'Stewart McDonald, Kirsten Oswald, Kaukab Stewart and Alison Thewliss were at the Glasgow protest to support the trans community and stand up for Scotland's democracy.'

That's them standing in front of a sign that says 'decapitate terfs'.

Again, I'm genuinely fucking shocked. This inflammatory, violent rhetoric is not acceptable.

Not one of whom told them it was shocking and inappropriate. The fact is that violent threats are not just condoned by supporters of tran ideology, they pose for photos with the threatening signs.

Exactly. Just a ''few bad apples'', yet nobody told them to get rid of those signs or leave. They're quick enough to act when it's signs they disagree with, like when they abused that lad for wearing an LGBA hat and he had to be removed from a march for his own safety, and when lesbians were removed for banners the TRAs didn't agree with..

But nobody kicked up a fuss about these signs, which suggests they're either so used to seeing violent threats against women at these ''trans rights'' protests that they just don't register anymore OR they don't see anything wrong with the sign.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 21/01/2023 23:35

This sign seems weirdly specific. Looks like "SCREW TORIES FUCK THEIR DADS".

Anyone else?

This. I can’t believe those grinning idiots went to this demo and didn’t see the offensive signs. They saw them and simply didn’t care.

it’s disgusting.

Do you honestly think you are doing anything other than highlighting the viciousness and violence of the trans activists, PIE?
You are digging yourself in so deep - blatantly showing the callous disregard your movement has for all (natal, biological, XX) women.
Joking, deflecting and excusing on this thread - beyond belief…

Exactly today had been a disgusting display of the arrogance of the trans Rights activists and their hatred of women. And yet Someone thinks it's a good idea to come on here and take the piss and attempting to do "look squirrels".

I think we are are fairly patient lot on here. But we do have our limits. Today was mine for putting up with this faux oh but but but shtick.

I think it's a myth that nationalism is OK or not politically regressive if it's a small nation.

I don’t think this is about nationalism. The Labour Party and lib dems and greens were actually more enthusiastic about the grr than the SNP. It’s misogyny, plain and simple

Also just thinking of Boris and his dad, oh and his sister and isn't they're another politician brother.

Ooh we're having a gang bang.

Excellent point, Winterfire. Are we being asked to believe that trans activists and politicians (the people exulting over forcing him out included Lib-Dem politicians) can spot and target a young man wearing something as understated as a black beanie hat, but they can't see a ruddy great placard being held up next to them?

Come off it.

Well, I suppose it's a change from threatening women, their mothers and their daughters. I've got a charming graphic saved from a TRA which depicts their personal fantasy of killing a mother and daughter in a women's toilet.

My brain is in conflict between don't want to know and seriously tell me more.

I can't decide which half should win.

Tell me when you've decided.

I do not want the designer within 50 feet of me, ever. In fact, that might be a bit close.

Tell you what just think it's contents. If it's meant to be my woman powers will pick it up!

Indeed, Pothole.

And let's not forget, their eyes were working fine when they made a woman leave the Scottish parliament committee for wearing a scarf in suffragette colours.

But they all somehow failed to notice these vile signs that they were posing for photos with🤔

Only so that those that don't know who this person is don't assume the rubbish spouted in their posts is correct, because it never is. It's always misrepresenting something with a pretend innocence. It's worn rather thin these last few weeks.

Yet these same people managed to see elaines actual genitals in parliament. Through her many layers of clothes and merkin.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 22/01/2023 01:14

I've spotted a "Trans People Don't Owe U Shit" sign in the background of Ross Greer's selfie with Patrick Harvie.

Are we allowed Women Don't Owe You Shit signs or would that be needlessly aggressive?

While he was taking that selfie, he really should have sent Kirsten Oswald a text along the lines of "have you SEEN what is being held up behind your head?" The signs were clearly visible from where he and Patrick were, and I don't believe they spent the entire time with their backs to the crowd.

I don’t really buy that they didn’t know the signs where there. The whole thing reminds me of when Milenia Trump wore the “I don’t really care do you?” coat to see caged asylum seekers.

