There are rumours circulating on Twitter that Carly-May Kavanagh (the one who screams at babies: Daily Mail) has, despite her “apology” been suspended from the Labour Party. Presumably such a suspension would have an impact on her job as Lloyd Russell-Moyle‘s head of policy?

Apparently if she is suspended it [probably] won’t be made public. Given the reason for her [potential] suspension; if Labour actually do take action, you’d think they’d want to reassure people that they expect their members to uphold certain standards. I mean, “not screaming abuse at infants” is less upholding a standard than it is failing to trip over pebbles of basic decency…

Clearly one cannot put too much weight into Random Person Says Unevidenced Thing. However, it would be a foolish rumour to start without cause, so I thought it was worth starting a thread here to see if there are developments to follow.

Should Kavanagh face consequences for her behaviour it will be a watershed moment: Labour acknowledging women have rights all their own, including the rights to assemble & to speak on issues of concern to them, such as their need for single sex provisions.

This is so funny 🤣

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/09/2022 21:22

I was reminded of "HE'S GOT A WEAPON!" when some TRAs broke a man's sign and left him holding the stick it was attached to.

Oh yes. Wasn't that obviously some prick who was a righteous Netflix screenwriter?

Oh wow true story.

PC Gul can't be his real name?

Pee Seagull.

I know I've complained about derailing but this reminds me of ITV newsreader Chris Peacock (say it aloud)

Or perhaps she could have a nice new T shirt in the Stonewall style:

(That PR campaign really hasn’t aged well, has it?)

SapphosRock · 28/09/2022 10:57

It really hasn't.

Some males will win in women's sport. Get over it!

Some lesbians have penises. Get over it!

Women's rights are meaningless. Get over it!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/09/2022 11:06

I thought this was really good, and from the heart. From DJ Lippy:

Puberty blockers have reduced kids’ bones to dust.
Get over it!

Teachers are terrified of failing to remember students’ superspecial made-up neo pronouns!
Get over it!

Female prisoners are locked in cells with penis-owning paedophilic predators.
Get over it!

Lesbians are non-men attracted to non-men (some of whom are actually men!)
Get over it!

It really does highlight how different the LGB are to the TQ+ - ‘Some people are gay. Get over it!’ is factual and playful (because a consensual relationship between two same adults has minimal to no impact on everyone else) whereas the TQ wants to completely reorder society and language in a way that causes material harm to lots and lots of people (including people with gender dysphoria).

NecessaryScene · 28/09/2022 11:21

I can assure you, I am quite over the fact that some people are trans.

I totally ignore any such identification.

That is a brilliant article and Lippy’s position/background is similar to my own (although I haven’t yet been able to draw all the threads together in such an insightful way).

We had a good ol’ try at changing the left from within, but at this point, it feels like being repeatedly punched in the face by our left wing MPs (who we have door knocked and leaflet dropped for) whilst simultaneously being DARVO’d by anonymous males in black uniforms who ^identify* as being US!

When you consider that the ‘antifascists’ are the nearest contemporary, western thing we’ve got to actual fascism it’s perhaps not surprising that they also use other words in a similar, reality-concealing manner. Prime example: ‘woman’

That's a brilliant analysis. And I agree with every word.

It's blindingly obvious that those who think it's all almost solely driven by sex aren't
just shut down by the men who are doing it, but by the women who find it a really uncomfortable notion.

I will never understand the position of WPUK, for instance, whose I think do good work, of platforming a self confessed AGP, who claims to stand up for women's rights, when AGP is a violation of women's rights just by existing.

I hadn't realised the two factions parted ways like that in the 70s, though. That's very interesting. And really resonates in the way things diverge now.

TheClogLady · 28/09/2022 12:12

There is a documentary on American feminism that goes into the sex positive/ no thank you feminist split. The documentary described it as the argument that eventually became the start of the third wave.

The sex positive lot won the popular argument (unsurprisingly! It was obviously the feminisim that men liked best 🤦‍♀️) and thus saddled us with choosy-choice, Only-Fans-is-empowering ‘feminism’ of the present day.

I’ll try and find the documentary…

SapphosRock · 28/09/2022 15:32

That is an interesting article from DJ Lippy.

Here is an excellent one from Jean Hatchett

https://thecritic.co.uk/men-of-the-far-right-and-the-womens-movement/?fbclid=IwAR1teXzO3ypWW7Qscyg9dwJumrmIy8JO1cUygnVyCcx7l0JCro41HBDlgpc

On one side of the fence are aggressive men screaming “fascist” at women who are clearly not. On the other side, skulking in the shadows, beneath the banners of women, are men who clearly are.

Keep your eyes peeled, women. This movement is not for rent to fascist men. This is our opportunity to follow our Olympian weightlifting sisters and say, “No, thank you.”

Hepwo · 28/09/2022 16:10

That article written by Jean Hatchet reads as if Hearts of Oak are part of an "inner circle" and men from the group made a speech in Brighton as part of this inner circle.

Three quarters of that article is about Hearts of Oak.

They are definitely polishing this up as much as they can! Loving the chance to write a little story about "the far right" bogey man innocent women are "ally" fodder for.

Jean, you are so kind, I would have accidentally become a raging fascist after my trip to Victoria Park on Sunday if you hadn't helpfully copied a few other peoples tweets and handy bits of Wikipedia for our ignoramus benefit (she wasn't there of course and her connection to this is non existent other than her previous rants about PP and the"far right").

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 28/09/2022 16:55

Im actually sick to death already of the ‘turn them away’ bollocks 😒

seriously how the fuck are women supposed to do that, especIally in an open air forum…

Helleofabore · 28/09/2022 17:06

And we go the full circle.

I had thought that it was now debunked that these men were in the 'inner circle' and that who was, was documentary makers.

AND AGAIN, people can walk right up to be close. That is the WHOLE FUCKING POINT! Even trans activists who are NOT extreme and just want to hear can walk up and be there.

This continued narrative really, really points out that those making that point obviously have not been to more than one of these speaking events. And why is that then?

Jean Hatchet can be very odd sometimes. She can be quite brilliant but equally she can be dogmatically bonkers. She was the latter on here once.

It involved a musician who was sacked by his band after he was convicted of domestic violence. The band had behaved impeccably, supporting the woman but saying nothing which would have prejudiced the trial, especially given the woman in question hadn't wanted a prosecution, but Jean was frankly ranting and raving about them for little more than the crime of being men.
