GLAMOUR and UOMA Beauty's Beauty Game-Changer of the year apparently.

Guess they couldn’t find any actual women deserving of the accolade… wonder how hard they looked?

Vladimir, sorry you never said that but I honestly can't understand how you admire someone who buys into the stereotypical white women beauty myth.

You wouldn't extoll Michael Jackson as an image for black male beauty. Not saying he wasn't a great singer songwriter. Munroe shouldn't be held up as an example of a beautiful mixed race woman.

The sad thing is that MB will never really know what it's like. All the plastic surgery and posturing, all the dresses and accolades. All the getting away with saying outrageous things about women.
MB will never know.

Ah, 'Glamour' - I'm indebted to Terry Pratchett's elves for reminding me what the word means.

Transwomen aren't women but for sure some have glamour.

Clearly both L'Oreal and the UK Labour Party did find these words bigoted though, since they resulted in the person saying them being dropped or having to step down:

white people’s "entire existence is drenched in racism".

Or at the very least, neither wanted to be publicly associated with the person.

Very interesting that none of the MB defenders care to engage on the child safeguarding failures. Children matter way less than defending this particular person to the hilt.

Helleofabore · 13/11/2022 07:36

But gorgeous! Right?

WandaWomblesaurus · 13/11/2022 13:54

There's nothing game changing about extreme plastic surgery, wigs, so much makeup your face is caked and swishing about in designer gowns.

OK so 'Gamechanger' MB is about to talk at The United Nations HQ in New York as a spokesperson for UN Women. They've chosen MB to talk at their conference, 'Un-Stereotype Alliance' on #RaisingtheBar to 'forge an unstereotyped world and create equality for all'.

How exactly does Munroe challenge all the stereotypes of what a woman should be (beyond the obvious)?! Regular Lipfillers, cosmetically enhanced breasts, facial fillers, bottom and hip implants, Botox - glossy magazine/social media photographs in designer frocks, diamonds, lingerie, latex, nipple pasties, high heels, posing on yachts in bikinis while sipping champagne etc ...

Really, really challenging stereotypes there. How, exactly?

Can't wait to hear what MB has to say. I bet we will hear the words 'intersectionality', "nuance', 'empowerment', body 'positivity', 'autonomy', and, if they get a chance, 'protect trans kids'.

UN-women indeed.

Because fulfilling the very stereotypes that females have worked hard to detach from being female is so empowering for males, isn't it?

That to do it they have to have such extreme surgery that their face is literally, not figuratively, peeled off their skull. Then bones shaved down and implants and fillers too complete the look. And that is just the face.

We didn't need any more evidence that UN Women was trolling females, but they delivered by the truck load so no one could ignore it.

Farmageddon · 17/11/2022 14:53

The UN is a joke at this stage....this is nothing more than a validation exercise for MB.
If this person was going to do a talk about challenging stereotypes for men, and expanding what it means to be a man, I would applaud them. But this is a farce.

Munroe said that 'centering reproductive systems in a Women's March is reductive and exclusionary'. What's to like about that?

Munroe is also one for appropriating the terrible experiences of South American sex workers to push their own agenda. They tweeted that 'as a trans woman of colour my like expectancy is 30'. Which is disingenous bullshit.

But of course it wouldn't be a 'Women's Awards' ceremony if a male wasn't winning at least one award.

Don't forget the homophobia and encouraging kids to message Monroe privately.

Helleofabore · 17/11/2022 15:04

Yeah. But gorgeous, right?

SkinOfTeeth · 17/11/2022 15:26

As this is a conference focussing on how brands and the advertising industries can challenge stereotypes, I'm guessing MB will focus more generally on trans (trans women mainly) representation, 'queerness' and anti-racism. But mainly it will be all about the trans. The conference has just started and it's all about "Women and girls' so far. No mention of 'and all those who identify as ...' yet.

And MB's book has materialised! Announced yesterday and out next February. Can't wait. Am sure photos of MB at UN HQ will feature heavily. How on earth have they manoeuvred themselves into this position? 8 years ago they were hostessing/DJ-ing and appearing in a reality show called 'Drag Queens of London'.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 17/11/2022 18:41

i imagine part of the reason MB manages to elbow their way in everywhere is because I imagine they have the hide of a rhinoceros and won’t take no for an answer

ApocalipstickNow · 17/11/2022 18:42

If anyone wants a nearly 50 year old to challenge stereotypes by sipping bubbly on a yacht I’m prepared to take one for the team.

True, they are also part of the 'right' identity group, which is being promoted above everything else these days.
I guess it takes balls of steel (ahem) to manoeuvre their way into to most prominent situations, all while taking that place away from a woman. Very frustrating.
