Antipodean fruit grower statement

nothingcomestonothing · 27/08/2022 13:44

The antipodean fruit growers site is down. A statement from the owner reads in part:

What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [redacted by me as would be against MN talk guidelines] while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which criticizes [redacted], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead.

Posted for info.

anyway, it’s not the trans-ness that has attracted negative attention, it’s the (alleged) sending prescription drugs to minors behind their parents backs.

It's interesting how some of the new user names posting here are trying to smear KF as an anti-transgender doxxing website when it is primarily concerned with child safety.

I usually say that KF does not have an agenda beyond schadenfreude and edge. And it doesn't. However it is a fact that they have always had a genuine soft spot for children and animals. Those issues when they arise really seem to galvanize a broader subset of the Kiwis.

Kiwi-Keffal Kerfuffle

i'm sure that's a dance.

RoyalCorgi · 03/09/2022 18:23

I've read Ben Collins's Twitter thread and the horrified responses, mostly asking for it to be closed down.

Not once does he mention that Kiwi Farms has exposed a number of sexual predators. Neither, as far as I can see, does he provide any evidence of it being right-wing. (Obviously a lot of content on KF is unkind and unpleasant but that's not the same thing as being right-wing, is it?)

I wonder why Ben doesn't mention KF's expose of sexual predators? And why he's so keen for it to be shut down?

TheClogLady · 03/09/2022 18:33

There is a KF thread on the Collins ‘expose’.

No link as Mumsnet doesn’t allow linking to other chat sites but it’s called

‘This entire thread made me laugh so hard. Senior NBC Reporter TWEETS ABOUT KIWIFARMS!!! DUNDUNDUN - For years, there was one site extremist researchers warned me not to cover because publicizing it would be dangerous’

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2022 20:36

I do find it surprising that someone would draw attention to a site that exposes their various illegal and unsavoury activities.

Are they banking on purity spirals that require mobs to cancel targets while carefully avoiding checking evidence for themselves?

I'd have thought there was a fair risk of at least some of the traffic having a wee sneaky peek at the offending threads.

Deliriumoftheendless · 03/09/2022 20:48

If anyone can’t be arsed to read JK Rowling’s essay they’re not going to bother reading pages and pages of info on KF.

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2022 21:05

Yes. There will be plenty of people happy to do as they're told and join in the mob. But raising the profile overall seems a pretty risky strategy, to me.

TheClogLady · 03/09/2022 21:16

I suppose both are simultaneously true? Lots of people will unquestioningly join the pitchfork crew, but anyone with more than an ounce of curiosity will likely take a peek?

bit like when people are told not to read the ‘terrible transphobia’ on Mumsnet…

sleepwbutterflies · 03/09/2022 23:33

And Cloudflare just caved. They dropped the site forever. It joins the ranks of Daily Stormer and 8chan before it. Cooler heads nowhere in sight.

Due to an imminent and emergency threat to human life, the content of this site is blocked from being accessed through Cloudflare’s infrastructure.

That’s an interesting statement.

dolorsit · 03/09/2022 23:52

Well that's just cut off a whole load of narcissistic supply!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/09/2022 23:56

As pp said, they will go looking for it elsewhere.

SantaCarlaCalifornia · 04/09/2022 00:04

Isn't it interesting that people have been trying to get Kiwi Farms shut down for years with no luck. But as soon as trans people start complaining en masse, off it goes. They're definitely the powerless ones, aren't they?

NotTerfNorCis · 04/09/2022 00:13

blog.cloudflare.com/kiwifarms-blocked/

It sounds like they didn't want to block KWF and still aren't comfortable with it, but the rhetoric on KWF itself has ramped up over the last 2 days until it crossed a line into criminal threats.

sleepwbutterflies · 04/09/2022 00:22

I've now seen the comment that got KF shut down. It's not fit to repeat here. It's not subtle. It reads like a humorless real terror threat. Again, it was only one comment and I believe it was deleted quickly, but not quickly enough. This is common, and it's called "fed posting" meaning that either it's a federal agent trying to entrap someone into joining in, an infiltrator from the Twitter side trying to get the feds' attention, or an incredibly unbelievably stupid real user. It is ban worthy.

The backup Telegram was halted 30 minutes later, and the chat erased. Now that Cloudflare has capitulated to the vocal Twitter mob, I expect any lesser provider to consider KF fully radioactive now.

There is a tiny chance that Cloudflare may restore service after verifying the comments have been cleaned up, but personally I am not betting on it. What I am betting on is that the Farms will be back before years end, most likely unchanged.

