How Long Before We Look Back In Amazement

..................over the fact that we had to go through all the transwankery. That we had to fight and fight over such an issue. That some men were allowed to do this to us. That even a lot of women could not see the harm this was causing women and girls.

I mean, surely there will come a time when we can look back and say "I remember that - it was awful - thank goodness people saw through it eventually." How long will it be?

Then again a Labour gov might make it depressing again

Yes. There are no Parties which I can support at the moment.

I suspect that as the current generation of 20-somethings grow up, there will be a shift away from pronoun/identity politics. It’s harder to maintain outside of a university environment, if you’re working and in a more professional setting. Furthermore, I imagine that as it becomes an established identity held by 30 and 40 somethings, it will be less appealing to teens, and that aspect will fizzle somewhat.

UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody · 16/12/2022 14:10

My employer just digs in deeper too, promoting Mermaids as “our friends”…ODFOD… and links to Stonewall and re-education programmes where open discussion is invited in a safe space that is anything but.

I’m in a dystopian nightmare with no-one I can talk to about it as they’re all taken in.

UnderHisEyeOverMyDeadBody · 16/12/2022 14:14

@MotherWol cross posted with you, my professional environment is well and truly latched to gender ideology and we are nothing to do with an educational environment.

A day doesn’t go by when we’re reminded about pronouns and inclusivity and how you can’t have the LGB without the T by the white male patriarchs pushing the agenda down our throats.

Probablymagrat · 16/12/2022 14:14

The end cannot come soon enough. But sadly I think it will be a while before it has run its course. Hopefully a few years, but I think probably decades.

Stuffthisstuff · 16/12/2022 14:17

I don't think we will. It's too far gone.

One of the biggest wins has been TWAW - from what I've found, people who don't know about all of this complete agree, in chatting and when asked in surveys etc. That's because they think it means biological women who identify as trans are still women - so, they're agreeing with GC but it's actually coming out as the opposite if that makes any sense. I think I've mangled what I'm trying to say there!

I see no hope with this but am still enormously grateful to the women who are fighting.

Yes, early teen. Independent girls school. Seriously, they know those that have declared their to be called Jane rather than Jeremy on the school bus… but it’s not something that is on their agenda.

It’s very prevalent In the state school system as I suspect the poor schools are expected to cover it in a very liberal politically correct manner. Thankfully not my my children’s schools

Right. So your daughters don’t play sport? And don’t go to something like guides? And won’t be going anywhere on a school overnight trip where a male could be accommodated with them? Ie. Not just your school but other activities with other schools and groups?

Plus your daughters doesn’t go out and use public toilets? Or public changing rooms? Won’t need single sex spaces?

Your daughter won’t ever miss out on an opportunity due to a male getting it instead?

nauticant · 16/12/2022 14:18

What I find interesting is that this shows that some scandals don't go on unchecked because they're hidden. They can be happening clear as day but they're just not perceived as such (by many). In cases like this, scandals can be "uncovered" by a small event that no one would have assumed would have the power to make everyone leap up in alarm.

Also, that the entire world can be overtaken by overlapping related bizarre beliefs without it being a vast conspiracy. Just lots of people with very different motivations seeing that there are cracks in safeguarding/oppotunities to grab power who go for it and push it as far as it will go.

And none of your children are same sex attracted and may be coerced into accepting an opposite sex partner?

My favourite bit was that it's a problem mainly in state schools.

TheShellBeach · 16/12/2022 14:21

@thewayround What do you mean by "poor schools"?

It just doesn’t feature on our radar other than in an abstract hear about it on SM way

Well that's a good thing... and once upon a time I could have said the same. So that's just how it is for you and your teens until suddenly quite out of the blue your kid comes home and it isn't like that any more. Think of it as a game of Russian roulette with maybe 100 chambers and the chamber spins and there's no bullet in the chamber.... until there is. And when your child gets hit everyone else will still be saying "see, it just doesn't feature on our radar".

they know those that have declared their to be called Jane rather than Jeremy on the school bus…

So not just social media then, not even at your kids' busy-busy private school.

Yes. I noticed…

rogdmum · 16/12/2022 14:26

I don’t think having your children at an independent school is any sort of buffer. Some of the most extreme experiences I know of happened in the independent sector. I have a theory about that but won’t derail any further. 😁

I do think that this shall pass eventually but agree with previous posters who don’t think we’ll ever end up back where we were. Being in Scotland it’s exhausting but I keep reminding myself where we were a few years ago and there has been progress in England which I hope will eventually filter through up here.

ResisterRex · 16/12/2022 14:30

Sorry but it's in all schools. And independent ones have more freedom and could say no more robustly. If they wanted to.

There have also been well known and wholly unsuitable public figures who've not addressed past comments on paedophilia, invited into private schools. Under the guise of inclusivity.

talkingdeadscot · 16/12/2022 14:49

What I think is really important to see and remember is how quickly so many people, young and old, have been persuaded into the 'belief' that sex is not real. That if you change the name of something then that something doesn't exist any more. That has serious ramifications for society.

Too many University courses have gender ideology as part of their studies so it's ingrained into every level of the bureaucracy needed to run the country and public services. These workers are seeped in this stuff because they don't know any other way to think. They then disperse it without thinking. If they don't, then as we've seen there are plenty of outside trainers ready and waiting to retrain your thinking both in work and out of work. It's insidious and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

My kids Catholic school is having none of it. We played the pay or pray card but now we're grateful that they seem to be a barrier against fashionable trends.

That's exactly it. "Fashionable" is the right word.

It started as a kind of trend and ended up decimating women's rights, left, right and centre.

Abccde · 16/12/2022 15:38

It's made me realise that there is a lot of men who have so much resentment and hatred towards woman.

These people have been given a voice, they have become popular and cool online, they are no longer the social outcasts, they are the leaders. They are seriously mentally disturbed individuals and they have power, so much power.

I am not just talking about men who decide to identify as woman - actually they are only part of the problem as they are very visible (even if they don't think they are).

It's those men who sit and wank in their flats (or most likely their bedrooms whilst mammy is downstairs making their tea). They are not going anywhere.

Even if its not Trans Ideology it will be something esle. These sad pathetic people hate us. They despise every single female. They have got so much power over the last few years thanks to the rise of anonymous social media.

It is terrifying .

GloomyDarkness · 16/12/2022 15:45

Depends how entrenched it becomes - I don't think it's looking great here in Wales but it's not an every day concern but it's an issue we are all aware of.

It is in DH workplace and DC educational institutes and it crops up - DH always get a look of panic on his face when it crops up at home often via media I think due to his academia experiences- but I ask awkward questions and suggest things aren't clear cut - but I'm still careful what I say and my teens aren't advocates and tend to lean towards some skepticism but also it's their friends/groups being kind is a thing and they haven't the live experiences to see the pitfalls.

I suspect US left wing media will have to change it's stance - a lot of the stuff flows from there - their soft power has quiet a reach.

I hope so however, realistically I think if it does happen it will be decades from now.

Every time something comes out that I think could bring the whole charade to an end and open the eyes of the public, absolutely nothing comes of it.

I was going to reply that I didn't think it will happen in my lifetime (I'm 60) but this thread gives me hope:
