There are rumours circulating on Twitter that Carly-May Kavanagh (the one who screams at babies: Daily Mail) has, despite her “apology” been suspended from the Labour Party. Presumably such a suspension would have an impact on her job as Lloyd Russell-Moyle‘s head of policy?

Apparently if she is suspended it [probably] won’t be made public. Given the reason for her [potential] suspension; if Labour actually do take action, you’d think they’d want to reassure people that they expect their members to uphold certain standards. I mean, “not screaming abuse at infants” is less upholding a standard than it is failing to trip over pebbles of basic decency…

Clearly one cannot put too much weight into Random Person Says Unevidenced Thing. However, it would be a foolish rumour to start without cause, so I thought it was worth starting a thread here to see if there are developments to follow.

Should Kavanagh face consequences for her behaviour it will be a watershed moment: Labour acknowledging women have rights all their own, including the rights to assemble & to speak on issues of concern to them, such as their need for single sex provisions.

How many metres away should the baby be before the video is 'unreasonable'?

This would probably make sense if the impact of fascists being present & live streaming meant that anti fascists behaved towards actual fascists as expected i.e. maybe shouting fascists at actual fascists. No one paid the slightest bit of attention to them. And if they had knowledge of their presence, having an actual fascist there to shout at wasn't a strong enough reason to stop the abuse/harassment/intimidation of women speaking in public.

The idea that the presence & behaviour of actual fascists somehow dulled the impact of Baby Fascist Bully woman is quite fanciful. I'm sure you think your arguments are logical. But I'm struggling to take you seriously with every post made, moving the fantasy to a new level each time.

Actual fascists don't even register with antifacists but the whole world collectively shrugs at Baby Fascist Bully woman while saying 'if only those actual fascists weren't there, we could really get upset about that women screaming fascist in the face of a baby'.

I don't agree with everything she does or says but she's done an absolutely outstanding job of bringing this deranged, insidious ideology to the attention of the general public. "Adult Human Female" alone has gone global.

i remember sapphos from previous names and although we don’t on the vast majority of things (in the past) i think her heart is in the right place and she generally did what she thinks is right

so although I completely understand where she is coming with the whole fascists thing, I don’t understand why its ok to yell at a baby if there are perceived bad people around

Oh god it's all so bloody boring. A week ago there was an event where the supposedly morally righteous side sent an open invite to stop women speaking "by any means necessary". Those means, it turns out, were masked men in black, smoke bombs, a man bringing a bag full of knives, a woman throwing glitter in a black woman's dreads in a personally targeted attack and FINALLY a woman shouting fascist at a baby.

But look! A pigeon! Some baseless slurs about guilt by association to distract from literal (in the original sense) violence and crimes! Look at how awful these women are trying to stand up for their rights because they're not pure!

And on Friday a man was punched by two women, but nothing about whether or not he was holding a baby or if Andy Ngo was in the area.

The other right wing media people there were presumably interested to report on what was happening.

Left wing media don't bother because they don't want to report what actually happened, they want to throw accusations about fascism about to justify the TRA behaviour.

It's weird because I've been to lots of public events, lots of feminist events, open mic events. Attended by people across the political spectrum. They all managed to go ahead without being attended by far right fascists.

I can understand why CMK would be upset and angry at the presence of fascists in Brighton.

I cannot understand why she chose to take her anger out on an innocent baby and dad.
