Sorry for the very minor off topic.
Can anyone point me in the directions/rules of how mumsnet treats the posting of details about another user please?
I think some in this thread might be very interested in learning some details. I know I enjoyed a good laugh when I found out.

If you are trying to link a MN username to a real life identity then do not do that.

Brefugee · 18/01/2023 13:40

i don't think there's any need to post details about any posters, other than what they reveal about themselves in a thread. (even cross thread is iffy tbh)

And I've realised that Felix is getting a lot of flack here and have decided that if i do mention them again, it will be without tagging. While i stand by everything I've said, i'm a bit uncomfortable about a(nother) pile on.

Yep. Not cool.

Tbf no-one's forcing them to post. There's a mechanism for avoiding a pile-on, which is not to post volumes of ignorant, tone deaf shit.

Brefugee · 18/01/2023 13:52

Well, yes, that is true. And i will still engage sometimes and will mention by name. but without tagging. I've been thinking a lot about online behaviour, including mine, and i would feel better doing that.

I suspect that may be less of a problem going forwards.

People in domestic abuse relationships will make numerous complaints against their abuser. Each one needs to be investigated fully. We can't simply write off cases because the previous ones didn't go any where.

And yet, here we are.

Perhaps you should suggest this to your colleagues, they clearly don’t feel the same as you.

amp.theguardian.com/society/2022/dec/15/scathing-report-condemns-uk-police-for-victim-blaming-in-cases

“[The report] also found serving officers who “don’t think that [sexual offences] should be a priority for policing”.

justasking111 · 18/01/2023 16:36

A friend whose neighbour was a victim of sustained domestic abuse over a long period it finally got to court. Only to be farcical because all the case notes had been lost. The court wasn't amused but unable to continue. My friend was there to prop her neighbour up courage wise. This was many years ago. I expect it's different now with computers rather than bits of paper.

One of the young women mentioned on this thread reported her ex as a stalker. Didn't mention he was an ex, was prosecuted and fined.
She did report him again, 5 times in all. But he killed her anyway. The police? they don't care about women that is for sure.

Anyone who wants to understand how police officers get away with rape, sexual assault and corruption need only read @Felix125's posts.

What, by me saying that the likes of Carrick should have been jailed a long time ago. That he should have been vetted properly and prevented from joining the police in the first place.

That each report should have been investigated properly and not just swept under the carpet - or dropped when Carrick said that he would return the items he took from a theft he cmmitted.

Every officer should be subject to continued vetting - police should not be involved with rainbow cars, aligning with charities and wearing badges & stickers (poppies & Ukraine badges etc) whilst on duty

How are you surmising your views from what i have posted - since your accusing me of protecting officers like Carrick and saying that i am corrupt???????????????

What i have posted that backs your comments up?

podcast here:

I'm about halfway through, very disturbing about his background and abusiveness towards women

Felix125 · 19/01/2023 10:35

Horrendous cases and they should be rooted out as soon as possible - preferably before they join

Every reported incident should be investigated fully and dealt with properly.

I don't want to work in an organisation that has people like that in it and i will not protect them, despite what people are suggesting in here

Apparently the policemetoo site is getting lots of submissions:

Let's not forget Damien Bendall, who killed his pregnant girlfriend, her two children and another child while on probation: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/damien-bendall-murder-probation-service-failures-b2263029.html

Felix125 · 19/01/2023 14:02

Wasn't that probation service which failed?

SinnerBoy · 19/01/2023 14:05

Here's another one:

uk.yahoo.com/news/serving-police-officer-29-charged-with-rape-and-sexual-assault-094504728.html

A serving police officer has been bailed after he appeared in court charged with rape and sexual assault. PC Kane Haywood stood in the dock at Plymouth Magistrates Court to face three allegations said to have taken place in Exeter in March 2021. The 29-year-old is charged with two counts of rape of a woman aged 16 years or over and sexual assault by penetration.

Time to resign then, eh, @Felix125 ?

Felix125 is so eye opening. Truly demonstrating the careless stupidity and bigotry of the Police.

Why?

Why should I resign...?

Or are you still suggesting that I am protecting them.....?

In what sense - that case was a failing by the probation service. Nothing to do with the police, since this thread is about police failings.

Because you said that you [didn't] want to work in an organisation that has people like that in it''. But seem determined to defend its failings at every touch and turn. So it will never change.

LexMitior · 19/01/2023 14:34

@justasking111 - I don't think so.

One of the issues in domestic abuse is what gets recorded. Now your average police officer is just not going to record all the ins and outs of the perception of a victim. They may take very minimal notes (body cam does help a little). It can be quite the shock to a victim of crime as to the institutional response by the police. Why do cases not make it? Paucity of effort, evidence and information. No prosecution.

And that's the day job. On accountability for themselves, well, it might be said there are similar issues. No records means no action, unhelpful records, no action.

Felix125 · 19/01/2023 14:39

thedancingbear

How am I defending its failings....?

Sorry to go on - but you're accusing me of things I'm just not doing
