Continuation of Thread 3.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

And the Labour Party machine seems to consider her a problem to be ignored.

That Miriam Cates is treated with respect by her Tory colleagues and Rosie Duffield has been thrown to the wolves is a very strong argument in the conservatives favour.

I’ll be voting based on individuals rather than party but as someone who has only ever voted for a left wing party or spoiled a ballot I would happily vote for Miriam if she were my constituency Tory candidate (it’s SO Labour round here that we only ever get the dregs of the Tory membership standing - one GE the Tory leaflets had a typo in the biggest font on the page ‘Conserative’ 🤦‍♀️)

Somehow, gender-critical people, which includes gay women and men, will be over the the moon with the new Ugandan anti-homosexuality law. They sky must be a different colour where Kelley is.

Sounds like a load of old DARVO from Nancy?

I’m sure there is a well funded anti LGBT lobby but it’s going to be motivated and funded by orthodox/traditional religions (like the South American Catholics who made an effigy of Judith Butler).

GC people in the UK and across the world are not the same group of people and don’t have the same aims.

After equal marriage was achieved Stonewall should’ve directed their attentions to LGB equality worldwide, instead they took on the T and began to dismantle all they had achieved for homosexuals over the previous decades.

Don’t blame us for Stonewall’s failures, Nancy - we’ve been trying to warn you about shit like this for years.

I can’t imagine GC feminists would ever set fire to an effigy of a female academic in the streets (not even if that academic is Judith Butler they/them!)

This. So much this! My guess is that there wasn't enough money to be made from giving a shit about those in other countries whose actual lives are in danger. Ultimately, it seems to me that the only way they can keep their genderism even vaguely within the bounds of logical reason is to conflate it with sexuality. Anyone with half a brain knows that the two are a strange marriage.

@Boiledbeetle that looks rather marvellous. I can't buy a copy at the moment but I've added it to my list of books I must buy. I hope you make a shedload of profit!

I hope so it's for a good cause and For Women Scotland rely on donations as they don't get any public funding.

Thank you. There is a glitch in the system, if searching without a link to the correct page it only appears if you select books as the department to search. If you search all departments it doesn't appear.

I'm just boggling at this. But serious concern that this special individual, with the assistance of the clearly captured judiciary, will be able to fuck up UK sex/gender law even more than it already is:

Mumsnet makes parents' lives easier by pooling knowledge, advice and support on everything from conception to childbirth, from babies to teenagers.

I’m hoping the judge rules sensibly a la Freddy McConnell case.

The US/California can register it’s own citizens however they chose, but their choices surely cannot infringe on a sovereign country’s lawmaking? Especially in a way that would incur millions of pounds worth of knock on effects?

The primary purpose of the GRC is to change one’s birth certificate and this person does not have a UK birth certificate to change.

Fingers cross the judge tells they/them to feck off!

A bit of news from the Antipodes.

At dinner tonight, some of the men were talking about the drive to increase the size of the Australian military. One said,

"Good luck with that, they dunno what fucking gender they, where they gonna put them?"

"Yeah: I'm a girl! 'OK son, etc, lovie - you go there...'"

"But what about me?" (Picks up salt grinder) "I'm Toaster Gender!"

Cue much hilarity and comments about blue hair.

"And what about the shit show in Adelaide? Fucking arseholes on TV bullshitted about the whole bloody thing?"

"Yeah, telly's worse in New Zealand. They ran her out of town, the bastards. Why have they got blokes on girls' teams? It's fucking stupid!"

I don't know if they're a microcosm of Aussie society, but I was really surprised that they knew so much about the situation. Maybe it's a blue collar thing to be less tolerant of mad bollocks.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/04/2023 14:59

@SinnerBoy re white collar/blue collar…

IME, the fewer emails a person needs to send on their average day at work, the less likely they are to give a rats arse about pronouns!

In other news, has anyone else noticed a whole new load of posters who appear to be larping as feminists but are defending male violence and drag performances?

I reported one for using the insulting trans term that ends in nny this morning.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 03/04/2023 15:04

There do seem to be a lot of them at the moment, disagreeing like mad but not producing any coherent counter-argument.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/04/2023 15:29

It would be nice if they had some weighty counterpoints to share, we’ve been asking for a proper debate for at least 5 years!

Tricyrtis2022 · 03/04/2023 16:07

I bet they're students on their Easter holidays with nothing better to do.

StephanieSuperpowers · 03/04/2023 16:31

I don't think it should be possible for them to have their witless remarks deleted though.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/04/2023 16:35

That particular post seemed to me to be a false flag aimed at making Mumsnetters and MumsnetHQ look like the haters they accuse us of being but have no evidence of.

Usually the only posts I report are my own (because a link is stuck in the AI filter or because I posted on the wrong thread 😆)

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 03/04/2023 17:31

Good spot Tricyrtis, that would explain a lot.

Kucinghitam · 04/04/2023 05:36

I just read this from the thread about escalating violence and this is such a perfect description of some TRSOHers:

They remind me a little of a concept that is found in the Eastern Orthodox Church, called prelest, or "spiritual delusion." This is a kind of very sneaky way that they believe Satan tempts very holy people, by convincing them that some evil idea is in fact good and deeply important. And the conviction that they are on the side of Good, and also that people in general see them as good, makes them extremely dangerous. They are difficult to dissuade, will take extreme measures, and will suck other foolish people in with them.

OP posts:
Gonners · 04/04/2023 07:52

I came across prelest elsewhere recently and one of the joys of it is that according to one of the Russian Orthodox saints it's the default state of all people. Actually I think he said "men", but presumably in the inclusive sense of "mankind".

It reminds me very much of the Yorkshire saying which I don't have off pat, but someone will correct me: it's along the lines of "everyone's mad but thee and me and I'm not so sure about thee".
