It’s very delusional confusing.

So if IW was formerly that which cannot be named, then trans, and is now a woman does that mean that all of us are evolving into a new state of being? Or is this something that only happens to very special people.

if we are evolving could someone hurry my evolution up a tad, nothing seems to be happening yet.

There is no fun in arguing with a pigeon; they are far too laid back. However, India Willoughby seems very easy to wind up. My question would be if she's so worried that if she was raped she'd end up 'in a male prison' why would she want to take the risk by becoming a 'biological' woman? She doesn't seem to be able to separate being raped and being a rapist.

If IW is not trans then surely it is inappropriate to have IW take part in these discussions. If IW is just a "woman" then the slot can be filled by any number of competent women and IW's voice is not needed in the discussion

Good point Miri, they should have got a trans person to fill that slot.
On the one hand she's a biological woman and on the other " there are only a few of us" or whatever IW said.
As ever with this ideology, it can't be both. Or it can try to be, but fails.

just watched QT. I've also been on my work twitter account this morning. I must say that the account of QT on this thread and what I have seen myself differ. IW in fact had a lot of sympathy from the QT audience, much more than Ella did. Ella didn't make her point clearly - that it isn't possible to change sex. She got a lot of boos - IW didn't. And the Yellow Blouse woman (although I 100% agree with her) only has a smattering of clapping. The later commentators (cord blazer man and the young woman in the grey jumper etc ) who are all commenting about the poor trans people being persecuted, get far more applause

I disagree about Ella not being clear. I thought she was. But I agree that there was a lot of support for India and the young woke couple at the end and not as much for the sensible side (ours) as is suggested here.

To clarify - I didn't think that India got a lot of support initially mainly because the audience was trying to untie their brains. But I think that it did pick up towards the end and especially after the beefy bloke and the woke couple spoke.

QT claims to have a balance of political views in its audience. But that relies on people filling in the application form truthfully. Anyone could apply and pretend to be a Tory when actually they're SNP, or claim to have voted a particular way in the EU referendum when they didn't.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the producers couldn’t find enough people in Glasgow who might agree with IW. You know, on account of those beliefs being batshit.

I don't think there was "a lot of" support for IW. But the younger people at the end who didn't make strong point but were more slogan-ish, did have some audience support.

Much easier to just chant "Four legs good: two legs better" than make - or even follow - a reasoned argument, that's the problem we're facing

IW going into a male prison without the make ups and costume would look like a man so no problem. If I cut my hair went without make up and put on a prison uniform I might look very unattractive but I would still be unmistakable as a female as would any born woman. These men stating they are more woman than us would fall apart without their costumes and the real women would be unmistakable.

Where IWs argument fails is that they were so keen to emphasise that the tiny (!) number of transwomen in prison ( no space India, the word “trans” is not an adjective to describe a woman, transwoman/men are not women with a prefix) are kept in separate confinement when in the female estate , but IW does not address the obvious solution that transwomen could just as easily be kept in separate confinement within the male estate.

Once again it is the expectation and assumption that adjustments are made to women’s spaces rather than adjustments to male spaces. It is this mindset that needs to be challenged. We can’t expect JKR to start funding women only prisons and hospitals as well as rape crisis centres!