ItsLateHumpty · 04/09/2022 00:34

This is the last message from KF / JM. I don’t know enough anything about fed posting but does this message backup your supposition sleepwbutterflies, as I’d think that any threat to life would have law enforcement asking the site host for user details?

“Cloudflare's decision to block the site was done without any discussion. The message I've received is a vague suspension notice. The message from Matthew Prince is unclear. If there is any threat to life on the site, I have received no communication from any law enforcement”

NotTerfNorCis · 04/09/2022 00:37

The one Keffals posted on Twitter sounds like a stupid joke. No way the 'lads' would be doing anything like that against some American nobody.

sleepwbutterflies · 04/09/2022 00:41

I can't do much but speculate right now, as the Kiwis' means of communicating are all cut off until the darknet version of the forum goes up, which ought to be very soon. I think Josh is saying that LE has not contacted him, only Cloudflare has. Josh always complies with warrants and in cases like this he is very happy to. Users creating additional grief for the site is not a good time for him whatsoever. Again, people posting actually bad comments, and being deleted and banned in short order, is fairly common. I can't know Cloudflare's mind on this - ie whether they used this instance as a pretext, or whether they really did think enough was enough.

Sonnex · 04/09/2022 01:24

You can still access it via a different (not CF hosted DNS) URL .... Just sayin

Sonnex · 04/09/2022 01:32

I've also seen the stupid post that they are referring to as 'imminent threat to life'. It clearly wasn't and was either a stupid genuine user making a stupid joke (think joking about having a bomb in your bag as you get on a plane) or one of the TRAs doing it deliberately then publicising it to Cloudflare. There must be loads of TRAs with accounts on there, either to read their own threads or to try and post disinformation.

sleepwbutterflies · 04/09/2022 01:41

Yep. Telegram and site are both back already. Didn't even have to wait until Christmas.

@Bosky your post on page 17 is excellent.

I'm late to this thread cos I've been over to the farms reading up on a very recent celebrity parent and her childs right to "die" in the UK
I haven't kept up with the news for a few weeks and this had not been on my radar at all. Completely stunned by it all and am only half way through.
I suspect if the farms wasnt around, none of this would be documented anywhere, and I do believe strongly that it should be documented.

There are areas I've ventured on kf and very quickly reversed out, but you dont see me very often on aibu here either, both are brutal, in different ways.

The language used on kf is definitely misogynistic, but I work in a place full of men who are equally if not more misogynistic. Even I sometimes come home from work and wonder if i really truly heard/saw whatever.

Not long ago all the men were scurrying around showing a picture of a girl telling everyone "shes 16" I didnt see it, dont know who it was, dont want to , but you can all guess what they thought her being 16 meant.
I have heard more than one man talking about bumming his girlfriend, having sex every night, using a prostitute, the stories about one of the few women in the place having sex with them all.
It never occurs that if she did in fact fuck them (I have my doubts) it wasnt for good reasons. And so many more incidents.
So the misogyny lives on in rl you ain't gonna get rid of it online where its anonymous.

I dont have answers, I'm just venting like others.

NecessaryScene · 04/09/2022 08:03

However it is good to see they have managed to find a new home on a soviet server

For technical clarity, the server hasn't moved - all names for the site ultimately go one server, which is why it was vulnerable to the last round of attacks. Null's plan is to distribute the servers around a bit to make it infeasibly expensive to simultaneously pay criminals to attack all simultaneously, (plus possibly make them easier to identify, if anyone would care to do any real law enforcement here?)

But it's been reconfigured so that when accessed via the Russian name, the server doesn't ask CloudFlare to "please pre-screen this access", but uses alternative DDOS protection. CloudFlare is not that fundamental to operation - they're just a hired "doorman".

Because there are so many attacks, basically Null's got it set up that he can easily switch "modes" for different names to the site, as countermeasures. Can sidestep a few attacks. Not as good as actually having multiple physical servers.

(The ru choice was possibly just chosen to wind up people who get wound up by that sort of thing. Not sure if there's a fundamental reason.)

Again, it was only one comment and I believe it was deleted quickly, but not quickly enough. This is common

From what I gather it was a comment up for 15 minutes from a user who had been inactive for 2 years, taken down immediately after Keffals got the screenshot. (No-one seems to know whether the poster or a mod took it down.)

A pattern very commonly used by the same groups on Mumsnet, so desperate are they to record "transphobia" here.

This is quite scary, isn't it? Watching a mob in full flow, being basically cheered on by the media and corporations, and no-one even attempting to stop them, or ask any questions...
