WOMEN SPEAKING - Let Women Speak - Australia & NZ tour

Despite many pleas, the original thread was hijacked by people (mostly from the UK) who displayed ZERO interest in watching, appreciating and discussing the ACTUAL SPEECHES:

Let Women SPeak - Australia & NZ tour

IMHO This was profoundly disrespectful to the OP, @ZombieMumEB, who said she hoped to attend some of the events, to Mumsnetters (particularly Australians and New Zealanders) who wanted to discuss the speeches and to the brave, articulate and impassioned women who gave the speeches.

This thread is to discuss the WOMEN SPEAKING.

Please direct complaints about KJK to one of the perennial "We hate Posie" threads.

If you are a UK socfem with a genuine interest in discussing the socfem approach to re-educating the Labour Party, ie. rather than complaining about KJK, start a new thread. This one is about and for the women in Australia and New Zealand who spoke at the #LetWomenSpeak events

Rather than engage with derailments, can we please agree to report them or ignore them?

Sorry, I'm not going to any more.

IwantToRetire · 25/03/2023 18:37

I have not had time to check back since late last night.

Am really sorry that the rest of the tour has had to cancelled and to hear that the police didn't even attend the event to begin with, and only came after emergency calls.

I hope everyone who is there is home safe, and those who are having to get medical treatment get better soon.

Is there a Government department or official NGO that is supposed to be promoting women's rights?

I would be happy to write and say how appalled I was.

The media coverage in the UK was all about how great NZ was, cooperative working, women make strides in advancement, Jacinda Ardern being a model modern politician, but it seems like something out of the 50s.

I dont think this has been posted but a really good statement from Speak Up for Women New Zealand https://www.speakupforwomen.nz/post/media-release-when-the-oppressed-becomes-the-oppressor

Media Release: When the “oppressed” becomes the oppressor

’If you’re scared you are loved, you are safe, you are wanted…’

unless you start saying things we don’t like, in which case we will shut you up, stop you speaking and drive you out of the country.

Redbird87 · 25/03/2023 18:46

Does anyone have more info on the Maori volunteer who was doxed? I heard she had to leave her home for a while, and I was wondering if anyone knew whether she needs help with paying hotel fees.

Whaeanui · 25/03/2023 18:50

@Redbird87 I’ll let you know, I know a friend of hers so I’ll check in later and pass this on.

GlorianaCervixia · 25/03/2023 19:35

I cannot understand why there wasn’t a police presence. They must have seen what happened in Australia, they would have known that counter-protests were being organised. Why weren’t the police there? I hope there’s some way for women to find out who made that decision because that crowd could have killed someone when they went out of control. The safety of women is worth nothing, it seems.

I dont think this has been posted but a really good statement from Speak Up for Women New Zealand https://www.speakupforwomen.nz/post/media-release-when-the-oppressed-becomes-the-oppressor

"Speak Up for Women thanks Mrs Keen-Minshull for having the courage to come to New Zealand and showing up in Albert Park today, despite receiving multiple death threats and threats of violence in the last week.

In the coming weeks Speak Up for Women will be gathering witness statements and laying a formal complaint with the Independent Police Conduct Authority about the lack of police action to prevent violence in what was clearly an increasingly volatile situation. We call on all political leaders to roundly condemn the violence that transgender activists perpetuated this morning.

We speak directly to the Greens, who actively courted and promoted the violence that occurred today, including just this morning posting on social media that they were ready to “fight the Nazis”. And by Nazis they meant the 70 year-old woman who was punched in the head by the mob they instigated. The Green Party was founded by people who fought for free speech, including speech they found abhorrent, you should be ashamed of what you have turned the party into"

I hope they get the truth as to why the police completely abandoned the women to the mob

ArabellaScott · 25/03/2023 20:05

There are two Herald films, I don't think this one has been posted yet. In it, there is footage of a different protest that happened on the same day in the centre of town. This other protest also attracted what looked like a smaller bunch of 'trans rights' counter protestors.

Funnily enough, these protestors didn't get attacked, 'juiced' or punched or crushed. I wonder why the protestors chose to express violence at KJK and other women rather than this other march? What could the difference possibly be?

IwantToRetire · 25/03/2023 20:14

There was a question up thread about msm coverage. I did a google search for news stories in the past 24 hours coverage was about 50/50 with most of the MSM being anti KJK.

