I think in "left wing" circles, CPGB are not seen as the high priests of socialism. I know the Socialist Workers hate them. It's all very "People's Front of Judea" vs "Judean Peoples Front " (for Monty Python fans). Historically this has always been in thing on the far left - right back to Spanish Civil War and further back.

Anyhoo, it's quite bold of CPGB to stick their neck out explicitly on this because it may spark discussion on the left - which the left doesn't want.

I knew for a long time that CPGB had this position but, like GB News, because they are batshit on lots of things, I don't set much stock in it.

Other than an excuse to get the popcorn out.

I mean yes, Communist regimes have been totalitarian ones in recent times. In fairness to the CPGB I imagine they're more along the lines of "to the left of some of the nuttier Corbyn-type" crowd rather than actual Stalinists. Can't imagine I'd vote for them on that basis alone! But still, anyone arguing they're not on the left has lost the plot.

I had to sign a form saying I was not a member of any communist , socialist or affiliated organisation to get a US visa , back in the 70s. Including trade unions.

Having spent time in many US states and having zero desire to return I am happy to declare myself a Marxist. With each passing day I become more left wing and less tolerant of bourgeois identity bollocks.

But this is quite interesting in terms of who is likely to believe in biology isn't it? Transpires that there are people who recognise the material reality of biological sex across the entire political spectrum. All the way from anarchists, the CPB, the Morning Star, many of the mainstream newspapers, all the mainstream political parties (although this lot need to pull their socks up a bit), the religious right in America and Nazis. So AWAs can hardly get away with continuing to imply that GC = aligned with Nazis can they?

I am really enjoying this! On a serious note, their statement is clear and reasonable, what we should be expecting from Labour/SNP/Green Party.
