Yikes.

I guess there's more disquiet about this stuff in Canada than is reported.

God, are people still pretending that sex isn't binary?
Let me guess, that Nature article is about to be deployed in 3...2...1...

Guaranteed.

Wow, this thread eh?! Soon you'll have banned black history month, deaf awareness week, LGBT history month, mental health awareness week, world AIDS Day, etc etc... So many good things to work towards eh?

AlisonDonut · 17/02/2023 21:02

suggestionsplease1 · 17/02/2023 20:48

You must be out of touch with contemporary science if you think that the majority of present day academics and researchers consider sex to be binary.

Sex is binary pet.

Sex is binary pet.

Ah, I suggest you do some further reading and go beyond the entry level stuff, love.

Rainbowshit · 17/02/2023 21:04

And even if sex wasn't binary (it is binary), what would that have to do with not wanting children to be taught that changing sex is possible?

OP posts:
Rainbowshit · 17/02/2023 21:05

@suggestionsplease1 we have done further reading which is why we know that sex absolutely is binary.

OP posts:
Rainbowshit · 17/02/2023 21:07

But please do post links to the further reading you think will persuade us that sex is not binary. (Hint:we'll likely have seen it many many times)

O really, did any of this reading concern papers written after the 1960s?

suggestionsplease1 · 17/02/2023 21:07

Ok, what parameters are you using to define sex as binary?

Rainbowshit · 17/02/2023 21:08

What is the third sex called? Male, female and...?

OP posts:
Waitwhat23 · 17/02/2023 21:09

If you make a claim that the 'majority of present day academics and researchers' do not believe that sex is binary, the burden of proof lies with you to evidence such a claim.

Waitwhat23 · 17/02/2023 21:13

Oh, and the author of the article published in Nature (and again on the Scientific American website) which is often offered as 'proof' had this to say about the article.

Bit later than 1960...

You are perfectly welcome to explore the existing thinking yourself; I have some suspicion nothing I could say would satisfy you.

Why don't you do something like type 'sex' and 'binary' into Google scholar and order by date to get an idea.

Rapist.

Helleofabore · 17/02/2023 21:15

Note to readers.

There has never been one piece of evidence posted to support “majority of present day academics and researchers consider sex to be binary.

Because there is nothing published that will disprove what is known and well established about sex being either male or female in humans. And that no one human can change their sex.

What some people believe is that by leveraging other people’s medical conditions into the scope of gender identity and the ideological thinking that is around that, that those with differences of sex development can be used to destabilise the sex binary.

The answer is, all but the very rare are not either male or female sex. Their very disorders are based on what sex they are. Those that are harder to define, can be defined via modern scanning technology.

So, instead posters will tell you to ‘go and read deeper’, knowing they have nothing. Nothing but theories, nothing but using some type of current philosophical theory to get there.

If they had something, they would be posting it everywhere! they don’t. They know they don’t.

Every human on the planet, was created by a sperm fertilising an egg.

Two sexes.

AlisonDonut · 17/02/2023 21:19

Ok, right. Yikes. I'm not prepared to start at the very beginning.

So even if you believed that it took a parents with binary sexes to reproduce, why would they necessarily and logically produce offspring with binary sex?

Brefugee · 17/02/2023 21:29

So the school was having an "inclusion day" (lovely) but cocked-up by calling it a "rainbow day" and not telling parents what was going to be involved and what it was about (not LGBT but inclusion of lots of different things). And the parents who know that in Canada anything with a rainbow is likely to be about lgbT kept their kids away just in case.

Sounds like a communication problem to me. And a problem with the direction the country is headed in (T above all else) because lots of people aren't comfortable with it. There needs to be a lot more rational, calm public discussion.

(the Tits teacher - isn't that a protest about the ridiculousness of it all? isn't there a court case?)

Helleofabore · 17/02/2023 21:30

”So even if you believed that it took a parents with binary sexes to reproduce, why would they necessarily and logically produce offspring with binary sex?”

because there is only two sexes. It is impossible for a person to be born without being either of the sexes. If you are wedging in people’s medical conditions to pry open the ‘binary’, it doesn’t change the sex binary. It reinforces the sex binary.

A female human is a human with a body that has been formed around the production of large gametes, whether it does produce them, has produced them or will ever produce them.

There is no third, fourth, fifth or sixth sex.

Rainbowshit · 17/02/2023 21:30

It does take parents with binary sexes to reproduce. You need a male and a female. A small gamete and a large gamete. There is no other way for humans to reproduce.

You seem to believe that's not true so let's see your evidence.

Helleofabore · 17/02/2023 21:33

”I'm not prepared to start at the very beginning.”

This too is common. The mocking ‘I am not going to educate you’ tactic.

So, not one shred of credible evidence and not willing to ‘start at the very beginning’.

Posters who have seen this ploy many times have a good idea what comes next.
