Izzard - womanhood not a 'mode'

That's it. Womanhood is not a 'mode' It's a biological reality - no on and off switch. Nor is it a feeling in a man's head. The sheer arrogance is astonishing.

He is becoming Mrs Badcrumble as he ages.

Eddie might see it as a superhero thing but I see it as a misogyny thing. If a woman wore that dress the press would berate them for their weight and size of their stomach. Eddie gets praise. These double standards are a good demonstration of what it is really like to live as a woman - which Eddie is not doing.

SO true.

That song - Such a good reference for what’s going on.

Ooh a GC Carter fan. Waves 👋👋👋

It looked like he was gender nonconforming, but in reality, he was vehemently conforming to male gender stereotypes. Self entitlement, centring his sex drive to the detriment of women and girls, whilst still retaining all the power of a man in show business.

it doesn't get more stereotypically male.

@Datun - So true I find it hard ti believe he lacks the perception to realise it. Or maybe he does, but doesn't care because it serves him.

I think maybe he does lack the perception. His sense of entitlement is so ingrained, that he doesn't even know that's it what it is.

Although, to be fair, I guess that's what self entitlement is anyway.

And these types always talk in terms of girl, never woman. They want to be seen to be a 17 year old ‘hottie’. Never a knackered middle aged mum of 3, who looks after her aging parents whilst working full time, and doing 95% of the household chores.
I may be projecting, and using this forum to vent.

Perfectly reasonable

Also things I never see emulated in 'girl mode' - puckered upper lip moustache, fat swollen ankles, 'comfort shoes', thinning hair, stray grey eyebrow hairs.

Not that Im taking any of this personally of course.

Phobiaphobic · 28/07/2022 22:51

Revolting man. What a disappointment.

Pumpkinjam · 28/07/2022 23:17

I like Eddie I think he’s a good actor but fundamentally he’s just a bloke that likes wearing dresses and makeup.

Nobody really cares and the majority of people I know in real life think this pronoun stuff is a load of nonsense. I agree and can’t wait until it all dies a death.

I don’t care whether someone’s appearance is fluid…..it’s our chromosomes that make us women not our choice of clothes and makeup so referring to a man as a ‘she’ is just a totally illogical and ridiculous concept.

Also why is it sooo offensive to go out ‘blacked up’ yet socially acceptable for men to go out in drag. Women might not be a minority group but something common to all
women regardless of race is that we have been and continue to be treated as second class citizens in society and regularly suffer violence at the hands of men.

Metabigot · 29/07/2022 07:23

Some people now are identifying as gender fluid non binary wtf because on a day when they want to wear a dress they must be a woman and a day they want to wear trousers and a t shirt they must be a man.

It has got that ridiculous.

When can we just identify as 'person' again?

Who cares what you wear ( in relation to 'gender identity ')

theDudesmummy · 29/07/2022 10:12

This is so disappointing, as many have said. I used to admire him, and thought he was cool. I saw him in a West End play many years ago, where he played Lenny Bruce, and he was so sexy (you got to see him naked, too, which was all good with me). Now he is just yet another narcissistic male privilege aersehole.

More on the fragrant Eddie's plans to stand for political office:

That first picture, if Vivienne Westwood, was roped into m&Co's Xmas campaign.

EI was one of many comedians and actors who featured in a talking heads programme about the Edinburgh Fringe on TV last night. I was interested to see what pronouns would be used given Eddie's switcheroo mode. Stephen Fry unsurprisingly threw in a 'she' a couple of times. In contrast Paul Merton did exactly what is done here and used Eddie's name repeatedly to avoid using a pronoun - 'Eddie was getting Eddie's act noticed' type thing. Private Eye dips its toe in GC waters from time to time and I like to think Paul and Ian Hislop discuss this topic even if it doesn't make it onto HIGNFY.

Abitofalark · 11/08/2022 16:55

There was a photograph of him in a dress in the Mail the other day, featured as an example of a summer dress and an 'anybody can wear anything' phenomenon by Janet Street Porter who described him as a transvestite.

BoredofthisCrap7 · 11/08/2022 17:17

I was in the camp of thinking EI was pretty funny in the 90s, saw him live a couple of times.
Now I think he's a total twunt.
www.vulture.com/2017/06/eddie-izzard-memoir-believe-me.html
He is a man who thinks he can use the female toilets, and somehow frames it so that the girls are at fault. No recognition AT ALL that his presence might have been intimidating or frightening.

Girl mode? You're a well past middle aged badly dressed MALE.

Fast approaching pensioner mode.

Wonnle · 11/08/2022 17:21

Used to think he was funny once but now think he's a grade A Bell End .

I reckon so. Good to hear Paul didn’t toe the pronoun line!

WeeBisom · 11/08/2022 22:02

He’s now in the mail saying it’s a great honour to be “promoted” to she/her and womanhood. Ffs being a woman is not a profession, you can’t be promoted to it. It makes me so mad that a member of the oppressor class thinks he can just be promoted into the oppressed class! You can’t even imagine how offensive it would be if he said this about any other protected characteristic, but womanhood it seems is fair game, up for grabs by everyone.

WandaWomblesaurus · 12/08/2022 00:45

"promoted"??????

I used to think he was so smart and funny and even attractive - his clothes were great, his wit was sharp. Clever clever man.

Now I am just trying to understand what he's playing at.

Being a woman is not a joke.

Alexaplaykatebush · 12/08/2022 01:16

Anyone with even the most basic knowledge of class analysis or woman's history would know that a man 'becoming' a woman had most certainly not had a promotion in any sense of the word.
I suppose this is just another example of men doing womanhood better then any of us actually women could do. .
Why have I never had a promotion??
I was stuck in my shit job in hospitality with no hope of promotion to a management position because I'm a single parent and I can't work 50 hour weeks until 1am. Even though I had done the job before and proved myself more than capable.
There are still loads of jobs out there indirectly discriminating against women who are carers.

Alexaplaykatebush · 12/08/2022 01:20

I'd like to see eddy do a 40 hour week in the service industry, run a home, alone, and look after children on not much more than nmw and still feel like he's been promoted. What absolute bullshit.
When does this stop???

bellinisurge · 12/08/2022 03:06

He's a wanker.

tararabumdeay · 12/08/2022 03:18

I saw him in a play called Lennie. I woud rather not have seen his cock.
Yuk.

xJoyfulCalmWisdomx · 12/08/2022 07:50

Seriously? He got his cock out in a play people had paid to attend?
Thats 😖

beastlyslumber · 12/08/2022 08:11

HER COCK you transphobic bigot!
