There are rumours circulating on Twitter that Carly-May Kavanagh (the one who screams at babies: Daily Mail) has, despite her “apology” been suspended from the Labour Party. Presumably such a suspension would have an impact on her job as Lloyd Russell-Moyle‘s head of policy?

Apparently if she is suspended it [probably] won’t be made public. Given the reason for her [potential] suspension; if Labour actually do take action, you’d think they’d want to reassure people that they expect their members to uphold certain standards. I mean, “not screaming abuse at infants” is less upholding a standard than it is failing to trip over pebbles of basic decency…

Clearly one cannot put too much weight into Random Person Says Unevidenced Thing. However, it would be a foolish rumour to start without cause, so I thought it was worth starting a thread here to see if there are developments to follow.

Should Kavanagh face consequences for her behaviour it will be a watershed moment: Labour acknowledging women have rights all their own, including the rights to assemble & to speak on issues of concern to them, such as their need for single sex provisions.

If he did hit her, he obviously shouldn't have done so. As I say, she needs to make a police report. As it was a while ago, nothing seems to have come of this so maybe she decided not to or there was no corroborating evidence. There were plenty of potential witnesses though.

I can confidently say that no regular MN poster has or would condone a male punching a female in such an attack on this thread.

A good old fashioned Plopper shoving their gender unspecific oar in really is a remarkably affective method of getting the FWR wimms band back together!

This reminds me of when a TRA tried to steal Maria McLachlan's camera and a few pictures were made to look like she had been the aggressor when she resisted them taking it from her.

I was reminded of "HE'S GOT A WEAPON!" when some TRAs broke a man's sign and left him holding the stick it was attached to. They were, at best, indifferent to the prospect of getting him killed. Lying and self-victimising are consistent tactics, they seem to have dehumanised their enemies to such an extent that anything is justifiable.

But yes, obviously men shouldn't hit women. I agree with this consensus. Yay!

I didn't think it was illegal to be right wing? Is it illegal to be far right? I don't understand the vitriol. Far lefters are surely just as 'dangerous' as far righters?

How about another thread in politics about which is more dangerous, fascism or Marxism? I think we've exhausted the far right convo on this one.
