  1. The Tate decides to host DQSH
  1. Art not Propaganda, together with Safe Schools Alliance, start a petition on change.org
  1. Petition disappears!
  1. New petition gathers momentum. Usual suspects start spitting feathers
  1. Probably because of all this, the Telegraph have uncovered some well dodgy educational materials being produced by Tate Galleries.

And I am now looking up Linda Stuparts projects and trying to make sense of this word smorgasbord:

The project conflates different discourses around objects; those of the art object, an object oriented ontology (via Speculative Realism), sexual objectification (via second wave feminist conceptions of the male gaze, queer theory and post-feminism) and the psychoanalytical object. The project proposes that a new ethical and aesthetic position may be gleaned from making and writing contemporary art from specific positions of objecthood.

A non-division, or absence of relation; voiding of distance, which I propose as the post-critical empathetic exchange of objects, is played out through my practice, which enacts a non-division between writing and making; experimenting with intimacy, embodied critique and realisms without representation

Thematically, the work situates my ‘self’ as material – working with strategies of confessional, critique and fictional writing and image/object production in relation to other kinds of materials and in particular relation to productions of images, art and art worlds.

Thanks for the information about the flags. I had wondered when I saw the 'Pi' symbol but didn't want to assume.

PI is a signifier of PIE. The Paedophile Information Exchange.

Anything with the PI signifier on it doesn't mean 'we like maths' nor does it mean 'We sleep with as many people in open relationships as we want to'.

Talk about hiding in plain sight!

@ShireWifeofNigelFarage
"Weird to get to 2023 and find yourself thinking ‘Maybe Mary Whitehouse was just misunderstood?’"

Aye! I listened to that BBC radio prog about her last year thinking the same

That Tate guidance for schools was a shocker. Yes to Art Not Propaganda!

@ScrollingLeaves Don't you think that posting a link to the mumsnet petition 13 times on this thread so far, the ipetition link 8 times, and the same triggernometry video 6 times is a bit much?!

This isn't an instagram story where things disappear after 24 hours... FFS stop spamming. An otherwise interesting discussion becomes barely readable with your constant posting of the same thing over and over.

The reason for re-posting something like the Helen Joyce video because she talks about DQSH, is that people don’t always have time to read the whole thread. Also, threads do sort of end all the time.

Discussions alone won’t get the petition signed and it is that, not discussions, which might have an impact on the Tate’s approach.

But I take your point, and won’t do it anymore.

I noticed that there were quite a few placards from a group called "Patriotic Alternative" at the Tate protest against drag queens.

This was the same group active in Knowsley protesting against asylum seekers. They have many documented links with the extreme right.

I wonder if @scrollingleaves who has been so active in organising the protest on Mumsnet has any connection with Patriotic Alternative?

IcakethereforeIam · 14/02/2023 20:05

@ScrollingLeaves has been an absolute star raising the profiles of petitions on various threads on MN.

@artlove where are the posts about organising a protest? Have I missed them? Or have you misunderstood? If the latter, perhaps ask for your post to be withdrawn.

artlove · 14/02/2023 20:11

If @scrollingleaves is not part of "Patriotic Alternative" I'm sure they will express their dismay about them participating at a protest at the tate

PonyPatter44 · 14/02/2023 20:26

Ohh i get it, @artlove- if you are opposed to anything in the genderqueer alphabet soup, you must be an actual far right Nazi. As opposed to just being a boring old woman dismayed by the endemic queering of children.

Funnily enough I am too old, too non-white, and too lefty to be bothered about being lumped in with the FREs. I'm not frightened of them either.

artlove · 14/02/2023 21:39

If you go to a demonstration waving a far right placard then I think you are probably far right, yes.

artlove · 14/02/2023 21:45

No terves in that photo - it’s irrelevant to us.

What tenuous point are you desperately grasping for?

artlove · 14/02/2023 21:39

If you go to a demonstration waving a far right placard then I think you are probably far right, yes.

So if you go to a demonstration carrying a placard advocating for killing women, does that make you a woman hating, misogynistic sexist pig?

artlove · 14/02/2023 21:54

I'm pointing out that you are sharing causes and slogans with the extreme right. I suspect that there are a few groomers on here too.

Maybe it doesn't trouble you. But there are repeated posts claiming that the suffragettes didn't get women the vote, that Mary Whitehouse was just misunderstood - some very troubling posts about a murdered young woman that has led to at least two threads being deleted

If you are unconcerned about this I think that says something about you and your politics

Helleofabore · 14/02/2023 21:55

Oh another lazy attempt to portray women posting on MN FWR as far right.

What a surprise! It must be a day ending in a ‘y‘!

artlove · 14/02/2023 21:56

A poster is pointing out that people who frequent this little corner of Mumsnet are making common cause with the far right.

You don't represent all women. Thanks goodness

Happylittlechicken · 14/02/2023 22:00

I'm pointing out that you are sharing causes and slogans with the extreme right. I suspect that there are a few groomers on here too.

really? What causes do you think the men in that photo and feminists share? Do you think those men iN the photo you shared are advocating for womens rights
a trustee of mermaids was found to be pro pedophilia. Does that mean all those who believe in trans ideology are pro pedophilia? A transwoman raped two women and got sent to female prison. Does that mean all transwomen are rapists?

another transwoman kidnapped a child. Does that mean all transwomen are kidnappers?

see what happens when you try to force team groups?

artlove · 14/02/2023 22:01

Why are you changing the subject?

How very unusual. That some posters resort to making clearly false accusations in an attempt to shame posters into silence.

And what specifically do women on this board believe that is not representative of the majority of women?

Helleofabore · 14/02/2023 22:06

artlove · 14/02/2023 22:01

Why are you changing the subject?

Who is changing the subject?

Is the topic right now on this thread about guilt by common cause? Even if wanting a similar outcome (not necessarily the exact same outcome) is motivated by very different reasons.

If some posters which to use that tactic to portray women disagreeing with them as being far right, well the let’s look at other movements and who are working towards similar goals and their ‘associations’ too.

So it is right on topic.

Happylittlechicken · 14/02/2023 22:07

@artlove huh? Who is changing the subject? I’m mainly asking if you think feminists are in league with the far right, then you must also believe gender ideologists are sex offenders, as some trans activists have committed such crimes, or expressed pro pedophilic views? John Money was a pedophile apologist who forced siblings to commit incest in his ‘experiments’. Do you share his views? Peter tatchell claimed not all sex between adults and children was wrong? Do you share his views? They both believe in gender like you so we must assume you share those views right?
