There are rumours circulating on Twitter that Carly-May Kavanagh (the one who screams at babies: Daily Mail) has, despite her “apology” been suspended from the Labour Party. Presumably such a suspension would have an impact on her job as Lloyd Russell-Moyle‘s head of policy?

Apparently if she is suspended it [probably] won’t be made public. Given the reason for her [potential] suspension; if Labour actually do take action, you’d think they’d want to reassure people that they expect their members to uphold certain standards. I mean, “not screaming abuse at infants” is less upholding a standard than it is failing to trip over pebbles of basic decency…

Clearly one cannot put too much weight into Random Person Says Unevidenced Thing. However, it would be a foolish rumour to start without cause, so I thought it was worth starting a thread here to see if there are developments to follow.

Should Kavanagh face consequences for her behaviour it will be a watershed moment: Labour acknowledging women have rights all their own, including the rights to assemble & to speak on issues of concern to them, such as their need for single sex provisions.

That young lady was not aligned with andrew and epstien was a friend, a scummy disgusting friend that he should have dumped well before this but a friend none the less

SapphosRock · 24/09/2022 19:10

Re the article, the author is a good friend of mine and has done a huge amount for local women in Brighton & Hove.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 24/09/2022 19:10

Fucking ridiculous

masses of photos of children with jimmy saville…they weren’t aligned either

Hepwo · 24/09/2022 19:11

Oh wow that website!

It's a feminist group website of about ten pages at the most, with their meetings and purposes etc as you would expect, and ONE WHOLE PAGE about why they all hate Posie Parker.

Fookin WEIRD.

TheClogLady · 24/09/2022 19:11

Has Posie been caught trafficking pugs to Andy Ngo’s private island again?

I wasn't talking about the young lady.

It's the alignment with the lady on the right that's problematic.

reesewithoutaspoon · 24/09/2022 19:12

Wooo 6th form debating techniques. god that takes me right back.

picklemewalnuts · 24/09/2022 19:13

It's ok, I think, to worry about some stuff PP might believe.

That doesn't mean your friend hasn't done great things for local women,

It doesn't mean PP can't do great things for women.

It doesn't mean it's ok to be dungaree screaming woman.

picklemewalnuts · 24/09/2022 19:13

It doesn't mean it's ok to attack PP.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 24/09/2022 19:14

Oooh the lady you can’t see

I get the feeling that you are trying to hook something with that post.

But instead I will say this.
Doing a lot for local women doesn't mean that what she writes can't be critiqued

FigRollsAlly · 24/09/2022 19:22

Gordon Brown was filmed chatting away with Boris Johnson recently (at the proclamation meeting). Are they now aligned?

TinselAngel · 24/09/2022 19:22

I think we've jumped the shark on this thread now with the Epstein/Maxwell comparison.

LK1972 · 24/09/2022 19:22

The more I watch left wing women insisting on restricting speech the less centrist I become.

Why should Hearts of Oak/Andy Ngo not be allowed to film the event? What's wrong with women's stories being told to an audience that would normally be unsympathetic? This is a democracy, others are allowed to hear what women have to say.

So some left-wingers make as much noise as possible to drown out women talking about their lives.

Then other left-wingers complain that some right-wing people (sorry, fascists) set up a tripod close enough to the mic so women are heard over the din the protesters make. And then dare to broadcast said women's speech to their Neanderthal followers, the horror!

Why is the left so keen not to let women be heard?

not if you consider were they are and what would happen if they posted/or didn't post things inline with some of those in the area.

TheClogLady · 24/09/2022 19:11

Has Posie been caught trafficking pugs to Andy Ngo’s private island again?

Yep, and that baby was a pilot and CMK found out. It all makes sense now.

Itsutterlybonkers · 24/09/2022 19:28

I have been shouted at by an older version of this young woman - having a lovely evening in a restaurant, with what I thought were new friends. I barely knew her and she behaved like I disgusted her because I believe in single sex spaces (Conversion generated by her and she refused to let go). I knew it was controversial but hadn't realised how much vitriol there is. There was no containing of her anger at all.

I don't get it. There are men in court week in week out for violence against women. You have to step over people in the street every day in Brighton whose lives are destroyed by the lack of mental health care. There are so many things to be upset about, to lobby about. How come this cause and so much toxic energy?

Sappho I was excited to see a Brighton group of gender critical feminists. But why so much about Posey Parker on the website?

