Caba Baba Rave - take your baby to watch nearly naked men in fetish gear

Journalist Dominique Samuels has posted video of one of their events: https://twitter.com/dominiquetaegon/status/1630948003962912768?s=61&t=gd6tu0Iz6JpyKXGLWMLGjg

Which features men gyrating and hanging from the ceiling surrounded by a crowd of clueless women and their babies.

I would say it's NSFW but it's apparently safe for babies so have a watch.

Here's a reddux article:

https://reduxx.info/uk-sold-out-rave-for-babies-featuring-drag-queens-prompts-outrage/

Since the video went viral, the company has taken down its website and Facebook and made their Instagram private. I wonder why? Confused

And lol 😂 I can be pretty uncool about a lot of things. Just saying this isn’t a hill I am willing to die on. Much rather concentrate my efforts on single sex spaces and areas where people don’t have a choice whether they wish to engage rather than an optional activity.

The kids don’t have a choice though, so they?

Children should be helped to hone their creep radar (‘the gift of fear’) not be exposed to fetish stuff so young that they grow up with no sense of what is normal or safe.

How do you suggest the babies opt out of this optional activity?

Kick up a shitstorm. Pretty sure they could force an extraction if they wished.

LemonSwan · 03/03/2023 11:13

Yes with a bit of tweaking this could be very cool 😎 and then maybe I would go and be a cool mum and fulfill hoppings dreams for me 🤣

Ahhh Lemon. You still have a sense of humour which is brilliant.

Seriously?? What about when the performers are less than 2m from the baby’s face (which seemed to be quite a lot)?

What about when the 12” stiletto makes contact through a crawling hand (men aren’t always known for their spatial awareness)?

Hosted by Lizzie and Gemma – Two performers turned mums who were constantly looking to be entertained whilst holding a baby in one hand and a pint in the other.

So this is all about Lizzie and Gemma being bored and wanting to drink? What about entertaining their babies?

If you look at the archived images on their now deactivated website, a LOT of them involve the performers picking up and holding the babies.

Do you think that's a good idea, @LemonSwan ?

Do you like to hand your baby to random strangers in fetish gear?

See that picture explains my point perfectly. Older kid with the orange hair should absolutely not be there. Not appropriate and bloody weird.

All the babies aren’t even looking. They couldn’t care less.

That said why can’t that man just put some flipping trousers on. It is bizarre.

Grumblemonster · 03/03/2023 11:17

LolaSmiles · 02/03/2023 11:36

Why would any parent take their children to an event like this, regardless of the performers' sex or identity?

I have (male and female) friends who do aerial arts and pole, and they look graceful, demonstrate artistic skills, athletic talent and don't dress in a sexualised manner. If someone wanted to do an aerial show for children it could easily be done in a child-appropriate way, which might make many people wonder why they've chosen not to do a child-appropriate aerial show.

Well, in the video the performers don't demonstrate the skill level you would expect in a show that you charge admission for. It's not uncommon to use suggestive costuming or dialogue to spice up a performance that doesn't stand on it's own merits. I would think babies and young children make for an, in some senses, undemanding audience, because although they have short attention spans and lack the social grace to feign appreciation, they also tend to be quite easily impressed.

I don't think those are two strategies for monetising a sub-par show that should be combined though.

This is the whole point of safeguarding, @LemonSwan - children cannot opt out of this, they are put in these places by their idiotic woke drunk mothers. Therefore others in the community have to say "NO" instead.

Helleofabore · 03/03/2023 11:20

"Children should be helped to hone their creep radar (‘the gift of fear’) not be exposed to fetish stuff so young that they grow up with no sense of what is normal or safe."

This should be said very often.

The fact that children are being taught this is normal behaviour and dress and not fetishistic is all back to the discussions at the start of the thread.

Exactly who benefits from adults and children with lowered or non-existent sexual boundaries?

Those photos. JFC.

“Creep radar” - spot on. These poor kids won’t even understand what a creep is if this behaviour is just normal for them.

“Park, playground or semi naked man in thong writhing around in front of you with his tongue lolling around and while stroking his own leg, kids? What do you fancy doing today?”

You think that babies under 1 are capable of giving informed consent, or refusing it?

