Aspergirl77 · 16/01/2023 18:35

Yeeeeeesssss!!!!!😁

LlynTegid · 16/01/2023 18:35

Pleased but surprised.

My guess at the compromise is a minimum age of 18 and the amendment proposed which would not change the law for those in prison.

Aposterhasnoname · 16/01/2023 18:36

Fantastic news

SharonEllis · 16/01/2023 18:37

Thank you to the magnificent women who have put their head above the parapet and fought this every step of the way.

www.thepinknews.com/2023/01/16/jasmine-star-mack-violentely-killed-in-washington-dc/

A black trans-women was stabbed to death in the US, believed to be the first transperson to fall victim to a violent hate crime in the US this year.

“Her murder is a reminder that trans lives, and particularly black trans lives, are under increasing threat as a wave of anti-trans legislation continues to sweep the US.
“Anti-trans legislators – and the media that enables them – spread misinformation and influence public attitudes, fuelling hate towards trans people,” Madeleine said.

Roughly four women a week are killed in the uk. That’s actual women not trans identified men. Misogyny is a huge problem and the attitude to this whole debate from so much of the mainstream media shows very plainly how much our society still hates and demeans women.

IncompleteSenten · 16/01/2023 18:38

Finally! Common sense.

TinselAngel · 16/01/2023 18:39

It's a minor setback GrinGrinGrinFlowers

Measured response from the commentators of Penis News.

1/ Tories are literal fash
2/ yey we are breaking up the Union (they think this cos they operate in their special bubbles and wouldn't know what a normal Scot would think about anything)

Surely this will mean that the adverse effect on women is now properly discussed in the mainstream media? I hope so.

The bbc report as usual focused almost entirely on trans identified males needs and demands and didn’t specify womens concerns. We have further to go on this to make our voices heard.

Swissmountains · 16/01/2023 18:41

Well this worked well for NS. The hospitals have years long waiting lists for simple scans - reported today. The schools are grinding to a total halt. People are striking everywhere. She has mismanaged accounts.
Support is bleeding out, she badly, very badly needed a new fight against Westminster to rally the troops and get that hatred back pumping through the veins and the nation, and this is it!

The only small wee fly in the broth is that next to non one in Scotland actually supports this legislation whatsoever - it has zero public support and even within her tightly knitted party there is very vocal opposition that is growing and becoming much more confident.

This is a great day for the women and girls of Scotland.
This is a great day for unity and for the rights of women that for thousands of years have had to tolerate the violence and oppression from men.

OlleOskiFelle · 16/01/2023 18:42

Right now I'm just relieved, I live in Scotland and don't want any of this misogynistic shit show.

HootyMcboob76 · 16/01/2023 18:43

Your article is wrong on a number of accounts, but the line "intersex people make up 2% of the population" is TOTAL BOLLOCKS and puts the rest of the article into question to say the least.

DSD account for only 0.018% of live births.
The 2% stat is wildly exaggerated because TRAs have used it to push their agenda that somehow trans and DSDs are both provable medical conditions and prove a sexual spectrum.

(It doesn't, and one of them is not)

When examining a skeleton, Osteoarchaeologists often consider both the physical characteristics of the skeleton, while also considering evidence of the person’s gender identity

Omg! Archaeologists have lost the plot too then?

I recall there have been recent cases of archaeologists having to row back on assumptions about significant burials being male because they were buried with weapons etc and weapons = warrior = man, except the remains were female. Of course any historical woman, fictional or otherwise, who stepped out of the pink sparkly lady container is now being retrospectively transed. These sexists never stop to consider that there have always been exceptional women in many, many walks of life. It simply does not compute in their tiny, blinkered binary world. So much for a spectrum!

"the Scottish government is likely to mount a legal challenge in response."

There's still a chance...

Anyway it would appear most gender-criticals are the older generation. Not to worry, just give it another couple of decades and you will find most of society will be LGBT+ supportive.

Even if it doesn't pass this time, it will in the not-too-distant future :)

Don't worry PIE the future will no doubt also bring a test, so we can see for sure who's souls are in the wrong body. Etc

What happened to that big announcement on tests I wonder. Would be so so helpful.

most Scots do support LGB rights and this this ideology is hateful to LGB people as well as women. Evidence shows most Scots young and old don’t support this bill - facts and facts and people should not be permitted to change their official documents to say something that is untrue.

