Oh ffs where to start - as a gay person living in 2022, I'm watching the TQ+ part of the letter string remove my rights at high speed, so no, as a gay person I'm not celebrating and I have very very little pride left at all because of the utter mess being created

compared to how life was for LGBT people in the not-too-distant past.

Marge's posts certainly aren't gotchas.

Imagine the hoo ha if shops put Adult human female flags or suffragette colours in their windows when there was a trans conference nearby.

The windows would have been panned in and those doing the smashing would call the police to complain about ‘sharp items’ hidden behind transphobic messages.

And the LGBA conference pic (the real one) showed people from a mixture of ages and ethnicities and both sexes looking happy to be together. Not quite sure what we're meant to be horrified by, perhaps you could supply a hint?

I'm sure I remember a massive hysterical breakdown over "safe spaces" when some pebbles painted in suffragette colours, and pro women's rights stickers were left near the route of a Pride rally/march.

If great big suffragette flags had been hanging from every other shop, they'd have expired on the spot!

I really hope people watch videos of the speeches at the conference and see how inappropriate, false and hateful, tweets like this are.

I'm at a loss as to what exactly these false news/political manipulating pictures were supposed to do in damning meetings about women's access and equality?

Is it that lack of people with blue hair and black balaclavas? (Hint: this isn't really typical social behaviour...)

Or are we supposed to notice that they're old and this is supposed to be some kind of negative 'look at the evil' kind of thing? If so, what's the cut off point in age at which point it's fondly imagined that humans switch from 'pure of heart and meaningful to society' to 'subhuman'? 35? 20?

Do those spouting this absolute rubbish really not see how awful it is?

I mean at this point, if you're busy babbling away about 'right side of history' and 'just a lovely flag' and 'just supporting LGBT+ people' (clue, you're not; I'm L, don't you blame me for all this shit and do it in my name)

you need to face that you are supporting a politics that has caused:

• raped women in prisons
• denial of health care to a seriously ill woman with major possible consequences to her
• safeguarding disasters to the point police investigation is seriously being considered, including involvement of those who identify as paedophiles in services for children and actively attempting to change boundaries in a way that would make offenses against children easier and safeguarding children harder

That's just the tip of the ice berg. Are you really, seriously at this point saying that you support this? Because what you are actually supporting in that case is male supremacism/male sexual rights over females and children. Covering your eyes and singing la la la can't hear you at this point makes you culpable .

If you support the above, own it.

If you don't support the above, ffs turn your bloody brain on for a minute and start thinking.

Great, you’re all for the following;

1. forcing women to strip naked next to biological men
2. shutting down women who voice very real concerns about dignity and safety with threats of violence inc death and rape
3. stereotyping what it means to be a woman (usually limited to sexual fetishes)
4. The dehumanisation of women through language
5. altering statistics affecting womens health care and equality
6. intimidating women in real life and on line
7. forcing vulnerable women to include men in prisons, hospital wards (read up about the poor lady who had to fight for a year for someone to agree she was raped after being told she was wrong for a year because a trans person wasn’t a man and therefore she couldn’t have been raped. Womens refuges where women and children are escaping violent men.

By supporting TRAs you are agreeing to all the above (and much more damaging things)

To be honest, Joules choosing to display a flag strongly connected to misogyny and gynophobia in order to ensure women attending a feminist conference nearby know that they are neither welcome or safe in the shop is not the marketing strategy I expected. Still, we live and learn.
