Boycott New Zealand

Let's hit the state sanctioned violence against women where it hurts - in their pockets.

Off the top of my head:

Wine - Oyster Bay, Villa Maria, the Ned, Wairau Cove, Brancott Eatate, Cloudy Bay
Lamb - check the label to make sure it's British
Manuka honey and ordinary honey - M&S stock quite a few.
Wool
Allbirds shoes
Canterbury clothing.

Have I missed anything?

Also write to the PM: [email protected]
Minister for trade: [email protected]

And tell them you're boycotting and why. There's no point if they don't know you're doing it!

If most people were appalled by the violence why have they not mentioned it? Why haven’t your politicians come out and spoken against it? Why didn’t the police arrest anyone? Why didn’t your news agencies report on it? Because if most people are appalled they are keeping VERY quiet about it.

That’s the problem - most Kiwis seemingly aren’t appalled by it, least of all our politicians and media.

I feel pretty impotent right now.

Forcing strong opinions on others will never end well. Let's try to be a little more respectful of others, and engage in more mature conversation.

What I and many other posters love about MN is that in a one of the few spaces where GC women...

Drat! It didn't copy the entire text...

I've had some posts deleted and a warning from MN HQ. The posts were critical of PP writing that KJK is a Nazi adjacent person, who hasn't denounced them.

I need to rant less and to be careful how I write.

SinnerBoy · 28/03/2023 01:17

On the subject of transw sexo offenders and the UK ONS & MoJ figures and percentages, could the figures be combined with those of other countries and analysed in a meta analysis?

I'm far from being a statistician.

The New Zealand tourist office deleted their last tweet because they couldn't keep up with hiding all the negative replies.

It's really shocking that people are focusing on the presence of "Nazis" at the event and glossing over the fact that it was the trans activists who assaulted women (with zero consequences) and not the Nazis.

Some self awareness would be good.

This is not a good look for New Zealand.

You’re appalled by the violence but saved your vitriol and attack for women writing words on this board.

It’s not hate to not tolerate violence against women

It is misogyny to support that violence though

Which we see from a few on the thread

nilsmousehammer · 28/03/2023 07:10

After the women speaking on the radio programme yesterday made it clear that the media are frantically spinning the facts and even showing carefully edited footage - largely to cover the arses of the media, police and government having behaved appallingly to the point of NZ people questioning if they intentionally set it up - I would suspect this is more media lies to frantically try and control their damaged PR.

The women speaking on the radio programme talked about their sense of absolute betrayal that the media, police and government lied. And are continuing to lie.

Already some activist has rushed onto a thread to try to discredit the radio programme those women spoke on to make it 'not be true'.

This is movement that operates on powerful people identifying their preferred reality, and then bullying and gaslighting everyone else into joining it.

That was Melbourne. In fact, footage shows the Nazis in Melbourne were not at posies event, its crystal clear they’re separate and standing well away.

Right.

I'm going to need to spend a few minutes pondering whether it's better to be worse behaved than real Nazis, or worse behaved than imaginary Nazis that you made up.

nilsmousehammer · 28/03/2023 07:51

The thing to keep remembering is that they are not the Third Reich, they have no plans to annexe Poland or raze villages.

This is a bunch of neo Nazis. Essentially cos playing twats who quite like the uniform, the image and the justification to be racist thugs. There's a lot of this kind of 'put a uniform on and enjoy the feelz and the violence' going around at the moment.

There's also a lot of slinging of big words to try and get everyone to join in the Group Hate of the unrighteous, but it's all starting to wear a bit thin after the reality appeared on live footage across the world this weekend.

It’s so bad to see. The footage and voices show what happened but so many trying to hide it dismiss it.

We've reached the 'and if it was that bad you deserved it' point of the Narcissist's Prayer.

Our media are desperate to portray the protest as - what was it? ‘Joyful’, ‘life affirming’ and ‘full of love’….?

Honestly sickening. We all saw the signs - these boots stomp TERFs. Get out of our county cunt. Suck my dick.

We also a saw the footage.

But no. We’re being gaslit into believing, as ever, the Emperor has a lovely new set of clothes….

An alternative view of the ‘angry’ protest crowd

The 'chaotic', 'ugly' scenes at the protest were closer to joyful and celebratory.

The Spin off isn’t worth clicking on. They wouldn’t exist without government money

Queenofscones · 28/03/2023 08:13

I was due to go and visit family and friends in New Zealand in late November this year. I'd planned to stay for at least six weeks. I've told them I won't be coming — that being GC I wouldn't feel safe. There's been silence.

nilsmousehammer · 28/03/2023 08:13

It is even worse for their government that their spin is in stark contrast to what their own people are showing on film and personal witness accounts on social media.

Governments can't get away with this anymore. But it's appalling that they are trying. The 'North Korea' comparison being made is hyperbolic, but yes, this kind of spin to disguise ugly reality they do not want to have to face? Is not the behaviour of a healthy democratic country. It's the behaviour of a mad one.

This is good advice. It is much better clicking on links for a privately owned media company which pushes the agenda of its secretive and wealthy conservative backers instead.

FrancescaContini · 28/03/2023 08:33

As for the Met walking away on Sunday from the women being intimidated at Speakers’ Corner: they’ve repeatedly been branded as “institutionally misogynistic” recently and seem very happy not to disprove it. They just don’t care about women’s safety, do they?
