How Long Before We Look Back In Amazement

..................over the fact that we had to go through all the transwankery. That we had to fight and fight over such an issue. That some men were allowed to do this to us. That even a lot of women could not see the harm this was causing women and girls.

I mean, surely there will come a time when we can look back and say "I remember that - it was awful - thank goodness people saw through it eventually." How long will it be?

My concern in that scenario is the coercion irrespective of the gender of who’s doing the coercion!

Wiccan · 16/12/2022 17:40

TheShellBeach · 16/12/2022 17:34

Because women's and girls' rights are being eroded, left, right and centre, just to satisfy the desires of a bunch of men.

Spot on !

TheShellBeach · 16/12/2022 17:46

thewayround · 16/12/2022 17:39

Come again? “Coerced” into a relationship with someone?

that is a whole different issue!

Are you being deliberately disingenuous or do you genuinely not understand what is going on?

outside of my family, my children, my work and my health… my external concerns are alcohol dependency and campaigning for more understanding and support (deceased parent due to alcoholism).

I just have the time or inclination!

I'm not goading, just genuinely interested in what made you engage in this thread thewayround?

autienotnaughty · 16/12/2022 17:58

I think it will be the other way tbh. One day women will be held accountable for prejudice toward trans people. I suspect it will be damaging for women's equality.

I mostly agree with your beliefs .

Doesn’t have the time or inclination to consider something that has no known impact on their life whilst at the same time campaigning for more understanding and support for something that in many cases has no impact on other people’s lives. Interesting attitude.

Oh Lord.
I can't understand this attitude at all.
Why shouldn't women object to transwomen, who are trying to take over women's fought-for private spaces?

Women need to be more vocal about this; they should not be apologising to transwomen.

Christ I hope not . I refuse to be classed as prejudiced when it comes to a man pretending to be a women .

So maybe 20 years plus! How depressing.

Because the Op asked a question. And I responded upthread with my response to her specific question.

it then snowballed from there!

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/12/2022 18:05

I remember that - it was awful - thank goodness people saw through it eventually.

I feel like that about everything this Tory government have done to the UK. Everything they've done to women. Their Self ID transfuckery is a part of their wider misogyny and incompetence.

And we still have 2 more fucking years to go.Xmas Angry

100% this!

Men cannot become women just because they decide to announce they've changed sex.

oh dear. You really are tunnel vision about this issue and nothing else if you think alcoholism in “many cases” has no impact

I kind of hope that the Sunak government will fuck up enough that an election is triggered.

Mind you - who would be in power instead? They're all in favour of trans ideology.

There are fewer alcoholics than women FFS.

We’re reversing things now but the next government could go in the other direction and it gets much worse

We get older and younger buy it more

And that’s it

That’s the very depressing version

The better one is Labour don’t reverse all that has been achieved

hangonsnoopy · 16/12/2022 18:12

I hope that interest in trans is replaced by new trends among young people.

Dissociative identity disorder seems much less harmful. That group is tightening up gatekeeping to keep out abusers and is dropping the term 'little.'

Also people pretending to have some kind of spirit animal, be part wolf etc seems less harmful.

Both these trends are up and coming. I am not saying they are good, just less bad.

Bard6817 · 16/12/2022 18:13

Alas like always it will take either court cases or some awfull incidents, to realise that some a-hole of a man or men, abuse and kill some real women whilst he/they is identifying as a woman in a single sex safe space, for the fetish to be exposed for what it actually is, coupled with enough girls who went thru their trans phase, saw thru the bulls**t and either sue/prosecute the docs and other workers for the child abuse it is.

If we keep highlighting it as gobshite, they can’t claim ignorance when chickens come home to roost on those responsible.

It's already happening but it's played down or minimised!

I don’t think you need to change your focus, we can all care about different things imo

If you have your primary issue and some of us care about this that’s fine

picklemewalnuts · 16/12/2022 18:26

We can be worried about both issues. Both impact everyone. Both are serious.

It's ok to recognise both as major problems but put your energies into the one you know most about/have most opportunity to be impactful/are most immediately affected by.

There's no need to fall out over this.

Lol nice misinterpretation of my post. Obviously alcoholism affects those who are directly impacted by it. But many people have no experience of alcoholism in the same way that you are not impacted directly by trans activism. When you campaign for support in relation to alcoholism, presumably you are trying to reach those who are not directly impacted and rely on a person’s empathy and understanding. Same applies here. It’s fine if you just don’t give a shit but if that’s the case it is weird that you take the time to post here.

Depends what you mean by less harmful? It's all shits & giggles until they start demanding to be taken for a walk & eat their food from a dog bowl 🤔
