@GussetGripper

Do take a bow! (At least, I really think this is you?!)

I fucking love Elaine. We need more women like her if we’re going to win this fight.

UrsulaPandress · 22/12/2022 21:56

The debate was over when she did it.

MooPointCowsOpinion · 22/12/2022 22:02

The whole thing just screams indoctrination and an unhealthy mind to me.
The women around her thought they were in a safe space, that clearly made them feel very unsafe and uncomfortable. If you hurt women in your goal to protect women, you’re not part of any solutions.

UrsulaPandress · 22/12/2022 22:08

Eh?

Nancywhiskey · 22/12/2022 22:08

Brilliant!

RoseslnTheHospital · 22/12/2022 22:09

@MooPointCowsOpinion what on earth are you on about?

eurochick · 22/12/2022 22:10

Hmm. I fully get the anger and am onboard with the speech. I'm not sure the flashing was helpful though - it smacks of stopping to the TRA level of debate.

Thelnebriati · 22/12/2022 22:16

Do people really think that was a natural bush? Blimey Xmas Grin

It’s the square edges that give it away. Other than that it’s not dissimilar to my own

thistimelastweek · 22/12/2022 22:52

She's coming across as a bit deranged. Not the best form of protest.

MingeofDeath · 22/12/2022 22:56

Funnier than the piss protest.

lechiffre55 · 22/12/2022 22:58

At least she didn't play the piano with it.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 22/12/2022 23:05

Good for her. The Scottish government allow women to be raped by men in women’s prisons. That is in the true horror here!

crunchermuncher · 22/12/2022 23:15

lechiffre55 · 22/12/2022 22:58

At least she didn't play the piano with it.

Indeed!

Even when being told there is #nodebate, being talked over and ignored, women are supposed to be 'ladylike 'and are held to a higher standard of behaviour than any man.

Interesting that one of the detractors above mentions her being middle aged.

They just can't help themselves from spewing sexism and ageism , can they? Would it have been ok if she was younger and looking traditionally sexy?

Women: know your place! You must be ladylike, obedient, silent, young and fuckable at all times!

Just piss off!

Blister · 22/12/2022 23:23

Educate yourselves they say! Until you use a historic reference they don't know about. Then they refuse to be educated and ask you to stop doing things others don't understand. On and on it goes.

lechiffre55 · 22/12/2022 23:26

For me it's the hypocrisy.
Some twat without a twat plays the piano with his cock and that's stunning and brave. Bravissimo!!!
A woman stands up for women's rights and her own rights and it's incorrect form of debate even though there was never any real debate in the first place. Hopefully the way she did it gets picked up by the press and helps the issue get wider coverage like the dinosaurs hoarding rights like eggs did.
I hope this turns out to be one more nail in NS's political coffin. She's become incresingly authoritarian and dictatorial over the years. I fear for the people of Scotland if as she chases her Moby Dick. Personally I hope it ends for her just as it ended for Ahab.

morningtoncrescent62 · 22/12/2022 23:30

I want to love this. I saw Elaine perform in Edinburgh and I thought she was great, and I want to love whatever she does. But I have to admit I don't get this. What's the symbolism? What was the message?

LangClegsInSpace · 22/12/2022 23:36

She won't wheesht will she?

Brilliant!

Bosky · 22/12/2022 23:39

morningtoncrescent62 - to get the impact of the message you have to watch the video, or to have been there - there are words and actions, it is not a static, silent tableaux

In a debate about sex and gender, someone flashes their fanny (merkin) and You can't see any significance? Really?

Have we really reached the stage where a 'naked body' is deemed irrelevant to this discussion?

LaughingPriest · 22/12/2022 23:40

Gender critical WomenWontWeesht are upset about the thought of trans women near them

Tell me you haven't understood this without telling me... etc

LangClegsInSpace · 22/12/2022 23:41

SD1978 · 22/12/2022 20:47

I was disappointed by this. I understand the anger, absolutely. But how many times has it been commented on how aggressive it is when trans women get their 'tits' out in order to try and intimidate. I see this as no different. It lessens the argument for me, and I am so, so disappointed in the Scottish government for slavishly allowing this disgusting bill to pass

It lessens the argument for me

How exactly?

How does this protest, of which you obviously do not approve, 'lessen the argument' against the GRR bill?

Is the bill somehow more OK because a woman flashed a merkin?

i agree.

OmiOmy · 22/12/2022 23:52

I wish those women with the banner hadn't got all tangled up.

Also: There's more talent in that merkin than in the penis that plays the piano.

morningtoncrescent62 · 22/12/2022 23:54

crunchermuncher I understand that bodies are relevant to a discussion about sex and gender, but what does flashing a merkin in parliament convey? I'm not trying to be antagonistic. As I said, I love Elaine, and I think the Scottish Parliament has done a terrible thing for women in Scotland, but I just don't understand what the message was.