I realise your post was an attempt to be funny. The question was serious.

Do you believe that babies can give informed consent to participate in this? Yes or no?

I'm from London and raising my own (now older) children here.

I recognise exactly who these Honor Oak mums are. It's just down the road from Peckham, but I note with absolutely no surprise that every single yummy mummy there is white as fuck.

I think the man with the orange pigtails (or whatever they are called) in his hair with the tie dyed tank top did the Santa strip. And is the man with the foam in his hair with the baby in another PR shot. Is he the same one as holding the beer in the pic below just taken months before when the baby was younger and the hair was tied back?

GrabbyGabby · 03/03/2023 07:40

The tickets are £25 fecking quid. 😳

That's more than double what I pay for baby swimming. Which, you know, includes use of a pool with high overheads, a trained teacher who provides lots of toys to play with, certificates. Oh, and is actually pitched at babies, teaches them some water safety skills, and isn't a safeguarding nightmare.

These ginger-bearded, smug, overgrown, ageing hipsters from the home counties are everywhere here. They can't get through a Sunday without their craft beer and dismal flirting with their mate's wife (visually indistinguishable from their own) while their semi-neglected (but it's fine because MONEY) children crawl around in sagging overfilled nappies eating junk food, and now with bonus fetishistic grooming to liven up the whole shitshow. Bleurgh.

risefromyourgrave · 03/03/2023 11:29

Fucking hell, this is just all kinds of wrong.

The child exposed to this from a young age is not going to have any danger radar. Aged 9, the child goes to the playground, cool mummy is off buying a coffee, because if she couldn’t bear to miss out on daytime drinking with the other cool mummies when DC was a baby, she’s not going to miss out on her coffee now is she?
Random bloke dressed like a BDSM nightmare comes up to child and offers to show them some puppies. Child who hasn’t been shown weird shit like this - ‘fuck no you total weirdo’, child who has been weaned on this stuff - ‘ooh yeah, total normal bloke, and he’s got puppies! What’s not to like?!’

I despair of the fact that people care more about looking cool and young and with it on Instagram rather than giving a shit about their literal own children.

Helleofabore · 03/03/2023 11:32

I could well imagine a couple of 2 year olds being advanced enough in co-ordination to be able to copy some of those poses. Imagine dealing with that at pick up time from nursery... well, um, x stripped off and sat on a chair and did the stripper spread, and then got to the floor and rolled around and finished with a pose stroking their leg. They are not hard moves to emulate.

Well of course they can’t consent. That’s my point. They don’t have any idea what’s going on. Whilst in their mothers arms/ under close watch I don’t think they are coming to any harm, and with a memory of less than 2 weeks at that age it’s hardly going to be seared into their consciousness.

If have given my opinion and that’s it really. Happy for you others to die on this hill. Not trying to change your view. I definitely agree with you about the older babes/ kids. I am happy to compromise on this with an age limit and personally am saving my energy of all out bans for bigger battles and I hope you can respect that.

Yep.

at £25 a ticket, it’s not exactly Thursday afternoon activity budget friendly either!

Reminds me of those idiot Goldsmiths students at the Deptford Project.

Dunno why anyone would think pointing your gusset at babies is ok, let alone worth shelling out £25 for (plus another £5 for each additional sibling).

These are from the Caba Baba Rave Instagram account - I added the stickers to cover the foreground babies faces but the pics are already everywhere online so it’s a bit stable door/horse bolted.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/03/2023 11:33

Some of the mums were deffo getting their creep radar’s pinged. I hope they speak to the press.

Do you have young children?

Mine always look at me to gauge my reaction to something/someone new.
Even if it’s as innocuous as their father making a new sound at them.

They absolutely rely on their mum’s reactions to assess if something is safe or dangerous.

@Clymene
you've misunderstood that legislation. The Act covers situations where someone gets sexual gratification from making a child watch something sexual.

It doesn't cover getting sexual gratification from watching the something sexual.

Well exactly.

What do you think is going on? Honestly, I would like to know.

I definitely recognise this (although not the dig at ginger!) and we’re not in the capital. It seems hip to allow your kids to look horribly neglected and for there to be no boundaries whatsoever.
Poverty chic? I don’t get it 🤷‍♀️
