We all knew it was coming... 'Trans-Age' is here

I've seen some posts on Twitter from profiles claiming to be 'Trans-Age' i.e they identify with a different age...

transage.carrd.co/#faq

''Transage is an umbrella term referring to those whose age identity does not align with their chronological age. It's a label that encompasses a wide range of experiences. It includes those who identify as older than their chronological age, those who identify as younger than their chronological age, and even those who are outside of the age-binary (such as agen't or xenoage individuals).''

Nicola Sturgeon will love this

Slothtoes · 04/01/2023 06:20

No way is this OK. celebrating people’s sexual fetishes or untreated mental health problems is awful
This needs to be be accepted by absolutely no professional anywhere as an identity choice.

I've just finished watching My Old School which tells the true story of a 30-something year old man who re-enrols at his old Glasgow secondary school and pretends to be 16/17. This took place in the 90s and incredibly no-one questioned his looks or back story! It only gets weirder as the story unfolds.

Thoroughly recommended, Alan Cumming narrates as the chap in question, plenty of the 90s peers and teachers are on hand to tell the story and it's directed by one of them!

I imagine it's available on iPlayer.

I watched that- I remember when it happened as well.

interesting viewing.

Didn’t Cameron Crowe do some the big similar- although the motivation for that seems more to help his career (ie he got a book which was turned into a film out of it).

ApocalipstickNow · 04/01/2023 07:03

Something- some the big makes no sense!

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 04/01/2023 07:08

This is pathetic. Why on earth are people pandering to others mental illnesses?! I'm not going to play along with other peoples delusions. There's more danger to women now, now it's going to be to children.

It’s the slippery slope towards legalising the activities of “MAPs” - Minor Attracted Persons. AKA paedos. Trans was only a stop along the way to the main destination.

Exactly this.

Oh, mine has an embroidered Eiffel Tower on it.

I once went to a party as the Eiffel Tower.

Now that's commitment to an identity. Hand me my French passport cet instant, s'il vous plaît.

Im all for people being who they want to be, but why do we have to label absolutely everything 🤔
IMO people have a right to be who they want to be and love who they want to love.... I don’t know why people can’t except that, but it’s hard trying to keep up with all of these new terms...

So you're fully ok with adult men loving kids? Did you mean to say that out loud?

Apparantly March the 1st is going to be the 'TransAge visibility day'

Surely that should be April 1st?

I think this clarifies things:

FFS!

Have you ever actually thought about this and extrapolated where it could go if it followed the same path as transgender?

I can only assume a poster lives in a land where ‘everything is awesome’, where there is no ‘Kragle’ and there is never any crime or abuse for a post like this to be written.

MadZott · 04/01/2023 08:18

I've used this as an example for ages when discussing trans issues with my 'be kind' mum.

I genuinely find the fact I am no longer young distressing. I found the optician telling me I need glasses because my eyes are suffering issues associated with age alarming. I feel real pangs about not being eligible for a Young Person's Railcard....

The answer is not to tell me I'm younger than I am, give me identity documents with a new dob on and all refer to me as young when biological reality is clearly elsewhere. It's obvious that the right thing to do is to sympathise with my feelings and what they're about, but gently but firmly draw the line about the facts.

Exactly the same as gender.

Kucingsparkles · 04/01/2023 08:19

A long time ago, on a talkboard far far away, I engaged in a discussion with a BeKind poster to whom I asked the question "What is the difference between somebody identifying as the opposite sex, vs a different age or race or nationality or disability etc? Especially given that, of all those things, sex is the least "spectrumy/fluidy"?).

I'm sure you're all curious what the BeKind poster replied.

Well, here it is (paraphrased because it was a long time ago): "I'm sure I read a really convincing article online that explained precisely why sex/gender is the special thing in which feelings inside one's head override reality, but not those other things. But I can't recall or find a link to that really convincing article. But nevertheless I still believe in BeKind for sex/gender alone, OK? I find the existence of this thread triggering and will avoid it for all eternity."

Pretty much of all of it!

I imagine nurseries/foster agencies/schools will be bracing themselves for being sued for not admitting the "child".

On the story about Brandon Lee who pretended he was younger get get back to school. This was almost 30 years ago. He was not asking anyone else to collude in his deception which is the case with all this "identifying" as a different age. There was also never any indication that his deception was about exerting power over other people, or getting a sexual kick from it, or getting access to teenage girls/boys by pretending to be younger. Going back to school was purely a means to an end for him, to get the qualifications to get into medical school after failing first time round. It's a fascinating story - the guy lives fairly locally to me and is still, at the age of 60 odd, trying to find a med school to take him.

He's quite mentally unwell, there was a very good film about the whole thing called "My Old School" which was shown on BBC over Christmas and should be available on iplayer.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 04/01/2023 08:29

i wouldn't mind a bit of free cosmetic surgery.
i'm 65 and identify as 20something. a tummy tuck, facelift and blepharoplasty would really help my mental health.

I wonder how many people will be 'transing' to a significantly higher age? Will there be a call for 'face-lowerings', adding more wrinkles, making knees dodgy etc.?

Findwen · 04/01/2023 09:08

"Hello police ? I have just had sex with my spouse, but I identify as a 11 year old - please can you come and arrest them".

Comedycook · 04/01/2023 09:17

I hope the next thing to emerge will be transfinancial. I've been suffering for years with it. I identify as a millionaire but my bank won't accept that I am one.

MichelleScarn · 04/01/2023 09:22

PurpleBurglarAlarm · 04/01/2023 02:03

This is brilliant. I always regret not working hard enough at school. I’m going to identify myself back into primary school and give it another go.

No need you just identify as someone with a double first from Cambridge. Now where is your certificate or they are literally killing you @PurpleBurglarAlarm!!

SockGoddess · 04/01/2023 09:32

And another thing! (I’ve been fuming to myself about this overnight😡) if male offenders are going to have their sexual desires and fetishes met while in prison - first access to vulnerable trapped women, now having your fetishes accommodated - it’s basically encouraging dangerous men to commit an offence (quite likely a sexual offence) so they can go to prison and enjoy basically a sex offending/fetish-indulging life handed to them on a plate. We know that predatory and paraphilic men will go out of their way to get what they want, and if prison gives them what they want sexually then this is potentially really harmful.

Musomama1 · 04/01/2023 09:33

Hmmm, where will this all end? I wonder...

CrunchyCarrot · 04/01/2023 09:39

Personally I'm waiting for Trans Species so I can self identify as a Dragon.

To me, all this trans stuff is just make believe on another level. I want to pretend I am really 25 even though I am 65. But to say I actually AM 25, well that's just deluded.

SockGoddess · 04/01/2023 09:42

Kucingsparkles I’ve also asked the same question many times on here and been mysteriously ignored by otherwise quite shouty pro-Genderism posters, so hey at least yours tried to cobble together a “reply” Grin

I also asked my genderwoo-bashing, preachy “queer” relative. They answered “race isn’t the same as gender”. That was their answer. Of course it’s not the exact same thing, but I pointed out that race is comparable to sex (not gender) as a physical reality that affects people’s lives and entails discrimination, like sex. Except race is far, far more of a spectrum and I have far more physically and genetically in common with every woman on the planet than I do with any man, so if I can identify as the opposite sex and demand to be believed, why not the same with race. (NB I don’t for a second think I should be able to, but I was pointing out the hypocrisy)

I got “it’s complicated and I’ll get back to you on that”. Did they? Erm nope.
