Scottish police use Minor Attracted Person instead of 'paedophile' in report

Chief Constable Iain Livingstone has used the acronym MAP (minor attracted Person) in an annual assessment of the force's work with a European project.

We've all wondered what the + is in LGB and TQIA+ haven't we? Well perhaps now we know. As the Telegraph says:

The term MAP is contentious because child abusers are trying to escape the stigma attached to paedophilia and maintain they should be regarded as a niche group alongside the LGBT community.

As a member of the LGB community I object. Archived link from the Telegraph:

I have commented on here but could someone please point me to the correct board to ask advice about my past and my relationship with my narcissistic mother now? I've scoured MN and can't find anywhere. Many thanks xxx

Boiled I just read how Steve got out of prison where he should have been locked up for life for what he had done before, then, if I have understood correctly, your mother took up with him knowing all about him, then he raped you. Is that right? It is
one of the most horrifying things I have ever heard. The people who let him out should be prosecuted too imo.

There are threads about this with a strange title, something like,
’But we took you to stately homes.’

Probably the Relationships board would be best.

it was erm...interesting to discover those facts.

I'd always made excuses for her like she didn't know, she wasn't paying attention, she was a just a lousy mother but to find out she knew and let him move in and would leave him to look after me alone. Let's say it was a good job she was already dead otherwise I'd be writing this from Holloway.

The tribunal judge at the compensation hearing was rather...shocked as she enquired as to whether I'd ever considered suing the Probation Service.

And@WingingItSince1973 the stately homes thread in the relationships board is definitely a thread where people will totally get you and your relationship with your mother

@ScrollingLeaves and just to completely clarify not only did she know his previous convictions she also knew he intended to rape one of the children in the house. The PO explicitly told her that fact and that if Steve did rape one of us she would go to prison as well. And still she let him move in

IcakethereforeIam · 02/01/2023 23:43

@Boiledbeetle Steve died unloved and in chains. The only people near him were paid to be there. His body was buried, unmourned in a pauper's grave. I expect at the bitter end he was lonely and frightened. I hope so.

According to the report that is exactly what happened. His ex wasnt interested when informedd of his demise. So yeah the prison service buried him. Shame.

And to bring this more back to the actual thread, it doesnt matter what somone like Steve is called, paedophile, Minor Atracted Person, murderer, rapist. He was always going to do the things he did no matter what label was put on him or which boxes someone could use to describe his proclivitiesout

bad men are bad men no matter what they are called by the public or whatever they chose to call themselves.

Honestly Boiledbeetle, I read your posts with my jaw on the floor and my heart rate increasing.

Some people are incomprehensibly and irredeemably bad.

Boiledbeetle · 03/01/2023 02:01

@Datun can you see why I've been raging enough to get rather a few posts deleted over the past couple of days.

I can. And, as ever, I wish a parenting site would accommodate and support women writing about CSA rather than censor them.

Boiledbeetle · 03/01/2023 08:20

I'll give them their due on this one, whilst I'm sure the troublesome posters were doing all they could to ensure that so many posts had to be deleted that mumsnet would just zap the whole thread MNHQ have let it stand despite some of the posts remaining that wouldnt normally on any other thread.

The posts they did remove of mine from other threads, I do admit now the absolute rage that bubbled in me has dissipated, were probably (?) on the wrong side of the Talk guidelines. (Although I do question the removal of one calling someone a disingenuous pillock! especially as i, in the same post, wished them a Happy New Year)

We can only hope by this time next year our words are allowed to stand as they are proud and free just like Elaine's merkin.

ScrollingLeaves · 03/01/2023 09:40

Boiled what is so terrible is that what happened to you needn’t have. No wonder the judge asked if you had considered suing the probation service. Something was very wrong with your mother too,
and possibly long before Steve came on the scene. He may have been one of those psychopaths who are somehow very good at manipulating and overwhelming people but in his case the proof was already there about what he would do.

Someone like him won’t ever be ‘cured’ and should never be let out of prison.

Boiledbeetle · 03/01/2023 15:24

@ScrollingLeaves he met a kindred spirit in my mother and yeah her need to put her self first pre dated him by many years. She always put cock before kids.

Both of them, I'm convinced were psychopaths.

Both incredibly charming people, good looking couple, my mother to the outside world was this amazing woman and behind the door she beat and starved her kids and shut them under the stairs.

I sometimes find it hard to reconcile the two completely separate memory groups I have of her. It was like night and day.

And Steve, as they used to say, could sell ice to the Eskimos.

He pulled the wool over too many peoples eyes and I really fear that we are currently letting ourselves get back to a point where the bad men are back to being able to get one over on the good guys by taking advantage of be nice be kind to the poor perverted paedophile. He can't help it. It's innate. It may well be but it doesn't make it fixable.

Personally I don't give a toss if it's innate or not. If it is innate and that's your thing then I won't villify I will pity you, but the second you do one, one single solitary thing outside of your head in the real world then there's no turning back. Because at some point given the opportunity they will offend.

