with you. Her earliest memories are of death and control and restriction. I won’t vote Tory or Labour, but I will never vote for communism.

Worth a read of Ukrainian history before communism. Serfdom until 1861 and turmoil, war and mass emigration after.

I'm not suggesting communism is a good alternative to what we have now. But it's not worse than what went before it in most cases.

If communism was done in smaller countries (Central America if the US hadn't murdered everyone) it might have worked on a small scale. Never would work in large countries.

I believe Magdalen Bern's mother Deborah Lavin was a co founder of the Communist Party of Britain. But I'm not sure what relationship it has with the CP of old ?
