I wrote to my MP, about this case.

I completely agree with you that women need protection from sex offenders and from predatory men.
As women, unfortunately, we still need to look out to be safe from predatory men. Predatory men are a threat to women, but trans-women are not.
We need to do a lot more to bring rapists to justice. We also need to do a lot more to support victims of rape and ensure that they can recover from their trauma. Additionally, we need to ensure that rape victims are believed when they first report a crime against them. I am actively campaigning on all those issues.
The GRR is a separate issue. It is separate because the vast majority trans-gender people are not rapists or sex offenders. Like in the general population you wouldn't deny rights to all women or all men because some men and some women are criminals.
The Scottish GRR law will allow transgender people to live their lives according to who they are and to have their trans identity acknowledged by making the process of receiving a gender recognition certificate easier. It doesn't change who is trans or who becomes trans. Transgender people are who they are, men who want to live as women and women who want to live as men. They do this anyway and they are no threat to you and me anymore than other people are.
The Equality Act 2010 is not affected by GRR nor is the requirement in law that prison services must ensure that their male and female inmates are safe.
If a transgender woman commits a crime, she will be punished as other people are. It is for individual prisons to decide on a case-by-case basis where prisoners are placed in order to ensure the safety of all inmates.
You will have heard in the news that the convicted rapist you have been referring to will not be held in a women's prison.
