gender woo and voting

Is party stance on gender woo a deal breaker for you? I am/have been a center left type my whole life, would never previously have even considered voting tory-but I cannot vote for parties that spout manifest bollocks. How about you? Or you friends?

OP posts:
Needmoresleep · 12/07/2022 22:29

And what party delivers your exact political priorities?

These posts seem increasingly disingenuous to me, Too Big.

I think my posts are crystal clear @MangyInseam. What is disingenuous about them?

I said that in my post. You keep saying the same thing, in many threads, and never once have you addressed the answers people give.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 10:18

I have addressed both questions and answers @MangyInseam .Confused

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/07/2022 02:24

Never? Would you vote for them if they came to their senses?

I'd be delighted if all politicians who have said TWAW admitted they were just following the party line, or that they used to believe it but they don't any more. But that wouldn't make me vote for them. A liar or a fool isn't a good enough choice.

No you haven't, and several people have asked.

We all know that lots of people in both parties were blind to the problems of gender ideology. We know that some members of the CP are still of the view that gender ideology is good.

We now have one party that has become aware and is beginning to deal with the damage, despite some members disagreeing, and one party that looks like it would go further into institutionalizing it and as far as they can shuts down members who disagree.

Why is it you think it's so crazy that women might prefer to vote for the latter rather than the former? Who do you think they should vote for?

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 15:01

I disagree that the Conservative Party has become aware and is beginning to deal with the damage @MangyInseam. The fact that Penny TWAW Mordaunt is so popular as potential leader demonstrates it. They don't give a shit about women.

I think it's crazy that women continue to believe the lies of a Tory party who have hammered women and Women's rights for the twelve years they've been in power.

MarshaBradyo · 13/07/2022 15:05

I think it’s risky if people will swing back to Labour or other party if PM gets it

Better to be pragmatic. Who will get self ID through - a party with loads of support for idea or minimal?

It concerns me that people will go back to Labour or other due to this, obviously everyone can vote for who they want but I’ve gone from feeling more secure to thinking yep we could end up undoing all the work in the next few years if it’s Labour.

I’ll see what happens though

On what basis do you say that?

Quite a few conservative MPs have said that they are aware. Including the (for the moment) PM.

They have said that they will not institute self-id.

They have initiated things like the Cass report which is the beginning of changing the whole approach to treatment of children.

They did not go ahead with including gender identity in their conversion therapy bill.

They have begun to look to roll back the damage done in schools.

They have begun to push back significantly on the involvement of SW in the civil service.

They have been clear that men in women's sports are not, in their view, ok.

Compared to the LP they are miles ahead the LP would not done any of this institutional stuff and in fact would be running merrily in the other direction. SW schemes would be the order of they day and they would still be setting the bar on policy, therapists would not be allowed to do anything besides affirm, there would be no Cass report, there would be self-id.

Look at the government of Canada if you want to see where we'd be if there had been a Labour government.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 15:39

On what basis do you say that.

On the basis that Austerity, Universal Credit, Brexit and the Cost of Living Crisis have hammered women.

On the basis the the Conservative Party GRA reforms and brought Self ID to the table and have led to a place where women are having to fight in court for their right to free speech and single sex spaces. And on the basis that they change their minds on a whim and have done little but tinker around the edges if the damage they have done to women, children and society as a whole.

I say it on the basis that they refused to make misogyny a Hate Crime.

I say it on the basis that they have refused to put our right to abortion in the Bill of Rights.

I say it on the basis of our statistics on rape.😱

And I say it on the basis that in 2022, Rishi Sunak said he would protect the word "mother" and feminists expressed their gratitude.🙄 It wasn't like this when the Conservatives came to power. It is now. And I see how much damage they have done over the past twelve years and will continue to do.

Agree, I think people are missing where we could be or direction we could go under Labour

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 18:26

I'll now add:
On the basis that Penny TWAW Mordaunt received the 2nd most votes in the Conservative Party leadership election.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

So you are agreeing that the LP would have brought in self-id, made affirmation only therapy the law, and the rest, and you consider that ok on balance.

That's certainly your choice but you are being pretty quiet about the trade off element of that.

Lots of left wing and feminist women have very serious concerns about things like bills of rights and hate crime legislation, so are probably disinclined to be critical of the Tories for avoiding them - on the contrary they are a reason to avoid Labour. Not is there any reason at all to think that rape would be fewer or rape cases would be any more successful under the LP.

I have no fucking idea what would have happened under a Labour government.Hmm I didn't mention the LP at all.Confused

I spoke about the hammering of women and erosion of women's rights that 12 years of Conservative government have inflicted on us.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 18:50

MangyInseam · 13/07/2022 18:32

I care because I am a UK woman. I thought that was clear. I have been consistent: I don't care about Labour, they're at least 2 years from being in power, if they ever get power at all.🤷‍♀️ I am not Canadian.

I care very much about me women. And the fact that 12 years of Conservative government has been disastrous for women.

MarshaBradyo · 13/07/2022 18:57

they're at least 2 years from being in power, if they ever get power at all

they might not win hopefully but it could be earlier than two years

I get your view on Cons as you have said a few times but if you don’t want them you need an alternative. if Self ID matters to you I can’t see any other party being ok on that issue

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 19:10

@MarshaBradyo I'm not here to offer an alternative. I'm here because I'm a feminist woman. And I'm here stating that Vote Conservative because at least they know what a woman is is a lie and ask that people are no longer taken it by it.

Some of them know.
Some of them don't.
None of them care about us.

I am here saying The Conservative Party are damaging to women. I think I've been consistent and clear.

MarshaBradyo · 13/07/2022 19:26

You don’t need to offer an alternative but anyone who doesn’t want Cons will need one

liking the bold though 😀

You consistently criticize women here for being happy that the CP has turned away from gender ideology, and when they say they would prefer the Conservatives over Labour. That doesn't seem like you don't care about Labour.

Politics doesn't happen in some abstract world, the fear that gender ideology will become more institutionalized in a way that is difficult to reverse is very much tied to which party is in power.

One way to influence parties is to tell them what you think, and when women have tried to do this with Labour they have been rebuffed. Telling CP members when they make a policy change that is positive is another way to try and shape their decision making.

You seem to think that supporting one policy indicates that people support them all.

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 21:47

Where have I criticised the women here @MangyInseam?Confused

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/07/2022 22:10

As I've said, I don't give a shit about Labour. If they had done what the Conservatives have done I'd be roasting their balls. I'm equal opportunities like that.😆

But Labour are not in power. They haven't been in power for 12 years. They won't be in power for 2(?) years. They may never achieve power. They are irrelevant to me.

My rights, Women's rights, Women's lives have been destroyed by 12 years of this Conservative government. I'm fine calling out the fuckwitted decisions made by the Tory government.

What people do with that information is their own business.

Jess Phillips really doesn’t want it to be Truss, does she?
