I've just seen this on twitter.

Seeing as though mumsnet are their target market, this is very foolish of them.

At least there was no "suck my dick you transphobic cunt" placards this year, well done Team TRA, you were restrained.

Who mentioned being cancelled on this thread? Women gathering for a feminist conference are righty complaining about being trolled by retailers
Putting a trans flag in a shop window in support of trans rights isn't trolling for goodness sake.
Not everything is always about you.

For goodness' sake, this thread has only five pages. Surely you can manage to read more than alternate pages?

As I already posted.

An attendee at FiLiA this weekend has been been asking stores with trans flags to put their side of things. Here's what they told her.

twitter thread

An obvious proliferation of trans pride flags in shops and bars around the #FiLiA2022 venue. Absolutely fine, businesses are welcome to support whichever cause they choose. However, when asked why they’d just done it…. 1/3

Staff said that @queeremporiu asked them to display them to show solidarity with a big LGBT conference taking place in Cardiff this weekend. Except there isn’t one. So, why lie? 2/3

IDK, maybe “we’re trying to piss off a group of women in Cardiff to talk about their rights” doesn’t sound quite so noble. Either way, if you need to lie to people to get them to support your cause, maybe the issue is your cause, not your tactics.

Well done Jean!

Sounds like the person visiting shops in the city centre to hand out flags to hang up may have altered his/her pitch from shop to shop. It's so clearly a response to FiLiA's presence.

VestofAbsurdity · 23/10/2022 19:05

@MargaritaPie your first photo has set a very high bar for spectacular own goals, and here you are trying to outdo that with another photo.

@MargaritaPie perhaps you could share with us why you thought that first photo you posted was a genuine photo of the LGBA conference? What was it in the photo that made you believe that?

A FiLIA conference is ALL about women.

Why would TRAs chose that particular weekend to use shops to fly their flag? Wouldn't be to try and make it all about them, would it? Hypocrisy much.

Springtimeshowers · 23/10/2022 19:14

im surprised such a boring shop would do this

Not everything is always about you.

I remember the same argument being made when a billboard was put up in Liverpool saying 'Woman: Adult human female.'

But no, that couldn't be allowed to stand. Had to be taken down, because the male-bodied women didn't like it.

Of course we know not everything is always about women. Even the definition of women, it seems.

Can you please explain then why someone was asking shops to display the trans flag then?

Good luck with getting an explanation @PriamFarrl

This weekend I saw flags in the windows of many cafes and small businesses in the arcades close to the venue on Saturday. The big stores included: Vans, All Saints, Joules, Fred Perry. I haven’t seen these shops display flags until this weekend.

I saw the guy from the Queer Emporium walk past that area a few times yesterday (which is to be expected as he works in Cardiff), but put two and two together and guessed that the flags had come from there. They have form for complaining about other businesses.

I wonder what was said to the staff in the stores who said no?

Here's the extraordinarily brave Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe being interviewed yesterday. She rightly got a standing ovation.

It sounds a wonderful weekend BingBongSong.

Here is yesterday's migration and motherhood panel, featuring a migrant domestic worker, Southall Black Sisters, a survivor of domestic abuse, a film maker who is telling the stories of women refugees and their children, women telling the true picture of the commercial, international surrogacy business.

This is what these activists don't want us to be able to talk about. And these idiot shop workers in their unthinking compliance.

I attended two excellent sessions entitled "Misogyny: Why won't it Die?" and "Defending Women's Sport" today. Might as well advertise next years, I'm fed up of these misogynists trying to intimidate us.

How amazing to hear that some shops when hearing they have been lied to took the flags down.

I really am finding it outstanding that we have posters on this thread a) putting up pics they have not checked (ie. If they were posted by anyone saying that was the LGB Alliance conference, doesn’t that give you pause??? Why the lie?) b) supporting a person lying to other businesses to get a trans flag up in the window, c) despite being told on other threads still have posters using dehumanising language against feminists.

It doesn’t surprise me, but those posters cannot understand that if they cannot see the dishonesty in these instances, what else are they missing. They don’t seem to be able to recognise dishonesty when it is right there in front of them.

But they are on the right side of history apparently….

I'm not a TRA just because I have an alternate view 🙄
And I am a woman too - you are actually aware we don't all think the same, right?!

Someone holding trans extremist views? anti women views? defending the indefensible? that better?

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 23/10/2022 21:46

Extremist for saying I don't see a problem with a shop having a trans flag in the window .🙄
Ok then 🙄

That just so happened to be put up when there was a Feminist Conference in the City, how very convenient.

What has a trans flag got to do with a Feminist Conference? Why the need to put it up and tell shopkeepers there was an anti-trans meeting going on? Let's hear your defence of that?

You say it's not all about women and yet TRAs sure as hell want to make everything all about them.

"Women gathering for a feminist conference are righty complaining about being trolled by retailers, who have no business getting involved in this kind of political messaging."

Are you referring to the recent LGBA meeting? It seems to be equally split amongst men and women, there are photos circulating on Social Media such as this one.

And how can you possibly accuse retailers of accusing gender critical people/LGB-Alliance members of "being trolled" just by putting up an LGBT/trans flag?

I'd much rather live in 2022 where gay and trans people can have rights and marry etc and see flags supporting LGBT people having rights compared to how life was for LGBT people in the not-too-distant past.

Errr…. Umm…… I’m actually cringing for you bless you @marg

You say you’re a woman? How do you know? Apparently no one can define woman so how do you know you are one. You may be a chicken for all you know.
