If you have a Conservative MP and want to protect the rights of women and safeguard children please email them TONIGHT and ask them to support Kemi.

Penny Mordaunt still the bookies favourite (and they aren't often wrong) but we need to let everyone know how dangerous it will be for this woman to become PM; I don't believe she has changed her mind for one moment.

Given that the policy comes from a government that makes a habit of inciting hatred of those who are different it is not too much of a leap to conclude that it is a policy based on hate.

You... do realise that Kemi is black? And that the tory government is the most racially diverse of any party in the uk, ever? Where does this idea that they have a "hatred of those who are different" come from? If they're all about hate, how did they appeal to all the women and ethnic minority members in their party?

Nah, not the right kind of diversity. Not the permissible sort.

Ah, here we go. I’m a racist, facist brown person because I object to being made to think in the way that white people signed up to identity politics dictate I should.

Thank you for illustrating my point so well, and sorry that you find people whose skin isn’t white not thinking in the acceptable way so triggering.

I tend to think of people as racist based on the views they express, the actions they take and the political parties they support. I am extremely interested to learn that other people take a different approach.

I think it’s quite clear from your posts that your jump to insults associated with extremism whenever someone doesn’t conform to your very rigid way of thinking, so I’m not too concerned about what you think.

I didn’t say that. I said you’re using the same language as someone who was a fascist, racist white person.

We all know what you were saying, Blossomtoes.

It might be the policies that they have put into effect and what they say, that makes me think that they have a hatred of people who are different?

I am interested to learn that diversity is all about how people look, because for me it is more about a diversity of thought and accepting the opinions of others.

It is interesting to see the left face a diverse candidate race

It’s not quite the convincing position with much posturing and what looks like a preference for current power structures

Hence some difficulty in addressing questions earlier from pp

The Conservative leadership race this time is a whole lot less diverse than it was last time, representing as it does only the right of the party. Where is the candidate equivalent to Rory Stewart?

beastlyslumber · 20/07/2022 10:34

@Blossomtoes since you've come back to the thread and seem to have a lot to say for yourself, maybe you could see your way to answering some of my questions from earlier on? I'll recap:

I asked you why you thought Kemi should take responsibility for what Britain First says about her. Also: why should Simon Woolley disagreeing with Kemi Badenoch be some kind of gotcha? Is she supposed to agree with all other black people? Or supposed to agree with the black people you agree with? Can you see why it's racist to expect black people to all be of the same opinion?

Well if posters are going to support extreme positions, then I don't think it is unreasonable to point out that those positions are extreme. Surely it is not an insult, shouldn't they be proud of their opinions?

Blossomtoes · 20/07/2022 10:36

I told you before I’m not engaging with you on the subject @beastlyslumber.

beastlyslumber · 20/07/2022 10:36

Well, maybe you could stand to be a little more diverse yourself, then, since you struggle to accept that anyone can think differently to you without being driven by hate.

Blossomtoes · 20/07/2022 10:37

Oh, the irony.

Don't engage then, if you're not engaging. Refusing to have the conversation and then coming back repeatedly to make the same points as you have before is a bit shitty. If you make arguments, then why can't you defend them?

Can you point out what is racist and extreme about my posts please? Thank you. Feel free to report the racism, by the way, it’s against the talk guidelines.

I’m not engaging with you. Hope that’s clear enough.

MarshaBradyo · 20/07/2022 10:42

Beastly as frustrating as it be assured there couldn’t be a neater example of your point than refusing to engage in simple questions.

It’s an interesting thread, I can see change of opportunity, I like it

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/07/2022 10:47

Such a fascinating thread

i’m working on the assumption that the people most ardently talking KB down here, and accusing her of hatred and extremism would describe themselves as life long left wingers.

no comparative discussion about her views and Liz Truss’s, or Rishi Sunak’s. Just ‘she is motivated by hate’. It seems a very extreme reaction

achillestoes · 20/07/2022 10:49

Starmer disputed the policy (I think) based on workability and expense. He didn’t say it was morally wrong as I remember it (it is, but there are also impacts of allowing unlimited immigration that are morally wrong).

@BernardBlacksWineIcelolly are you including me your assumption?

In which case you couldn't be more wrong.

It's such manipulative behaviour! Makes me think that's all there is to most of these arguments - just posturing, accusations, manipulations and gaslighting. When asked directly to explain what they actually mean - they're "not engaging".

What an excellent description of government by Johnson.

Explain how it's wrong? Because most of your posts are about how she's "driven by hate". Are you not a leftist?

Good lord, you are tiresome. Please try actually having a conversation, defending your arguments, responding to people's points. If you can't, then I'm not sure what you're actually doing here? Probably something we're not allowed to say.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 20/07/2022 10:55

The not engaging is, I would guess, a result of cognitive dissonance

’I’m a good/kind/inclusive person’ warring with ‘I instinctively don’t like this woman but am unable to articulate why I object to her particularly compared to others with similar views’
