I don’t know if she can win given it’s been a Labour constituency since it was formed (in 1980s) and was held by Frank Dobson and then Keir Starmer and according to data is a ‘progressive’ constituency, average age 41 and good job security. Interestingly I can’t find data on constituency make up by sex.

I’m not sure she’s expecting to win. She knows she can cause an awful lot of disruption though. And I say bring it on!

Well if enough women want to stand and get enough nominations to support their candidacy I don't see why they should restrict them.

The aim is not to win seats but to get the message out there.

If I may, there is one amazing reason not to restrict them: party political broadcasts.

I (briefly) scanned the rules on OFGEM, and it says, ^[r]egistered parties should qualify for a PEB if they are contesting one sixth or more of the
seats up for election in the case of first-past-the-post, multi-constituency elections such as
a General Election.^

So, if we can raise the money to put POW candidates in one sixth of 650 seats, KJK is entitled to a party political broadcast on public funded channels like the BBC.

IIRC, it will cost £500 per candidate. Deposit is refundable if you get x% of the vote. 5% I think?

I'd be to embarrassed to stand, I don't think it would be appropriate for me to be haranguing gender idiots on behalf of women... in a public role.

I'll keep a lookout for a local candidate, I'd be happy to try and support her, even if just going to a hustings to clap.

Fukuraptor · 30/03/2023 03:51

Amazing. It does put GC Labour women clinging onto our membership by the last thread in a bit of a spot though, it's against party rules to publicly support a non Labour candidate standing against a Labour candidate during elections.

Not blaming KJK for wanting to do this though!

SinnerBoy · 30/03/2023 05:48

I think it's wonderful that she's going to peel the rotting carpet up and shine some sunlight on the festering maggots beneath.

xabia · 30/03/2023 07:24

How many women are as brave as KJK?
Funding and behind the scenes support are a different matter but most of us have families and jobs.
Ludicrous though it may be this will be seen as a single issue party and will attract the usual mentally disturbed idiots
We can all help with publicity, stickers, conversations with our other candidates.
I hope I'm being over cautious. I wish I was brave.

xabia · 30/03/2023 07:37

By single issue I mean 'anti-trans' instead of 'pro-women'

Childrenofthestones · 30/03/2023 07:40

They could shave a pig, put a red rosette on it and it would still win in that constituency. I think it is more about bringing the fight to his door and forcing the agenda onto the front page.
Another plus is they won't be able to resist showing their true colours wherever kjk turns up to speak.

landOFconfusion · 30/03/2023 07:44

This is great news. There will be so many more opportunities for grift.

Of course I am very disappointed that she didn’t give her new party a snappy name like the British Union of Feminists and chosen an exciting logo like a lightning bolt against a red background.

beastlyslumber · 30/03/2023 07:56

Well done admitting you're a grifter, handofconfusion.

Ooh, so pithy. It’s like Oscar Wilde has come back to life every time you pop onto a thread./s

Against a puddle of red tomato soup perhaps?

Did you know envy and seething long-term can cause actual physical symptoms to manifest.

It lowers IQ, empathy, and humour levels. It leaves its sufferers with the urge to be snarky and nit picky.

It's thankfully not particularly contagious so close contact is OK for short periods of time.

Ha! Well they are going to be busy trying to police all the naughty members then aren't they. Because I will happily let the higher ups knows that as a member I'm voting for someone else!.

I suppose even her detractors spend a lot of head space on her

What a great description of Posie Parker!

You have described her perfectly.

The force of nature that is KJK/PP takes up so much of her detractors thoughts I'm surprised their brains don't explode with all that anger and bile!

SinnerBoy · 30/03/2023 08:30

I think it stays inside, like a bloated carbuncle, periodically spurting some vicious rubbish, to alleviate the pressure.

Datun · 30/03/2023 08:31

Ha! You know when landOFconfusion' fails, yet again, to contain their Incoherent Posie Rancour, she continues to hit her target.

landOFconfusion · 30/03/2023 08:34

Please do donate to Posie’s new political party.

She really needs your money more than you do.

Please give all you can afford. And then give her some more. It’s important that you keep giving. The grift won’t run itself.

Kucinghitam · 30/03/2023 08:35

Poor angry Righteous.

Laladybird · 30/03/2023 08:35

Nigel Farage's tactic was to put pressure on the Conservative Party to adopt a position on Europe and stop fudging it. It took him decades to get that referendum.

That is a luscious description, mainly because I do like carbuncle. It's a very underutilized word!

Carbuncle! Goes off muttering carbuncle repeatedly.

Luckily we’re all married to fantastically rich men and have powerful, well paying jobs of our own in the media.
Plus we’ve got all those Fundiebux sloshing around Should be able to float Posie and ten other orgs for years whilst generating lots of pro terf content for the papers.

Plus many of us donate just to watch landOFconfusion go into one. Worth it at twice the price.

Remind how well that referendum has worked out for everyone?
