These women are so astoundingly self-centred. It doesn't matter how many times you or I have been raped or sexually assaulted. I listened to the response by NS. She said "women" - meaning transwomen - should not be further stigmatised by the fact that self-ID will mean that some men will "change gender" to commit violence against women.

By completely dropping the T now she is framing male violence as a woman problem.

I couldn't quite believe what I was hearing so I did my best to transcribe - it's not prefect but the headlines are there:

Thanks for the transcript, VaggieMight I wouldn't have ever imagined that's the argument NS would be making in response, but I can't say I'm surprised. Everything else she has said on the issue was straight out of trans rights campaigners' talking points after all.

This may, if I'm feeling charitable, explain her abysmal stance on the issue - she does not seem to understand that safeguarding requires doing exactly what she says we shouldn't do: treat a whole group as a potential risk to prevent harm and to keep vulnerable people safe.

(Such as zero alcohol driving laws - which treats every single person as a potentially unsafe and irresponsible driver - or having to have your criminal records check before being allowed to work in school - which treats every adult as a potentially unsafe person around children.)
