If Sturgeon is so sure that the majority of women would back these gender reforms then she should put her money where her mouth is and call a referendum on it,
It affects 50% of the population after all, and what she does will affect every single woman and girl.

If this were put to a public vote, the real feelings of the general population would be heard and not just the hand maidens and brainwashed teenagers.

The people who are protesting against Scotland's GRC bill are in the minority I'm afraid. That's the fact.

Based on what do you claim that? The only statistics I have seen, state the opposite.

And what does the government do about the women that do protest? Don't they count?

Why can't both mixed as well as single sex facilities be safeguarded?

Why was the amendment to make clear the single sex exemptions are not overruled by this new GRA rejected? It could have cleared up all confusion and ensured women the government was not allowing anyone to take away their sex based rights?

Why was the amendment that convicted sex offenders should be barred from changing their legal gender rejected? Why would any government allow a convicted sex offender unlimited access to womens facilities and services?

Any answers, Marg?

This thread has reminded me to put my order in for a ministry of tartan suffragette scarf.

Stellar woman and shame on the handmaidens.

Just googled and that is a beautiful scarf.

You and MSP'S can keep parroting the same phrase. Doesn't make it true. I'm actually embarrassed for you.

Are you in Scotland, Marg?

Given Margey's previous comments about Scottish women, Margey's disdain of Scottish language and culture and Margey's lack of understanding or knowledge of Scottish law or Parliamentary processes, I'm assuming not.

''The people who are protesting against Scotland's GRC bill are in the minority I'm afraid. That's the fact.''

Are you saying being in a minority mean you don't get to have any rights?

But aren’t transpeople referred to as ‘a vulnerable minority’? So by @MargaritaPie logicey should not get a say in anything either.

ha ha ha ha! ha ha ha ha! ha ha ha ha! ha ha ha ha! ha ha ha ha! ha ha ha ha!

You either don't understand how politics works and how bills are voted through or you are still taking your information from social media influencers who have appointed themselves as thought leaders and feed you provably false information.

By the way, while you are here you have avoided answering my questions about your dismissal of violent acts against women . Maybe you have not seen them @MargaritaPie

Is it just callous hatred and misogyny that drives you to dismiss violent acts?

Or is it just plain old ignorance?

I mean, I am happy if you suggest it is something other. If so, what is it?

@MargaritaPie You could also look at the problems(or lack of problems) Ireland, or Switzerland, or New Zealand who have self-ID for years have had.

You really don't know anything about the places you pluck out of think air. Paddy O'Gorman is now doing podcasts which are casting more light on the situation for the women affected by the inclusion of males in Irelands already overcrowded women's prisons. He always gives a voice to people who don't usually get coverage by the MSM, or the innumerable, publicly subsidised NGOs who follow the fashionable causes of the good and the great. Males have been placed in women's prison spaces and those women have been exposed to extra punishment compared to the males in the men's section.

Firstly, women's prisons in Ireland are overcrowded relative to the men's prison, and throwing males in on top of them adds to that. Seemingly, to boot, the women only get half the exercise/ leisure time as they would usually get. They lock the women back in so that the males placed amongst them can then get their exercise time. The males allegedly shout foul things at the women and are not admonished. Whereas if a woman simply uttered the truth and said that is a male, they'd be punished (like being locked back in or something). At the moment, even the few males currently there impinges on, and results on a deterioration in the conditions experienced by the women. Imagine when more males realise they can be cock of the walk in such a way. Some of those women have already suffered at the hands of males (I think Magdalen survivors were mentioned). Of course this new belief system is dressed in brand new 'progressive' clothes. Same old, same old for Mná na hÉireann.

Paddy has given voice to the women locked up in those conditions. We'll hear more in his podcasts from the women affected by the inclusion of males in Limerick Women's Prison. Always been good on the human element, has Paddy. He hasn't disappointed on knowing where human rights abuses lie.

paddyspodcast.ie/episodes-3/ (There is another episode which does Limerick Prison. This is just to link to the podcasts)

Yes, correct. Not many people, as a proportion of the populace, are actively joining protests at the Scottish parliament. Most people just don't join in demonstrations like that even if they feel strongy, for many varied reasons.

However if we ask how many people support the Scotgov's reform of the GRA, then that is a minority. The majority of people do not think that males should be able to self ID, as several studies have shown.

I mean, I don't personally think the number of people protesting/supporting actually matters; issues of rights and morals should stand on their own fairness, whether or not they're popular. So even if it was the other way round, I'd still support according to moral rightness, not 'popularity'.

She wasn’t on her own, we were outside the building with a banner but Sturgeon had been ushered in via a fire door. We were told that “ obviously you are going to be unable to be quiet & listen so I’m afraid, I can’t allow you to go in to the meeting”. But our wee ⭐️got in and let Sturgeon have it between the eyes from all of us.

ArabellaScott · 01/12/2022 14:07

Rhiannon, please pass on my very best to that wonderful woman. I can't say how much I admire her.

Apologies I haven't read every post so this might have been covered.

The video shared by JK Rowling cuts short. The original video shows the audience applauding as our friend is escorted out the room. Nicola then goes on to imply support several times for transwomen which receives applause.

It seems clear the group of women there support trans-rights and the interruption didn't succeed in changing anyone's mind.

As for "silencing debate", the GRC thing has had 3 (I believe) consultations and been debated to death for years. There are other items on the agenda.

Our wee star wasn’t on her own that day, we were there and she has an army of women beside her , we will not wheesht now and we will make sure Sturgeon is telt at every possible occasion that women will be heard.

Cailleach1 · 01/12/2022 14:10

They can try and pretend they are not clamping down on or censoring free speech when the room is already controlled. The irony level was just so bonkers when someone said they were trying to make it a space for all women. I think they meant males. They certainly weren't including the brave Alexandra.

Rhannion huge gratitude from me too

Whereareyourshoes · 01/12/2022 14:51

Another one who is cheering every time I see it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I can, to some extent, understand those in the room who stayed silent, not so much the ones who cheered, but I hope it’s given them all a moment to reflect on. Particularly cream jumper person (I’d best not assume their gender identity given their body language screaming irritation at a woman standing up for other women.)
