From what i can tell, Rosie has quote tweeted a lloyd russell tweet, that is having a go at Kellie J.
Rosie it seems, has thrown Kellie under the bus by claiming, ' look i'm not like that other woman, so listen to me '! That's how i'm reading it anyway.
If so, that's the last time i hop in when it's rosie getting all the flak, she can do one!
I notice Bindle is there too!

Mothers are unfortunately often complicit in family sexual abuse

EndlessTea · 10/03/2023 08:52

Seems like @Elizaazile is advocating for an end to child protection services.

So you disagree with her that parents should always be involved? Because that's what she's arguing

Is she? Is she arguing that parents should be involved at all times? Can you evidence that? That she argues that abusive parents should have authority over their child. I would like to see you post her saying what you have accused her of please.

drwitch · 10/03/2023 08:53

@AlisonDonut this is nice guidelines it's not the nspcc view. Just posted to make it clear that there are quite a lot of safeguards already.
Sometimes though it's not in the best interest of the child to inform the parents or carers

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 08:54

Well that's what she said...

Natsku · 10/03/2023 08:55

If a 12 year old goes to a doctor because she's pregnant or needs contraception the doctor's first point of call should be SS, not the parents, because of the likelihood of a family member being the one raping the 12 year old or the risk of a violent response from parents e.g. honour killing.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 10/03/2023 08:55

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 08:50

You think the doctor should call up her potential rapist and ask if he's okay with her having reproductive autonomy?

An 8 year old child doesn’t actually have any autonomy, let alone reproductive autonomy.

Children can’t consent to sex, so they can’t consent to contraception and abortion either and need a legal guardian to do so on their behalf.

You seem awfully like those who advocate for ‘queering the boundaries’ of childhood, frankly.

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 08:56

Seems like you don't understand who children most need protection from.

And that’s fine.

The main thing is that safeguarding protocols are begun. Social services can then decide how to proceed re: parents.

EndlessTea · 10/03/2023 08:57

If a social services referral is made, the parents will be informed. It’s how it works.

bellinisurge · 10/03/2023 08:57

If doctors/healthcare professionals are not seeing red flags when they see a sexually active girl under the age of consent they aren't doing their jobs properly.
Yes, there may be plenty of 14 and 15 year olds making silly mistakes with boyfriends the same age, but there will also be abuse victims. Doling out BC to any under age girl who asks for it is anti safeguarding.
Obviously there may be a good reason it to tell parents but we need to have a conversation as to whether the Gillick ruling is still fit for purpose in this decision making.

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 08:57

This is insane...can children consent to becoming parents then?

FourTeaFallOut · 10/03/2023 08:57

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 08:56

The current system doesn't prioritise protection, just contraception.

This!

That's "not to tell parents ". Good reason "not to tell parents "

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 08:59

Generally their fathers. Is this a feminist website or not?

drwitch · 10/03/2023 08:59

@bellinisurge read the link in my post. The Fraser guidelines don't say any child can get BC. There are lots of safeguards.

12 year old girls cannot consent to sex or becoming mothers, no.
Which is why social services should be involved.
The girl has been raped.

AlisonDonut · 10/03/2023 09:00

Feminists don't hate men.

👀

Look familiar anyone? The undermining of parental responsibility- and the propagation of this idea that children mostly need protection from their own parents? 👀

”We are your family now”

Elizaazile · 10/03/2023 09:00

But you are arguing she should be forced to become a mother if her parents don't consent to abortion

It’s not feminist to enable rapists to get away with raping girls.

In fact @Elizaazile you sound an awful lot like Jefferey Marsh.