Delphinium20 · 22/01/2023 03:54

I've done an average amount of protests in my life - anti-war, anti-Wall Street, pro-abortion rights, anti-gun, anti-racism, Save Mother Earth, women's March (the first one) anti-pipeline etc. While you see all sorts at lefty protests including anti-establishment folks, most were very upbeat - hippy, peace and love and all that.

This vibe? These kids just seem like they are irrationally enraged. Like they are so mad at their parents. Anti-mom, I guess.

Naturally, some protests ARE fueled by rage and typically follow a specific and horrific event, preceded by centuries of injustices- George Floyd and Sarah Everad come to mind.

But this? TRAs aren't protesting murder or rape or capitalist greed. They are irrationally mad cause we say, "stay out of the women's rooms and don't sterilize children." Ten years ago no one - not the most anti-establishmentarian - would have considered protesting because a woman somewhere called a guy in a skirt, "he."

Insane.

What strikes me is the difference between this demo and, say, the pride demo where lesbians were verbally used for holding signs saying 'Get the L out' which wasn't even a violent thing to say. There were pictures of those women being shouted down. And look at Fred Sargeant attacked for saying 'hateful' things. Then look at the reaction to these people calling for actual violence. Can't see anyone challenging it.

So it's all very well for these Scottish politicians to claim they don't share these sentiments and didn't know the signs were there, but there they were standing at a demo where these people were holding signs and don't seem to have been challenged by the rest of the community - who famously don't have a problem getting violent with people they do disagree with.

Maybe next time these women should look into what the people they are so joyfully supporting actually want.

This.
I don't believe for a second these women or their fellow demonstrators didn't see the sign. They're eagle-eyed when it comes to spotting the "wong" messages on signs, clothes etc. They just didn't feel Decapitate Terfs was unacceptable. I mean, why would they? This is a movement that believes, along with tyrants everywhere, that the means is justified by the end. This perfect end where transwomen are indistinguishable from actual women because "cis women have broad shoulders/receding hairlines/5 o'clock shadow/are 6 foot 6 too", and are thought of as girls even though they're in their 50s, and go to sleepovers where they do makeovers and have pillow fights. And obviously it's the terfs who stand in the way of this utopia.

And, giving these two women the benefit of the doubt still makes them look incredibly stupid mobile.twitter.com/glosswitch/status/1616880302516834305?cxt=HHwWgsC8vbGEqPAsAAAA

Someone said that sex is not one of the categories in hate speech legislation because if it was, the police would have time for nothing else but policing misogynist speech. IOW, it is so common that it is in one sense accepted as the-way-things-are.

These signs (the decapitation and the cannibalistic ones) could, perhaps, be seen as a form stochastic terrorism? I have read several TRAs argue that any gender critical argument or question, however, polite, is a form of stochastic terrorism against transgender people, as it encourages some unrelated people to go and attack them. So if that were true, then this would certainly qualify, as it is a direct recommendation for action.

It’s stark to see others protected but when we’re not this is what we have aimed at us.

The violent language stands out even more now, for other groups there have been arrests.

I think they do care and that they are happy to be associated with them, to burnish their credentials of righteousness. There's absolutely no way that they didn't see the signs, despite their wriggling. They have no business being near the levers of power.

Lundy Bancroft has written entire books on this.

One of the hallmarks of a male abuser is an allocation of wholly differing standards. What he expects, sees as his due, and feels fully entitled to punish others for not providing.... and the crumbs of what he will permit to his female partner, and what he sees as her due.

He is entitled to hit her if he feels angry: she may not raise her voice.
He is entitled to come and go as he pleases; she may not be where he does not agree.
He is entitled to spend as much as he wishes on the food he enjoys, take aways and hobbies; she is allocated a tiny sum per meal for herself and the children with punishment for overspending or breaking this rule.

And so on. It is a part of the coercive control, a part of the abuse. A part of the dehumanising that allows his ego to justify that he is not a bad person for behaving in this way.

Bancroft, in extensive work with these men in programmes often enforced by court and prison, identifies the capacity for progress or change in such men being extremely low. Largely he encourages the abused women partners to develop their own boundaries and escape to healthier people and relationships.

This board and the relationships board have always been focused on exactly the same core thing.
