Evan Davis has just finished the PM programme. We had articles on the effect of Instagram on the restaurant trade, on Chat gpt and on wearing shorts in the winter.
Guess how long the article on Isla Bryson / Adam Graham ran for ...

Couple of minutes? Or did he get an AI version of Plato to say it's all ok again (which they did earlier this week)

WhereYouLeftIt · 26/01/2023 18:26

It's possible that it's out of his control. But, he has form on gender identity.

CriticalCondition · 26/01/2023 18:36

As I said on the other thread, he should not swerve or be permitted to swerve a major story which because of his own views he would find awkward to handle. He's taken a noticeably pro-trans line on previous stories. It's destroyed the trust I used to have in him as a serious and impartial journalist. If he's dodging this issue because of his own personal views what else is he averting his eyes from?

DuncanBiscuits · 26/01/2023 18:37

Ol’ Tinsel Tits? He’ll have given it 90 seconds, I reckon.

senua · 26/01/2023 18:38

It's possible that it's out of his control.
Yeah right.Hmm It was the second headline in the news summary.
But, he has form on gender identity.
Correct. There was no article. Nada. Nothing from Evan. He's a disgrace to BBC impartiality.

Evan Davis is totally up to the gills with the koolaid.

nauticant · 26/01/2023 18:40

Tonight the PM programme had Evan Davis doing an introduction to the segments that would be covered in "depth" in the programme, followed by the news headlines. The news headlines, that I doubt ED has any control over, briefly summarised the rapist (now not) in the Scottish prison. ED didn't mention this story at all and, in contrast to all of the big Radio 4 programmes today, there was no discussion about the story on PM. The contrast was so noticeable that I do wonder whether ED said that he wouldn't touch the story and so as far as PM was concerned the audience was left only with a brief summary.

borntobequiet · 26/01/2023 19:26

Only a brief mention on the six o’clock news too.

The shorts in winter segment sounded as though it had been very hastily put together. It was pointless and crap.

2023username · 26/01/2023 19:28

He absolutely has editorial control.
This will have been his call.

We watched the BBC and then the ITV news straight after to compare & contrast.

The BBC version of the story was bloody ridiculous. 'She changed her gender' ... 'transitioned' ... Plus only the one photo of the wig and nails.

The ITV version was much more honest and hard-hitting. It showed the photographs of the man and described the reality of the male rapist.

To think we pay for the bloody BBC to push propaganda at us. The BBC is so captured.

HipTightOnions · 26/01/2023 20:09

Same here, AutumnCrow. BBC we're pathetic. It's ITV for us from now on!

WarningToTheCurious · 26/01/2023 20:39

The lunchtime BBC news item was more interesting - correspondent Lorna called Bryson “they” initially but most definitely called this rapist “he” at the end of her report.

CriticalCondition · 26/01/2023 20:43

It's weird. The photo on the website has been cropped at the waist. I wonder if the BBC, at least as far as the pictures go, thought 'urgh, it's a bit tasteless and tabloidy darling' to have a photo showing a chap's meat and two veg in leggings. And the public, who are still a bit confused about how much you have to change your body to be trans, are failed again by journalists who don't show them the truth.

Abccde · 26/01/2023 20:44

It's amazing how we can all get different impressions of things.

I thought itv report was too sympathetic to TW being in womans prisons. Which in my opinion should never happen.

ILikeDungs · 26/01/2023 21:08

Evan covered men choosing to wear shorts (spicy!) Israel/Palestine, possibly false green claims on household products (say it isn't so), artificial intelligence chat GPT and exams, and of course the Nicola Sturgeon U-turn on Adam Graham, rapist, in the Scottish women's prison.

Oh wait, he didn't do the last bit.

This is a very important topic for any journalist given SNP's disgust at blocking the bill and "English involvement in a devolved matter", Scottish independence and the likelihood that this was all engineered by SFM to artificially produce this disgust and subsequent protests, not to mention that little matter of fucking rapists being allowed into prisons with women. That little thing.

But Evan hates women so much he chose not to discuss.

“The truth belongs to all of us; it is too important to be held hostage by a tiny minority who insist that facts are harmful.”

ILikeDungs · 26/01/2023 22:18

He's loving those men in shorts though

Evan Davis
Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 26/01/2023 22:27

Evan Davies is very partial luvvy up to his neck in males who love to rape women.

but “Of course he is totally impartial” “in the same way that as anybody who knew Jimmy Saville was totally oblivious to the fact that he in front of their eyes was abusing vulnerable children.”

Cut from true BBC cloth.

Weaved from a web of lies, cured with with a pinch of salt and stitched so tightly so that from the outside everything seems fine.

ILikeDungs · 26/01/2023 22:28

Remind me how much he earns to NOT talk about women's SS spaces in Scotland? I know l must sound obsessed by now but really, WTAF

News at 10 referred to the rapist as a transgender woman who committed the crimes “when she was a man”.

I am awaiting my response from the BBC to my complaint about BBC lunchtime news on Tuesday which referred to the rapist as “a woman”

ILikeDungs · 26/01/2023 22:37

For anyone not willing to click the link: Evan Davis - £270,000 - £274,999

And he gets to decide what news we hear

My response from the BBC was (paraphrased) "Sorry that you are probably old"

Clymene · 26/01/2023 22:59

Evan Davis is an absolute disgrace. Sometimes I wonder how we live in a world where such outright misogyny is not just accepted but rewarded.

N4ish · 26/01/2023 23:06

The incredibly boring shorts piece just went on and on, complete waste of airtime on a busy news day.

I completely disagree with this. He's a gay man. He knows a man from a woman.

You are half right. He is a gay man. However he has made it very clear that he believes transwomen are women so has no real notion of what a woman is. But yeah, pretty sure he would have no truck with a transman, go figure.

Yes he is a gay man. And some gay men, having no sexual 'use' for women, see us as as nothing. (Not all gay men, obviously - but some.)

It would seem Davis may be one such.