WhiteFire · 16/01/2023 18:46

I watch lots of real crime / murder shows. In the US 3 women a DAY are killed by an intimate partner. That means a rough figure of 45 WOMEN so far this year.

Not 1 but 45.

It's not a hate crime if a transperson is killed. It's a hate crime if they are BECAUSE they are a transperson. As nobody knows why this person was killed yet you can't claim it's a hate crime. The articles says they were a crack addict living in a really rough area full of other addicts so we need to wait until the facts come out.

TinselAngel · 16/01/2023 18:47

Let's not let this thread be derailed by something entirely unrelated that's happened in America.

RinklyRomaine · 16/01/2023 18:48

Why is anyone posting stories about American trans identified sex workers on a thread about UK involvement in Scottish legislation? I mean, I know why, but what's the actual relevance? Poor Jasmine. Yet another reason why so called sex work is such an abhorrent industry. It's extremely dangerous whatever the sex of the worker. Funny how the gender machine are so pro prostitution, when it's responsible for the vast majority of trans murders.

This idea that it's somehow old people only who object is laughable. Some young people are absolutely captured, but most of the teens I know find gender obsession bizarre and cringeworthy. Young women are just as keen to preserve their dignity as older ones, whether you like it or not.

54isanopendoor · 16/01/2023 18:48

Anothernameonthewall · 16/01/2023 18:30

Nope. Neither of my teen kids nor any of their friends are woke. You're forgetting that they are seeing this at ground zero in scottish schools. They see the kids that are identifying into all the rubbish and see the mess it's making.

As my son said, it's all the attention seeking unpopular kids that identify as non binary.

It's the vulnerable kids that get dragged along too.
eg my Dd, 15, ASD, selectively mute, still takes a teddy bear into School at all times (classed as a fidget toy) & wears headphones & sunglasses to cope. Anyway she has recently been 'adopted' by a group of cool nonbinary kids. School think it's GREAT & phoned me before Xmas to tell me that she 'now wants to be known as (boy name) so we will change the register - we are calling to inform you not ask permission'. Very bad practice to 'out' her like this - for all they knew she doesn't live in a supportive home & might have been in all kinds of trouble. As it is, we've had some sensible conversations (I hope). I took her to a Pride march as she wanted to go alone & I said it would be better to go with me & her big brother. We had a 'nice day out looking at the outfits & got pizza'. It satisfied her curiousity a bit. She wanted to bind so we got a very sturdy sports bra as a compromise (she is very sensory seeking). I talked to her about waiting until her body & mind are more developed before she makes any big / permanant decisions but that she had my love and support always regardless. But, of course, under the current SNP craziness, that's me denying her maleness.

NoFlowersForEmily · 16/01/2023 18:50

Why pretend we can't tell the difference between men and women?
It's gaslighting bullshit.
We can tell, even babies and dogs know the difference.
As for the ageism, not surprising from certain quarters.
I'm 37, hopefully I've got at least another 37 years of votes and protests left in me.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/01/2023 18:51

I'm so pleased the UK Govt has stepped up on this. Will be interesting/worrying to see the effect on support for separation, but it is encouraging to remember what proportion of the population is against the Scottish legislation.

NS was so incensed I assume she let the intern handle her Twitter. Two incorrect uses of "it's" in one sentence. Tsk tsk.

Swissmountains · 16/01/2023 18:51

Actually after years of being pro trans a great deal of my dd's and ds's friends are waking up the cold hard reality of what is happening to women and girls' rights. They are now questioning, very seriously, what has been drummed into them, and are openly on the case. They remain respectful of choice, but seem to feel very strongly about the erosion of another vulnerable group.

So I wouldn't count on your brainwashing to fix the future, I think you will find the backlash in the younger generation is already afoot. It took them a while, but all of these wonderful mothers are pointing out how it will be for them during a smear test with a man called Sharon, or sharing a shower with poppy who has a penis and the real threat to women's sports, rape in prisons and everything else in between.

WE are educating tomorrow's world, not you, and not your well funded groups seeping into our schools and universities margritapie spreading more and more misgyony.

The fightback has landed in parliament at long last.

CrescentCrone · 16/01/2023 18:51

Very pleased to hear this as a scot who was on the fence about independence I'm very pleased that the UK government intervened on this!
