gender woo and voting

Is party stance on gender woo a deal breaker for you? I am/have been a center left type my whole life, would never previously have even considered voting tory-but I cannot vote for parties that spout manifest bollocks. How about you? Or you friends?

OP posts:

Wouldn’t Green jobs and grants making greener, less expensive to run homes work as a manifesto?

Healthy Lungs for Kids - electric car trade in grants.

Let the Sun Shine in your Pocket - solar panel grants

etc

There were solar panel grants from 2009-2011 and again in 2011-12, tapering off a few years ago. My PV panels pay me back £2k a year in feed-in tariffs and will continue to do so, with index linked annual raises, until 2035. From 2009 I told everyone I knew to invest in them: they offered an unbeatable rate of return. Those who did love me for it. Those who decided they needed a fortnight in Florida for the family, or a new kitchen, now curse themselves for their stupidity.

There are currently loads of schemes available for those on a low income or benefits to have their old boilers replaced with a heat pump for free. Tell everyone you know who might benefit. Google locally (I'm in Wales, the rules may be different here) or look in your local press.

Thank you for the advice. Aren’t heat pumps very expensive to run? What if you live in an older house, as I heard they are not very effective unless the house is clad (?) and air tight.

People who post links to extreme right websites are trying to ecountage people to visit them

it's not difficult.

the link the poster linked to tries to implicate George Soros

Don't you have any shame at all?

You seem to be wilfully ignorant that those who are gender critical are not given a voice in the mainstream press which is why these articles appear in rightwing media.

Might you also be wilfully ignorant of the role of Soros and other billionaires in the promotion of trans ideology? If you are simply uninformed here is an article quoting mainstream sources such the Foreign Policy Magazine, the Globe and Mail, Macleans, opensecrets.org outlining how billionaires such as the owner of the mega asset management company, Blackrock, Larry Fink and hedge fund manager George Soros are using their millions to inject themselves into public policy making and how those like Fink are heavily invested in trans related businesses and posed to reap massive profits in a market that is valued at 3.7 trillion US dollars outleadership.com/

"While opensecrets.org keeps track of Soros’ spending on political parties in the US, it’s almost impossible to know how much Soros spends on trans+ rights action around the world. The Open Societies Foundation describes itself as “inclusive” and lists 137.1 million spent on “equality and antidiscrimination” and 81.9 million spent on “human rights movements and institutions” in 2020 on its website.

How much of this goes to trans+ organizations is hard to know, but the OSF funds the Human Rights Campaign, Human Rights Watch, Planned Parenthood and the Tides Foundation, all of which emphatically champion the ideology that “transwomen are women”....

"Black Rock owns the lion's share of stock in 38 of the companies donating to Planned Parenthood, which has become the largest provider of cross-sex hormones to young people. They are also among, or, the largest share holders, along with Vanguard Group, of Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer, United Therapeutics, GlaxoSmithKline, AbbVie (the makers of Lupron), Merck, and Novartis. It would be easier to list the pharma giants not owned by BlackRock.

And, as retired British academic and researcher, Alan Neale, has pointed out

Fink is Co-Chair of the trustees of NYU Langone Health, which runs a Transgender Youth Health Program offering support for “gender-affirming medical interventions, including puberty suppression, gender-affirming hormone treatments, and gender-affirming surgery.” ...

Neal has also identified Blackrock as a “platinum partner” on the website of a small UK charity called “Just Like Us” that seems intent on ”normalizing the erosion of sex boundaries for under-12s.” It is also “a member of ILGA World, an international organization that lobbies governments to lower the age of consent.” This is a reminder that pedophilia has always lurked in the underbrush of men’s sexual liberation movements..."

This is a list of members of parliament and their views related to trans, if known, based on things they’ve said.

It was written for those who do want to vote for Gender Woo, but useful either way.

Somebody is lying certainly

"ILGA World is appalled that false stories are circulating attempting to imply that ILGA World is advocating to lower or eliminate the age of consent.

ILGA World categorically, and in no uncertain terms, does not advocate to eliminate or lower the general age of consent, nor supports paedophilia in any way, shape or form - and never has. Our position on this is clear and a matter of public record. These spurious claims, as old as homophobia itself, are dangerous and irresponsible, and we urge those making or sharing them, to stop.

ILGA World calls for the strengthening of the rights of children and young people, in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and condemns all forms of abuse (including sexual abuse), coercion, and exploitation of children and young people.