Here are links to some of the smaller papers giving a different prespective:

Let the new feminism speak https://www.spectator.com.au/2023/03/let-the-new-feminism-speak/

The mobbing of Posie Parker shows where gender politics is taking us https://nnn.ng/the-mobbing-of-posie-parker-shows-where-gender-politics-is-taking-us/

“Someone could very well end up dead” Free Speech Union on what happened in Auckland https://www.chrislynchmedia.com/news-items/angry-scenes-in-auckland-as-counterprotestors-target

Not saying they are brilliant but it shows not everyone has been brainwashed.

Also adding not not NZ paper, but the DM, who now seems to post about the LWS tour alternating between KJK is the devil and KJK is a victim of woke extremists.

Thanks goodness yet again for JKR standing up to the mob:

JK Rowling blasts 'mob' at trans critic Kellie-Jay Keen rally

JK Rowling has slammed trans rights activists in New Zealand and the UK calling the scenes in Auckland. In London today, protesters gathered outside an event held by The Lesbian Project.

I'm convinced that a decision was made from on high not to revoke her visa but to simply throw hr to the mob, and no police presence at the event. That's what happens when women want to speak. Teach them a lesson.

It was an incredibly idiotic decision, it's a miracle no one was seriously hurt. Not that I give a damn about the violent mob but it was dangerous for them too.

I hope whoever ordered the police to stay away is found out.

Lockheart · 25/03/2023 22:10

it's a miracle no one was seriously hurt.

I thought an elderly woman got punched in the eye and another woman was run over by a motorbike - are they OK?

JustAMum2023 · 25/03/2023 23:22

@Lockheart , the woman hit by a motorcycle was a green mp who was so busy congratulating men for their violent behavior that she walked straight out in to traffic. She was not intentionally driven in to. Women attending recieved multiple punches, kicks, were spat on, at least one woman has a broken foot from being stamped on and a woman in her 70's received a black eye. Absolutely disgusting behavior from NZ men.

IwantToRetire · 26/03/2023 00:48

If you are shocked at the scenes in New Zealand:

Chris Hopkins is the PM : [email protected]

Kiri Allan is Minister for Justice : [email protected]

Ginny Andersen is the Police Minister so let’s ask her why no police were present. [email protected]

Peeni Henare is the Tourism Minister so let’s tell him how bad this makes NZ look. Not what you imagined at all etc etc. Would you, as a gender critical woman, or just as a woman, feel safe? [email protected]

And James Cleverly is our Foreign Secretary. Let’s ask him whether the tourist guidance to New Zealand will be updated as it is clearly not a safe place for women. [email protected]

SarahJane03 · 26/03/2023 02:00

I wonder if Jacinda had still been PM if she would have allowed the police to behave so badly. I am sure she would have been appauled at the violence towards women.

JustAMum2023 · 26/03/2023 02:23

@SarahJane03 Jacinda would not have let posy in to the country. Jacinda Ardern was one of the worst things to happen to NZ . She refused to meet with women's rights groups and told women to "be kind". This is where her be kind mantra has got us.

GlorianaCervixia · 26/03/2023 06:47

Drone video with an overhead view of the mob surging around PP as she escapes. Starts at about 1 minute in and is incredibly disturbing. The courage of the women around her is extraordinary. It’s a miracle no one was trampled or killed by the crowd.

Yes, funny that.

A bit like how they also didn't attack the men actually doing Nazi salutes, who they claim to hate but don't act as if they do.

Rowdy demonstrations that spill over into public disorder do happen here, but really not very often at all. Certainly not as often as in the UK where the police will (for better or for worse) have lots of experience of handling them. Generally it's all very polite. I know it's tempting to see a conpiracy here, but it's almost certainly that the police didn't know what was coming and didn't know as well as you might think how to handle it.

Why did the TRAs in this instance become so violent?

Testosterone?

Seriously - I don't know. I honestly didn't expect anything like this. I think most people didn't. I'm actually horrified.

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2023 08:40

One article quoted Posie saying the police had been in touch when she arrived in NZ and were concerned for her safety. So why did they not have a single police at the park? They knew there was a likelihood of trouble.

What a load of absolute BS. NZ has had many protests, some of the violent. They’ve recently had the anti mandatory vaccine one. Please. They were also well aware of what happened in Australia as the PM was asked and specifically about police presence. The police were nowhere! ON PURPOSE. Ever actually attended a protest in nz Tom?

Whaeanui · 26/03/2023 08:45

@ArabellaScott Tom doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