I do think that whilst the actual PO at the probation service did as much as the law would allow him the probation service were ultimately to blame. By not doing something. Good knows what, but something.

However, I would have thought the HOME OFFICE did have the power to revoke his life licence if he wasn't fit to be in society. He said he was going to rape his girlfriends child. Why didn't they recall him to prison? Because those aren't the thoughts of the supposed reformed sane upstanding member of the community he was now meant to be.

This is really horrifying to read. I’m so sorry. I can’t begin to imagine what it must be like knowing that your “mother” knowingly enabled your abuser. It’s incomprehensible.

You mentioned that the PO told her she could go to prison too if Steve did rape one of the children. I don’t know if I missed what you said about her, did she?

As I understand it all stepfathers and boyfriends are potentially a particular risk to children, even if there are many good ones too.

People like Steve are inconceivably monstrous.

To everyone on this thread who was preyed on by a paedophile and was unprotected by their family before and then afterwards too, I am sure nothing can be said to make it better by someone here but 💐💐💐💐

Boiledbeetle · 03/01/2023 22:40

She was already dead by the time I went to the police. I honestly think I would have done her serious harm had she still been alive when I discovered her part in it.

I'm so shocked that safeguarding is going back to these levels of trusting bad people to do the right thing.

It's appalling

It must have taken great courage to come to terms with your mother’s part after learning about it later. It meant a whole other aspect you had to deal with, as well as Steve, and as well as the paedophile trusted family doctor.

This is very upsetting and concerning to learn. The number is at least seven times higher than previously thought.

Number of British paedophiles may be far higher than thought | Child protection | The Guardian

amp.theguardian.com/society/2019/may/14/number-british-paedophiles-higher-thought-nca

Boiledbeetle · 04/01/2023 01:31

Lynne Owens said the revelation came after investigators scoured through sites for paedophiles on the dark web, finding an estimated 144,000 accounts linked to British people.

I'll just leave that there to sink in over night

Boiledbeetle · 04/01/2023 13:46

She said that every month measures were taken to make sure 400 children were safe from paedophiles, and 500 people were arrested in connection with a sexual interest in children. “It brings huge demand. We want to get to the place that we can identify who the very dangerous contact offenders are.”

Boiledbeetle · 04/01/2023 13:46

Owens said preventative programmes warning children of the dangers were now aimed at four- to seven-year-olds whose parents gave them tablet computers, whereas previously they were aimed at those eight years and over.

Boiledbeetle · 04/01/2023 14:15

And that was in 2019 and it's now 2023, technology has advanced and with it:

Paedophiles have become emboldened by lax safeguarding and laws

Usually sane and capable of rational thinking people have been lulled/silenced/brainwashed??? by rebranding, be kind, be polite.I

This stuff is sneaking in on the back of the trans rights issues. This is a different group of people, but they are using the kindness, understanding and inclusion, that is being rightfully given to trans people and using it to gain access to and then, if opportunity arises, to do bad things to children

What is deemed acceptable to have your children exposed to has fallen back into the gutter

And people on Twitter were (although thankfully not using Twitter I have never seen this myself, but by all accounts people thought it acceptable to do) including

"MAP" and "0 - 6 months" in their profile.

Sounds cute and fluffy doesnt it.

Until you translate and what it actually says is:

"I am a grown man.I admit here in public on the internet, with no shame, or fear of vilification, or censure, or arrest that as a 45 year old man, given the chance, and if I knew I could get away with it, I'd ideally love to rape a baby between the ages of birth to 6 months.

At least that's what the age of the baby's in the stash of photos and videos I have are of , and that's what I wank to.

But honestly I get my main thrill whilst I'm shagging my girlfriend, whilst her 4 month old sleeps in the cot within in my eyeline so I just look at the baby throughout.....But I'll settle for anything I can get access to in all honestly "

Now does it sound cute and fluffy?

Now do you think it's OK that these perverts get to define themselves this way?

Now do you think it acceptable to argue the toss over what age child these perverts imagine when they wank?

Now do you see that these are bad men?

Now will you let this continue?

THIS IS WHERE WE ARE AT PEOPLE.

@ScrollingLeaves 🌻thank you for your support and understanding, it's appreciated.

It was rather a head fuck shall we say. Took a long time to climb out the rather deep hole I was already in by that point.

Having had Steve Put me through two years from going to police to Going to trial of pleading not guilty, until minutes before the trial was due to start when he changed his plea to guilty.

The information about my mother pushed me further down into it the depths for a while. But give the NHS their due they do actually provide decent mental health services, well they did for me. Therapy, proper therapy really does work.

Luckily, coming from tough stock, you will not be surprised to discover that in real life I take no shit and grown men look scared when they cause the beetle to boil

I am so glad the NHS provided you with proper therapy which really did help. Reading about what happened to you and others here, I can hardly begin to imagine how difficult it must be.
