Home Secretary should reform failing police forces - think tank https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-627323366^

Very pleased to see this statement, and the BBC reporting it, but is it going to make a difference?

So you say. Easy to say.

Why are you, as a member of a UK police force, so virulently and doggedly against women who stand up for women's rights; and so willing to debase women on a public messageboard?

Do you understand that?

See last msg .

I've lost sleep over those cases and those victims.

This wasn't a police failing in the end - it was a CPS - crown prosecution service - failing. Hours and hours of work went into those cases . Heart soul blood sweat and tears . You've absolutely NO idea .

Well there's a reason that the CPS are known as the Criminal Protection Service. It's because they Couldn't Prosecute Satan.

That said, even if your own team was and is very determined to bring these men to justice (and there have been a string of prosecutions recently, so someone is clearly doing their job), it remains the case that in many areas there were police officers, social workers and other staff within the public sector who believed that these children were "asking for it". There were also management in multiple agencies in several areas who ignored or even persecuted whistleblowers. When Jayne Senior made complaints to the IOPC about the conduct of senior officers, she received phone calls from the IOPC threatening action if she did not drop it. DC Maggie Oliver was told by a senior officer: "Maggie, calm down. Listen: What would these kids ever contribute to society? They should have just been drowned at birth". Something is certainly rotten, and the pungent stench is coming from the very top.

Tbh I feel like some kind of punchbag for this thread .

It doesn't matter what I say , what good work I've done with women and girls who have been victims of crime at the hands of men . I'm the enemy apparently. That's how it feels . At least I've tried to do something to make a difference in this male dominated profession. I've done some really good work for women . But I'll be the enemy because I'm in the police which it appears is the enemy to these boards . I'm not the enemy. The job needs more women like me . But I'm tired now and I can't keep attempting to defend myself. All the pathetic "you ok hun " really doesn't help any engagement or discussion. I'm fine . Thanks for asking. I'll keep doing what I do .

I don't believe what you're telling us

  • about what a good police officer you think you are, and a good feminist, and a good person you think you are.

I disagree.

MangyInseam · 16/09/2022 01:22

The fact that a man going into the women's change rooms isn't an offense isn't the fault of the police.

But that isn't really what is being talked about in terms of "collecting intelligence".

Collecting information about non-illegal activities, especially that could be given to people like employers, is an infringment of civil liberties.

Can you imagine how easy it would be to justify keeping information about things like groups people attended? It's not much of a leap to go from these kinds of stickering complaints to making lists of women who go to meetings about women's issues.

Oh no ! What shall I do ! You're opinion really matters to me . I'm goi g to go and resign now . I'm a terrible person . Yep .

stillvicarinatutu · 16/09/2022 01:25

I think I'll go become a Buddhist nun instead .
Thank you . Light bulb moment . I'd better redeem myself before I hit those pearly gates !
Thanks .

Oh, get a grip, for goodness sakes.

If you get this upset on a women's message board, because women object to men being bastards in all sorts of ways - then I really don't think you should be working at this time as a police officer. You sound overwrought and pissed off against women, and not a safe person - for women - for you to be a police officer.

But I wonder if you can tell me what you've done for rape victims, victims of voyeurism, and victims of CSE? You must be really so much better than me, you must have done way more than I have to tell me I'm not a good person let alone police officer. I'm all ears ! What have you done for these women and girls ? Apart from lost opinions on mn of course .

We just let the trans man into womens spaces and changing rooms then because they say they're identifying as a woman , and that's fine by me . They've committed no crime . Who knows what their motivation is . They must just feel more comfortable in the womens changing room . They are a woman now after all cos they've said they are . No one would ever use that to gain Access to womens changing rooms just to letch would they ? No . If they say they are identifying as female , sporting a dress we just believe that . No ulterior motive at all . No point in listening to anyone saying otherwise for intel purposes. They're just being prejudiced. We have to respect a man in a dress in a ladies changing room of course . Absolutely. I fully agree . 100% .
And there I think we've gone full circle .