As regards our member organisations, we take strict measures to ensure that they abide by our values, and they are thoroughly screened during the application process. Any complaints or information received about members advocating or promoting paedophilia, are dealt with, and if founded will result in their expulsion from ILGA World."

antifascist · 12/07/2022 04:30

It looks as though @LordLoveADuck is spreading lies accusing opponents of paedophilia

if it’s 'almost impossible to know how much Soros spends on trans+ rights action around the world' why is his name on Bielek's list with a number of other Jews?

and yet I regular see articles and reports from the Times Telegraph Mail and Observer in the UK,

Its deny deny deny with these organizations with a similiar game plan (Protasia I'm looking at you) however their critics dig deep.

Women’s Human Rights Campaign (WHRC) Australia claims that international LGBTI organisations are working together to lower the age of consent. This makes paedophilia more accessible and, in some cases, even legal.

“... deep within this detailed 16 page Declaration are provisions urging governments to “eliminate . . . laws limiting legal capacity of adolescents . . . to provide consent to sex” (see 14a.)

“The document also calls for governments to “End the criminalization and stigmatization of adolescents’ sexuality” (see 14g.)”

www.binary.org.au/agenda_to_lower_the_age_of_consent

But surprise surprise ILGA no longer has that document on its website so sections 14a and 14b are not available for review. I did find this interesting tidbit at feministlegal.org:

".... according to the history recorded on its own website ((ILGA), until 10 years ago it was still excluded from United Nation’s ECOSOC status because of its earlier association with groups actively promoting paedophilia."

Thanks so much @LordLoveADuck for confirming that there is a section of the gender critical movement which consists of far right articles which spread paranoia and lies about opponents

TheBeardedVulture · 12/07/2022 07:25

It’s a line in the sand for me. If a politician can’t even define sex, how do they plan on addressing sexism.

I’m in Lloyd Russell Moyle’s constituency and he is terrible on this subject and was really patronising to me when I tried to engage with him on. I am a life long left wing voter, my family are below average income, and we are going to be hugely impacted by the rising living costs. It is infuriating that I feel like I have literally no choice in who I vote for because all the parties on the left have decided to go along with a load of queer theory and genderwang and throw me and my daughter under the bus.

Floisme · 12/07/2022 08:17

Yes it is infuriating, especially when the Labour Party could fix this in a heartbeat - at least as far as I'm concerned - by promising to leave the current legislation (EA and GRA) as it is. They won't. They won't even talk to the Labour Women's Declaration (despite Starmer promising to do so) or let them have a stand at their conference.

Excellent piece on the weaponising of trans rights in the Tory Leadership campaign

www.opendemocracy.net/en/5050/conservative-party-leadership-rishi-sunak-penny-mordaunt-trans-rights/

Do none of you have any shame seeing how your hobbyhorse- which impacts a very few people is being weaponised by the Conservative party and their docile press to allow a very right wing leader to make millions of girls and women poorer.

Needmoresleep · 12/07/2022 09:51

No one is weaponising trans rights. Women want to protect women's rights. Why should we be ashamed of that.

Needmoresleep · 12/07/2022 09:52

Why is it that some posters repeatedly come here to scold women about not centering men.

MarshaBradyo · 12/07/2022 10:06

Good point. I get it must be infuriating if you think women should be quiet and call it a ‘hobby horse’ etc - as the tide is turning in front of you

The sex and gender board is the least likely to be receptive to an angry voice trying to shame women though. However I’m glad it’s changing and women’s rights are top of the agenda.

I’m very relieved and also happy many on here continued despite insults etc

It affects more than 50% of the population.

achillestoes · 12/07/2022 10:22

@babyjellyfish

It affects everyone. I don’t know many men who sincerely want to share toilets and changing rooms with young girls.

babyjellyfish · 12/07/2022 10:24

Yes, it drives me mad when people act like the redefinition of both men and women as "gender identities" is a fringe issue which doesn't have serious consequences.

Why on earth are we even contemplating making such huge changes to pander to an absolutely tiny minority?

under what circumstances are men compelled to share toilets and changing rooms with young girls?

achillestoes · 12/07/2022 10:50

@antifascist

If a man walks into a changing room and there’s a young ‘transman’ in there getting changed, or he is already in there and one walks in after him.

babyjellyfish · 12/07/2022 10:52

Or if facilities are just made unisex to avoid any controversy.

Or that.
