Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

I'm not a woman - which facilities should I use

Genuinely interested to hear what supporters of gender ideology would recommend here. I am biologically female but do not identify as a woman. I am officially trans though in reality I don't think I am the sort of person Stonewall meant to refer to in their definition of trans (I am gender critical - which for those who have been misled by some made-up definitions, to me means that sometimes sex, rather than gender, matters. It is not an anti-trans stance).

The question is - which facilities should I use? I should not be in the ladies if that is defined by identity but using the men's does not feel right either. How do gender ideologists suggest I negotiate this?

Not at all. Im not confortable with the mens because I don't identify as a man. I am non binary also according to stonewall definition. I've borne two children so am legitimately biologically female. However I'd feel mis gendered if anyone assumed that because I go to the ladies I identify as a woman. I am not messing here. I genuinely now feel uncomfortable wherever I go.

If your need to use a toilet in a public place is sufficiently urgent, presumably you do like the rest of humanity and just go in the one you feel most comfortable/ least uncomfortable, even if neither option is ideal. If you are not so desperate for a pee/ poo/ to change a sanitary item that you can tie yourself in existential knots then you can clearly take the time to find a cafe with only the one toilet that is for anyone or take yourself home to use your own.

ArabellaScott · 11/10/2022 08:37

I believe the genderist line is 'use the one you're most comfortable using' .

As ever, non binaries are largely ignored. If you actually break down the boundaries successfully it's presumably just not as much fun? Because what do you do once you've queered it all?

On a.practical level: can you pee unto a urinal, do you have need of sanitary disposal and handwashing, are you of the sex that paraphilias cluster in?

arethereanyleftatall · 11/10/2022 08:39

Oh fgs. Use the ladies and stop attention seeking.

Navel gazing? Much?

you’re a woman, so use the womens. No one cares about what gender you think you are or what gender you think you aren’t.

Sorry but I agree with this.

Agender 🙄

Youre a biological woman. You’ve born children. You use the female toilets because that is what you are

Ah ok. That's good Rufus. Im not fully brain awake yet, so it's confusing. Hopefully OP will come back o clarify

That's also my reading. Trouble is she's preaching to the choir obviously - I doubt those she's addressing will bite on this site.

Live4weekend · 11/10/2022 08:42

Pandering to all this shit does really not help women.

I am guessing many of us feel uncomfortable using public toilets. It's nothing to do with gender!

DameMaud · 11/10/2022 08:43

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 11/10/2022 08:32

It’ll be an interesting read….just not the read it’s supposed to be 😀

Already is Rufus !😄

Mollie5 · 11/10/2022 08:44

I don't think people even have time to stop in a public toilet and think "oh I wonder how this person identifies". A public toilet is a quick thing for most, in and out and go about your day. It's really isn't a big deal lol

Yup. I think you're right grumpy...

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2022 08:46

Obviously the OP should use the women's ie female loos, but I'm mildly curious about her question as to what the genderists think 'nonbinary' or agender people should do.
A lot seem to say 'use whichever you're comfortable with' (regardless of the comfort of others) but that doesn't help someone who has wrongly been made to feel loos are divided by 'gender' rather than sex who is therefore uncomfortable in either. Some seem to want everywhere (or at least the womens) facilities to just be 'gender neutral' ie mixed sex ... again ignoring the fact that doesn't suit many. Few seem to advocate for neutral 'third spaces' although that would seem to cater reasonably well for everyone except those who want to colonise the opposite sex facilities for validation (or worse...).

If that's an inaccurate assessment perhaps someone

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/10/2022 08:46

Coming soon, toilets divided by star sign.

You heard it here first.

Saisong · 11/10/2022 08:48

I think lots of people are misreading the OP. It is kind of like a thought experiment, almost all of us could be her. And the people she is addressing and seeking answers from are the opposite of Gender Critical. She wants to hear the arguments from the opposite Gender Ideology side of how this can be sorted out so everyone gets appropriate provision.