No one has said that. I offered a couple of possible avenues for an investigation into the hypothetical Mr Brown's activities. Voyeurism or outraging public decency. The best you could come back with in response was along the lines of "what if no one reports it? If no one reports it then no crime was committed so the only way we can tell people what a nonce he is would be by bypassing the legal route to punishment".

Yes, if a crime isn't reported there's not much that can be done (though it would help if the police could be relied upon to take any such reports seriously rather than starting a counter case for the wrong think by the victim). Benevolent tyranny is still not the answer though, because it so often morphs into malignant tyranny.

DdraigGoch · 16/09/2022 01:42

@stillvicarinatutu you need to stop taking everything said as if it were a personal criticism. There are 160,000 police officers in the UK. Many of them are decent people. You could well be one of them - I don't know, I've never met you. Some however are lazy, cowardly or even corrupt. They are the ones who we are talking about. If you do not believe that you are one of them, then for your own sake stop acting like a martyr every time that the rotten apples in the barrel are pointed out. You should be appalled at what these rotten officers (particularly the senior ones) have done to the reputation of the police as a whole, and be willing to denounce failure.

SongAtTwiighlight · 16/09/2022 01:46

Men like you really should not be members of any police force, anywhere, because you obviously hate women, and the proof is that you're here, right now, telling women how terrible we are for our stance for women's rights. And you've banged on about this for the past 36 pages.

You have spent 37 pages fighting women's rights and being an apologist for men's domination. You've obviously done the Stonewall police training - women are scum, unless they are "transwomen"!!

Trust me - I get very appalled. But it seems these criticisms are exclusive to police . There are shit social workers who neglect their duty because they wouldn't go into a house where there was scabies to save a child's life . There are shit cops yes , also shot social workers , shit nurses , shot doctors, shit politician's. It feels quite often the scape goat for all is the police service. I'm not taking it personally. Yku do t know me and I don't know you. Yku could be a great advocate for your chosen career or a really shit one too . I don't know you . But some of the comments here have been personal - I don't t believe you blah blah blah . That's pretty personal is it not ? Some of the comments have been aimed at me personally. So yes I feel I do have a right of reply to those . I actually sit really care of my work with CSE victims is t believed . Or my work with rape victims or victims of domestic violence. It seems to suit some to just decry everything I say because I'm one of those horrible evil nasty cops .can you not see those comments? I agree with a mot of the sentiment here - but it's hard when you keep
Getting called a
Liar. That is quite personal isnt it ?

I'm a woman . I've said this before but if you want to give me a sex change that's fine .

stillvicarinatutu · 16/09/2022 01:57

See now I'm getting g called a man!

How am I not meant to take this personally when I am a 50 year old woman , a survivor of childhood domestic abuse , homeless at 16 . Do tell me if you wouldn't find that offensive?

You're mates on here aren't doing this discussion any favours by simply saying I must be a man because I'm trying to explain how policing works!

I'd call that a bit of an own goal.

You mr are bonkers . You must be a man to be so doggedly determined I'm not a woman . Are you always this blinkered? Must be a man. Doesn't listen .!

SongAtTwiighlight · 16/09/2022 02:00

You're still deflecting and going on about how shit other people are on women's rights. Yes, they are. But we're talking here about how shit the police are on women's rights. And how shit the police are on investigating sex crimes against women and children.

MangyInseam · 16/09/2022 02:01

Yeah, I wish people would stop with this stupid shit of calling people men just because they say something they don't like.

Grow up. People can disagree with you even if they are the same sex you are.

SongAtTwiighlight · 16/09/2022 02:01

"You mr are bonkers . You must be a man to be so doggedly determined I'm not a woman . Are you always this blinkered? Must be a man. Doesn't listen .!"

Are you OK, hun?

stillvicarinatutu · 16/09/2022 02:02

Yeah a man would say that because they're generally hard of hearing .

You must be a man . Like me . Apparently.

stillvicarinatutu · 16/09/2022 02:02

I'm fine hun . Thanks . Are you also doing a head tilt ?
