@GussetGripper

Do take a bow! (At least, I really think this is you?!)

OK, I've done my homework now, I've read the comments and links in this thread and I'm pleased to report that now I get the message! Nothing to add, but thank you to the posters who've explained and linked.

TRA's when a naked adult male with a semi erect penis enters the women only part of a spa where girls are also present, "you should teach your kid not to look at others people's junk".

TRA's when a fully clothed adult female makes a political protest, " public nudity is crude".

It's really no wonder women think this is a men's rights movement.

Do you remember when @MishyJDI thought the Wi Spa incident was a set up and that it was a shame women were framing a trans person like that, and it turned out it was a known sex offender who was finally arrested a few days ago with charges of indecent exposure?

So public “nudity” by a woman is crude, but public nudity with a semi erect penis belonging to a known sex offender in s women’s only space is fine and dandy.

I didn't know about the Kurdish women. Thanks.

She raised awareness - even if people are like WTF at her antics, they will know more about what's going on.

I think this is the crux of it.

Sauce for the goose, my dears.

Then, as soon as it's one of your own, she's a hero and bold and referencing ancient Persia and any objections are demanding women just be kind. It's just utter hypocrisy.

Except... no genitals were delineated nor clearly on show. She was fully clothed. In a parliament building. In front of adults.

The hypocrisy is yours. Own it!

ApocalipstickNow · 23/12/2022 09:28

Clearly she should have

“just” thrown a smoke bomb
pissed herself in public
played keyboards with her genitals
attached a dildo to a rainbow outfit

because all that would be absolutely fine and minimised by our friendly neighbourhood drive by shamers

Exactly.

Banging a keyboard with your flaccid penis however is stunning and brave.

Had enough of these rape apologist clowns now.

All those things are tack, horrible and offensive.
So was this.

Oh sorry I don’t know what previous username you had when you criticised those MRAs on the appropriate threads.

like I’m totally sure you did.

@sunshineandstrawberryjam Very well said. I find the toddler mentality of “they did it first” completely exhausting.

We now just have two particularly vocal groups of crazed, rabid extremists, while the vast majority of grown ups (women and, no doubt, men) just look on with embarrassment or try to ignore them and get on with the real issues.

This guy? I think Mishy said that the young girls present at the spa 'shouldn't look' at the convicted sex offender's erect penis.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11555915/Transgender-pervert-arrested-15-months-exposed-women-Wi-Spa-LA.html

But Mishy is outraged at a woman with a merkin sewed to a pair of tights (no nudity at all) staging a political point?

Mishy, your hypocrisy is showing.

sunshineandstrawberryjam · 23/12/2022 11:32

@Janesmom - yes, agreed. That is exactly how I feel. And it's excruciating.

You seem to be the only ones making that claim. We are just pointing out your hypocrisy.

EM/Gussie was not naked. Had no genitals on show. Was not flashing on front of kids. Was not fulfilling a fetish.

She was making an age old political statement. In a parliament.

Lay down your handmaiden comfy cushion.

Find your anger. Your rights are being taken from you as well as any other woman. Women and children are being stripped of many essential safeguarding mechanisms.

If you are of the persuasion that thinks transwomen raping women anywhere they have been placed by organisations who comply with TWAW are no bother, don't happen often enough to be an issue, or are simply a fucking dogwhistle then just bloody say so, so we tell you how far to piss off!

If, however, you do think that such incidents are a problem then shut up, sit down and try thinking!

Yes, because so many transwomen have a bushed vagina to flash. Whilst this wasn't even a bushed vagina. And nowhere near a transwoman playing the piano on tv with their penis. But nothing left unturned to beat women into silence with, right?

I first said I was in doubt about her action, after educating myself on what she did and referenced, I say bravo. And transactivists are just showing their true colours in that they refuse to learn about anything new. Talk about entrenched views

i don’t know why people keep referring to the FNL thing, a late night channel 4 comedy show is a very different context from this.

not that personally I think what she did was wrong, but I do think there are some double standards going on with regard to how people on both sides who clearly feel very deeply and personally about the issues choose to express their anger and frustration.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 23/12/2022 12:39

FFS! It isn't about contexts. It is about the automatic leap to laud men with tits and a penis, to acknowledge their stunning bravery. Whilst simultaneously denigrating any women show stand up and says fuck off!

Do you really find a fully clothed woman unveiling a merkin in a specific political area more repulsive, shocking, unacceptable than a man stripping down to his chemically enhanced tits and flaccid piano playing penis on national television?

Think it through before answering. Fully clothed woman, political statement; naked man stripping on television...

As another poster said above, when Joanne Rowling wrote a sensitive, logical, carefully crafted and well thought out essay on the matter she was called a murderer and sent death and rape threats.

When women have tried to discuss it, we are told there is #nodebate to be had.

Well I didn’t find either repulsive, shocking or unacceptable. I think both were brave (notwithstanding that I disagree with EM’s position on trans inclusion)

Lockheart · 23/12/2022 12:57

Sorry but I also find this disappointing to see. Let's face it, if a man wearing tights with visible underwear had flashed a merkin there'd be cries of "pervert" and "deviant" all over the show.

Whatever happened to "when they go low, we go high?"

RoyalCorgi · 23/12/2022 13:01

Probably worth remembering that the suffragettes did things that made people cross, such as burning post boxes and defacing artworks. And much worse things too, including detonating explosive devices.

I mention this purely to make the point that activist groups will almost always engage in activities that anger, shock and (sometimes) endanger people. By the standards of the suffragettes, Elaine's decision to stand up in parliament and show everyone her merkin seems quite mild.

Ooh, where? I've not seen a penis, flaccid or otherwise, since 2010.

I think at this point it's been established that it has got women absolutely bloody nowhere.

And that the constant 'you can't expect women to be listened to unless they're nice enough/polite enough/womanly enough' while men are lauded for sinking to ever greater depths is just more and more evidence of the rotting stench of sexism this political movement is rooted in.

Because we go high means we are ignored, belittled and shamed. Also I don't think thid is going low, no violence, no damage to property, no intimidation or worse. Men go lower so actually compared to them, we are still on the high road.

Tell me, how has 'when they go low, we go high' gone for us? Because I'm currently living in a country where -

an amendment to pause an application for a GRC for those charged with rape or sexual assault was defeated by the casting vote of the Presiding Officer

And

an amendment which sought to prevent convicted sex offenders being allowed to change their gender was voted down.

There is a vast range between "being kind / nice enough" and this. It's possible to be strong and put your point across without either being kind or resorting to this behaviour.
