@GussetGripper

Do take a bow! (At least, I really think this is you?!)

Because we go high means we are ignored, belittled and shamed. Also I don't think thid is going low, no violence, no damage to property, no intimidation or worse. Men go lower so actually compared to them, we are still on the high road.

I'm not sure "but we're not as bad as them" is a persuasive argument.

Boiledbeetle · 23/12/2022 13:35

You know what if people show the photo of her flashing her leggings and a knitted merkin and wonder what the fuck and just some of them go on the internet and look into it.then job done because it won't take long before they find the penis photos in women's toilets, the nice gentleman playing with his moobs in public in America, his deranged friend alongside with his fists balled screaming these fists don't discriminate I'm a better woman than you'll ever be.it

Hell, just show it alongside the photo of the men on the other side of the viewing area yesterday that should make a lot of people see what's really going on.

VaggieMight · 23/12/2022 13:53

I'm interested to know from those criticising the merkin display, exactly what is an appropriate response to male sex offenders being given access to women's single-sex spaces?

I'm going to guess at:

Lie back and think of Scotland

terryleather · 23/12/2022 13:57

Centering the penis, flaccid or otherwise, is exactly what's got us into this mess in the first place.

And that's exactly what's happening when you choose to waste time criticising Elaine and not the utter disgrace of a parliament that passed a Bill that centres men and their wants and preferences over my sex based rights and those of every other woman and girl in Scotland.

Something with words, maybe. I'm interested to know why the merkin would be appropriate or even effective.

All it will achieve is getting one image plastered across the papers and a sizeable amount of the country rolling their eyes at what they perceive to be an extremist protester with poor taste. I think it will alienate people, not draw them to the cause.

Oh sorry I don’t know what previous username you had when you criticised those MRAs on the appropriate threads.

like I’m totally sure you did.

I nearly always use this username. I have learned hugely from the Feminist boards, but rarely if ever post. What is your point?

At least she didn't play the piano with it.

Made my day with that, thanks!😹

What I've seen is a large number of trans supportive people on social media enthusiastically posting about the merkin as evidence that the opposition had no valid arguments against the GRC reform and are just weird exhibitionists. So, they are definitely eager to make sure more people know about the incident.

BedTaker · 23/12/2022 15:16

'When they go low, we go high'.

Except Jo Rowling did go high, and experienced a deluge of abuse including rape and death threats as a result.

I'm loving the fact that we are actually discussing this and debating whether this is good for the movement or not.

When prominent members of Mermaids plastered their multiple dicks on Twitter (Darren Mew) and were exposed as, at best, a paedophile apologist (Jacob Breslow), TRAs brushed it under the carpet. Dont mention it. Pretend that the criticism of thr charitynisn totally unfounded and has come out of nowhere. Because their ideology and movement is so fragile that they cannot acknowledge anything potentially damning at all. There cannot be any dissent within the ranks.

Our movement is not fragile, its strong. Which is why disagreement and debate within it is allowed. Bring it on!

HootyMcboob76 · 23/12/2022 15:24

If only people got so upset about an actual man flashing his actual cock in women's spaces.

As she said...get it right up ye.

Proud fellow Scot here. She was brilliant and righteously angry.

Genitals are only acceptable when they are male ones attached to an actual man who thinks he's a woman and who wants to get them out in proximity to women and girls in women's spaces.

Or something.

LOVING the picture saying "men crying with happiness because they can now use women's toilets". Says it all really.

DialSquare · 23/12/2022 15:29

Is it a coincidence that this has been in The Mail today and the petition to update the Equality Act has had many more signatures?

Blister · 23/12/2022 17:45

Do people find female pubic hair impolite? Sex was replaced by gender because people couldn't bring themselves to say "sex" originally. Now it seems those who don't know its a merkin are too uncomfortable to call it public hair... what is going on? Are people just afraid of saying what they see?

Blister · 23/12/2022 17:46

Pubic not public .

My point is you criticise this action but not the many many instances by MRAs?

always possible you have under a different name (many posters change frequently). Apparently not.

I'm sure she would, but this thread isn't about them, its about Gussie in the Scottish parliament.

It's such a stupid argument to tell someone they can't comment on one thing if you haven't personally seen them comment (in what you deem to be the right way) on another.

She used words. She said:

If this parliament will not respect the rights of women then you have no decency.

And if you will not be decent towards women who are being raped right now, in jails that you're in charge of, if you will not be decent then I will be indecent.

Get it right up yers!

You terrible, terrible people!

I thought that was very clear and I agree. Shame on every MSP who voted for this. It's beyond indecent, it's obscene.

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/12/2022 20:01

Thanks, @Lockheart

Apocalips, I did criticise them in the very post you quote.

In my post at 10.16 I quoted thus
ApocalipstickNow · Today 09:28
Clearly she should have
“just” thrown a smoke bomb
pissed herself in public
played keyboards with her genitals
attached a dildo to a rainbow outfit
because all that would be absolutely fine and minimised by our friendly neighbourhood drive by shamers

And said I found all these things to be tacky, horrible, and offensive.

Mostly I read, not post. And much of the time I agree. Are you suspicious of me because I don't post much on the Feminist threads?

It makes no difference to me if the bush was knitted or not, it's still tacky. Aren't we fighting for the dignity of women, after all?

LangClegsInSpace · 23/12/2022 20:26

Where is the dignity for women in prison, locked up with abusive men?

Lockheart · 23/12/2022 20:39

Thelnebriati · 23/12/2022 20:57

Words work when we are debating as equals. In this situation 'stick to using words' is like demanding women go to relationship counselling with their abuser.

I think some of you are a bunch of hypocrites when there were children there. I think Janey Godley tweets sums it up for me honestly ….
Gender critical WomenWontWeesht are upset about the thought of trans women near them so they protested at Scottish parliament by flashing her fake fanny to prove her point about safety. I hope she gets a taxi home ok tonight and stays safe.
#WomenWontWeesht “we think trans women have fake genitals and they are a danger to kids”.

Also #WomenWontWeesht “I have worn a fake vagina to flash at the public gallery to prove the SNP are monsters for the GRA in the Scottish parliament”

I don't think anyone is fretting over transwomen's hypothetical 'fake genitals'.

Fewer than 5% of transwomen have surgically altered genitals.

The vast majority of them have completely normally functioning penises & testicles, just like most men.

Whether or not transwomen are more/less/equal in the level of threat they present to 'kids', in comparison to a) women & b) other males, is likely to form an interesting ongoing study.

But no fake genitals are involved. Just boring old cocks.

Meanwhile, the female protestor was wearing a pair of tights with a merkin, or pube wig, attached. No genitals involved whatsoever.
