What several people have brought up in response to your post though is why are we the ones to come up with solutions? We haven't changed the parameters, Eddie and his ilk have. So it's up to them to come up with solutions that don't infringe on our right to single sex spaces.

If Eddie felt unsafe using the male toilets that evening then my solution would have been for the good men of Sheffield Labour - I am sure there are many - to stand guard while Eddie used them. What a missed opportunity both for Eddie to show sensitivity to females and for the Labour Party to send a clear message that violence towards gender non conforming men will not be tolerated.

I've always thought the 'third space' solution was the best but having read the posts on here I'm beginning to think having mixed and women's only is by far the best. This is why having a debate is so vital.
On the subject of Izzard, I went right off him when he complained about the 13 year old girls challenging him about using the women's toilets. Of course we must put his feelings above scared teenager girls, what a prat! I so hope the local Labour party don't make him their candidate.

Well the extra toilet thing if I read your post correctly, theres only two sexes, so only two needed. I brought it up as a suggestion and to see what peoples views were on what they think could be a solution. I understand they're are only 2 sexes but obviously there is an ever-growing section of the population who are going to need to pee somewhere or am I totally unreasonable yo suggest that?

I specifically said I don't agree with using female-only places and I wasn't asking for women to solve the problem, merely asking people's opinions. You must know that many women do object. Women have lost their jobs for less than objecting over this sort of thing. I'd put money on most women in the country seeing nothing virtuous in your view, nothing at all. If you want to appear virtuous at least attempt to see both sides or pipe down.

statistically Izzard is just as likely to be sex offender as any other male (perhaps slightly higher when you consider that transvestic cross dressing is considered a type of paraphilia in the DSM, Izzard has self described as an ‘action transvestite’ in the past and paraphilias tend to come in clusters).

Eddie Izzard identifies as transgender. I admit I have an axe to grind here. I have a transgender Grandchild. I hope she never has to experience the hatred shown on here.

I agree Izzard is unlikely to assault anyone (although there are other reasons to keep men out) but neither is Izzard at any greater risk now, “in girl mode” than back in the 90s when they were a man in skirt or heels.

And presumably if acting in a Hollywood blockbuster in “boy mode” Eddie would be ok with using male facilities? So at what point do we go from no risk to high risk?

We don't need to be able to assess the likely risk of any individual male. It's impossible. That's why we have blanket rules for single sex spaces.

It was a rhetorical question, you know, joining in a conversation, kicking ideas about, a mature, adult and reasonable discussion - did I ask you or any woman to go out and to implement whatever ideas that might emerge??? Trans people are literally proof that sex and gender are different things. The weird coincidence that trans identifying people chose the names of the sexes to label their feelings of inner gender does not mean they actually are the opposite sex!
