Nicola Sturgeon’s final address -I’ve had more toxic abuse over trans rights than any other

Nicola Sturgeon on her final speech as Scottish leader- women should ‘relearn how to disagree’ - it’s a very odd speech which blames the backlash on a very unpopular policy which was being pushed through without the consent of the people.

“I’ve had more toxic abuse, on this issue, much of it from women claiming to care about women’s rights and women’s safety than I have from probably any other issue,” she said.
“All of us need to take a step back and reflect on that.
“We can disagree and obviously do disagree but whether it’s on this issue or other issues, we need to relearn how to disagree in a way that is civilised and respectful and brings a bit of good faith back into some of these debates.”

She’s very very disingenuous.

teawamutu · 21/03/2023 08:54

I think she meant 'facilitated', no?

ArcticSkewer · 21/03/2023 08:54

Women should stop disagreeing with Nicola. Bad women.

Ingenieur · 21/03/2023 08:55

That's funny, because the only threats of death, rape, assault and doxxing I've had have been from trans rights activists.

It's astonishing that Sturgeon can be on the side of "no debate" then wonder why people's feelings are exploding...

Yesthatismychildsigh · 21/03/2023 08:56

Gaslighting masterclass.

Saisong · 21/03/2023 08:56

Not an ounce of self-reflection, eh Nicola!

Shelefttheweb · 21/03/2023 08:57

Debates? I thought it was ‘no debate’ Nicola? That our views were not valid?

Ndd135632 · 21/03/2023 08:57

It just takes up too much of my brain energy trying to figure out her logic.

So good riddance to bad rubbish.

RoyalCorgi · 21/03/2023 08:58

The disingenuity is off the scale there. This is a woman who didn't allow any women's groups to have a say in the consultation process for the bill. She repeatedly ignored polite warnings about the harm the bill would cause. She is entirely the author of her own misfortune.

PriOn1 · 21/03/2023 08:59

When she steps back and reflects, as she is obviously going to do herself as she says so, perhaps she’ll realise that listening and addressing women’s very valid concerns, rather than ignoring and overriding them, might have led to a better conclusion.

O wad some Power the giftie gie us

MichelleScarn · 21/03/2023 09:02

we need to relearn how to disagree in a way that is civilised and respectful and brings a bit of good faith back into some of these debates.

"You need to know we'll only hear what we want to hear, and if it's not what we want, we'll ignore you."

AlisonDonut · 21/03/2023 09:05

I can't write what I think of her on here but that's some cognitive dissonance going on there Nicola.

It's straight out of the abusers handbook.

MarshaBradyo · 21/03/2023 09:10

Yes good luck telling men not to say they want to decapitate us, rape and kill etc

Good one Sturgeon make sure you focus on what’s really happening.

Beowulfa · 21/03/2023 09:16

Is she going to blame us awful women when it all comes out about the dodgy SNP funding?

senua · 21/03/2023 09:19

"from women claiming to care about women’s rights and women’s safety"

Claiming!!!???? Implying that they don't, really, and Nicola is/was right?
She has no shame.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/03/2023 09:21

Clasic example of DARVO right there.
And she claims to be a feminist.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 21/03/2023 09:21

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Nicola.

WeeBisom · 21/03/2023 09:26

I can’t see how women are expected to act in good faith about this when men like Isla Bryson are allowed into women’s prisons under self id. It’s absurd. I don’t see any good faith from politicians who said the obvious risk was a figment of our imagination.

WinterTrees · 21/03/2023 09:29

Blaming women who "claim to" care about women's rights and safety for opposing a policy that dangerously impacts women's rights and safety is somewhat at odds with her "claim" to be Feminist to her Fingertips.

I think it's obvious whose claim is more authentic.

ReunitedThorns · 21/03/2023 09:29

Imagine the amount of of abuse Isla Bryson's cellmate would receive.

FOJN · 21/03/2023 09:35

Again!

RealFeminist · 21/03/2023 09:43

PROUD TO HAVE STOOD FOR THE RIGHTS OF RAPISTGENDERS

WomanIsBiology · 21/03/2023 09:45

Sick of her self-delusional bullshit and lies. She is the absolute perfect match for gender ideologists and MRAs who have no grip on reality or decency.

MarshaBradyo · 21/03/2023 09:47

It really is insult to injury

The faster all these people are out of office the better.