The issue is (besides the fact this isn't their natural home), is that they don't have the answers - and they see that as a feature, not a bug.

Louise1191 · 11/10/2022 08:49

As you're non-binary, I think you should use the toilets based on your biological sex.
There's not really a need to consider using the men's toilets because you don't identify as male and you're not biologically male

silverclock222 · 11/10/2022 08:49

Seriously we should change the door symbols to a penis and a vagina and that should help everyone. You are biologically female so you use the female toilets. Only females can give birth and as you have - twice - that's the toilets you use. I have in 50 years never felt the need to question what toilet I use and can't particularly say I've ever had to declare my gender to anyone but as I have a vagina it's not rocket science to use the door with the female symbol on it surely.?

FaazoHuyzeoSix · 11/10/2022 08:52

I've got no gender either and am female. I have no problem using the women's loos because loos should be split by sex not gender. There is no need to have different kinds of loos according to what gender one has, there is a need for a split by sex.

Anyone of the female sex ought to be welcome in the women's loos - but there are trans men who are genetically female but have used hormones, steroids and body building up give them a very convincing-at-first-glance masculine appearance and there might be more of a grey area there. Sounds like you aren't in tgat category though OP. Have you ever been made to feel unwelcome in the women's loos by other women questioning your rights to be there?

I'm sorry that you feel uncomfortable in the women's but I feel that stems from accepting the narrative that where facilities are split for men and women, then it's gender that is meant. Reject that narrative, it's bollocks.

arethereanyleftatall · 11/10/2022 08:55

There is generally quite a lot of misery in the developed world at the moment. Is it because of shit like this? Have we become so ridiculously spoilt and entitled - to the extent that demanding a special toilet for a handful of people has become a perfectly valid request - that we've totally lost sight of the things to be grateful for.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 11/10/2022 08:56

Oh I see what you're trying to do OP
it doesn't quite work though

bigblueyonder · 11/10/2022 08:57

*Coming soon, toilets divided by star sign.

You heard it here first.*

😂😂😂. Seriously some of us do sit in the cusp of changeover so I could be one of two signs depending on the dates listed (star mongrel I suppose).

But I am also pragmatic by nature so would choose the loo with the shortest queue or dates could be provided to clarify🤔

kittensinthekitchen · 11/10/2022 08:58

However I'd feel mis gendered if anyone assumed that because I go to the ladies I identify as a woman

Nobody really cares how you identify. You have female genitalia, use the female toilets.

bigblueyonder · 11/10/2022 09:01

I'm agender not trans male

Note what you intend to piss out of then and follow the appropriate sign.

arethereanyleftatall · 11/10/2022 09:05

Good point @bigblueyonder
So there will really need to be 24 loos to accommodate star signs multiplied by however many genders there are now.

Jackienory · 11/10/2022 09:07

WahineToa · 11/10/2022 07:59

You’re female so currently you use female bathrooms but I would support a third space personally.

Woke Bog 🫢

ReeseWitherfork · 11/10/2022 09:11

I think DH would request the mens loos be split in two actually: men who behave like filthy animals, and men who have manners and some sense of hygiene. And then we probably need another set for those just intending to do coke.

So we’ve got: female, nice male, nasty male, gender neutral, cocaine loos… and then those all split again by star sign? So 60 sets? Works for me.

elephantseal · 11/10/2022 09:19

TimeAtTheBar · 11/10/2022 07:55

If you’re biologically female (which is the only way to be female, and means you are a woman, because human beings can’t change sex) then you use the ladies loos.

It’s really not complicated.

This. It's not difficult.

Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 11/10/2022 09:19

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 11/10/2022 08:27

Thats how i read it maud i said it upthread

so youre not alone in thinking it 😀

This is how I meant it though as well as a thought experiment I do not ever want people to feel justified in assuming that I align myself with sexist stereotypes just because of the facilities I use.

Sorry for the I am trans confusion but according to stonewall anyone who does not have a gender identity is trans