ILikeDungs · 24/09/2022 19:30

This has become very silly indeed. "Oh look, a squirrel/Epstein!"
That is what all this HoO doo-dah is about. Nothing else. "Look over there, not over here..." I will not put up with purity spirals or distractions so will go back to the thread title.
I am a first time poster. Lurked for years, didn't need to sign up. I know Sapphos, for instance, from before the dust up with her partner and the opening of her eyes to this same sex destroying ideology. I remember I am Spartacus and the much lamented departed Lang Cleg. What prodded me, finally, to sign up? The Baby Botherer.
I didn't realise that new sign-ups can't post for the first 24 hours on FWR threads so 24 hours or so ago, on page six, there were several comments about Carly's dungarees. That she looked like an overgrown toddler, and that it was a look common to non binary women.
But Monday morning as I sat in bed catching up on MN and viewed the video my first reaction was OMG this very badly behaved woman gleefully telling off a man and his baby is wearing my dungs! How very embarrassing. Not just the same Lucy & Yak but the same (apparently infantalising) colour as well. Did people look at me that way?? I just really like the colour. I know Lucy and Yak are very woo but they make good dungs. People are allowed to have opinions I don't share. My beliefs are protected and so are their beliefs. All good.
Getting that out of the way, I was there! I was there! And it was wonderful. Really wonderful. I was a little late, but what I should also point out given how the thread has moved on is that nobody in the "inner circle" crowd with the speeches acted inappropriately when I was there, nobody who dressed to intimidate or conceal their identity, who threw glitter or smoke bombs, who tried to silence protesters with megaphones and sirens, who got arrested for carrying weapons, etc etc. I think that what KJK is doing for women is amazing, and the fact that a public meeting was filmed by a group and put on their website...honestly, what is the issue? What? More people will hear the strongly held positions of women dedicated to maintaining single sex spaces. How is this a bad thing? Again, people are allowed opinions, they really are. Not everyone will think like you on every issue and that's ok.
But the TRAs needed a squirrel and found one. I am saddened that so many women fell for it.

Ohnohedident · 24/09/2022 19:32

i think the misognyist idea that women are differentiated in to GOOD and BAD is so pervassive that we are seeing feminists like Sarah and Dr Stock doing it to Posy without even recognising that is what they are doing.
Also it positions them as the good women in opposition to Pp who is the bad women.
They think it will buy them some virtue in the hearts of men who hate women.
Thats a mistake most women make.

TheClogLady · 24/09/2022 19:33

dungaree screaming woman

i propose we coin a brand new turn of phrase in Carly May Kavanagh’s honour…

’Dungareeeeeeee-ing’

WildIris · 24/09/2022 19:34

SapphosRock · 24/09/2022 19:06

@Helleofabore

This is such a weak argument. Even someone having their photo taken while standing and talking to a ‘problematic’ person does not mean that they are aligned.

Really?

Oh, FFS, now you really are showing yourself up for just how batshit your arguments are.

If I was unknowingly standing next to a, for eg, BNP supporter at the bus stop and someone filmed them for whatever reason and I was caught in that photo, does that mean I am aligned with the BNP?

You really need to work on your critical thinking skills @SapphosRock .

SapphosRock · 24/09/2022 19:34

Feel free to critique the Brighton feminists all you want. They are constantly doing grass roots activism, responding to public consultations, challenging the Green Party, attending council meetings, doing demonstrations, supporting women's refuges. If you think they can do better I'm all ears?

Helleofabore · 24/09/2022 19:34

SapphosRock · 24/09/2022 19:10

Re the article, the author is a good friend of mine and has done a huge amount for local women in Brighton & Hove.

And yet... hypocrisy writ large.

You are here declaring that author has 'done a huge amount for local women in Brighton & Hove' and is your good friend, yet you defend a whole page tearing apart the reputation of another woman who, I believe, would have probably supported you, based on very bad faith interpretations and differences of opinions.

You are here defending the potential exploitation of other women's bodies to provide eggs for 'fertility equality'. I reckon you should go out and renounce all the other prominent feminists who agree evenly party with Kellie Jay Keen that no female should be put in the position of potentially being exploited emotionally or financially to provide another woman with a child.

And that is not even touching on the points Kellie Jay made in the context of ensuring that no section of any community is left unchecked because of whatever reason when girls are being raped and sexually abused.

I am sorry. But you very much have come across today as someone who is very prejudiced against Kellie Jay Keen and your reasons really have been weak.
