I've not seen a thread on Amy on MN and the search didn't show up anything. She seems to be being put through the wringer by tras and by her nursing college.

I thought if she saw this thread it might be cheering Flowers, she's on twitter. I found her thanks to Bette.

From previous determinations I can see online it looks like the Edna McLellan (chair) is a registered nurse. She has the initials RN written next to her name.

I don't know if this publication titled "Women’s Wellness: An Integrative Literature Review and Evaluation Proposal" is written by the same Edna McLellan but if it is then I feel a little more hopeful for Amy. The paper is pretty TERFY by today's standards. No reference at all to "cis" women or "trans" people or "birthing parents" etc.

UK protecting women, unlike Canada. Yes!

chilling19 · 19/03/2024 18:42

Bildy doing a good job. I like that she is pointing out how things have moved on in the three years since Amy was accused.

Snowypeaks · 19/03/2024 18:44

Three years of this! Poor Amy.

Citing UK caselaw...

Allison Bailey v Stonewall

Tribunal doesn't have to adjudicate on the debate
Beliefs do not need to be expressed nicely

Also refers to Forstater v CGD

Also referring to Meade v SWE

We're doing so well on TERF island.

I've turned the video screen off as I can't bear to see bf's blue haired gormlessness.

Ah… blue hair. Say no more.

fallfallfall · 19/03/2024 21:21

i thought it would continue but my feed dropped at about 2pm. i've not been able to log back on?

DrBlackbird · 19/03/2024 21:27

I really don’t understand how a feminist lesbian lawyer cannot see the need for protecting women’s spaces. But then she saw fit to drain a rape relief centre of funding by forcing it into multiple protracted legal battles to try to enable a natal man to volunteer. How does that square with any feminist principles? Or even plain human decency. Depressing.

In the 1960s, findlay was admitted to a psychiatric ward against her will during her first year of university for admitting she was attracted to women

fallfallfall · 19/03/2024 21:30

@DrBlackbird if she was 20 in the sixties that would make her?? 80??

nauticant · 19/03/2024 21:37

Is this still going on? If so I'll log back in when I'm (shortly) back home.

chilling19 · 19/03/2024 21:42

Yes, still going on. Now it is the college's rebuttal to Bildy's closing argument. The panel are asking him questions.

It's nearly over. Main submissions have been made on both sides. College has had their right to reply and is now being questioned by panel. Presumably Bildy will have the same opportunity to reply.

chilling19 · 19/03/2024 21:46

Given the Canadian clusterfuck in this area, I can't call the outcome. It may be they say that Amy shouldn't have stated she was a nurse, but she has the right to her personal opinions absent this? So she should have been admonished on this basis - I.e. not to do this again, but no way should this have resulted in a witch hunt.

Signalbox · 19/03/2024 21:48

Finished now.

nauticant · 19/03/2024 21:50

Just as I get home. So, I get hours of braindeath by bf and I miss all of AH's counsel. Bah.

fallfallfall · 19/03/2024 21:58

@nauticant i can't say that ah's counsel was good interesting or even well presented BUT it did raise some valid questions which clearly caught the chair's attention.
the chair at the end asked two very important questions 1) was the content political 2) where did ah claim she was a nurse or nurse educator. the lawyers for the college seemed to dither on the political speech but conceded that in neither of the two area's of interest did ah claim she was a nurse or nurse educator.

Snowypeaks · 19/03/2024 22:03

I suppose that's a good sign?

I am wondering why it would damage her to say she was a nurse? Is that because she would somehow connect herself to the College and then be speaking in an official capacity?

fallfallfall · 19/03/2024 22:05

yes @Snowypeaks and therefore acting unprofessionally.

nauticant · 19/03/2024 22:13

Thanks for the summary fallfallfall. Well, although I got too much bf yesterday, I suppose it does me some good to remind myself from time to time how the genderists argue and what do they consider to be salient points.

Seemed a bit odd to me too but that’s what it says on her Wikipedia page.

Amy's statement on the trial on X

November 16, 2020: I got a letter saying that I was under investigation by @BCnursemidwife for my role in putting up an "I <3 JK Rowling" billboard.

I had recently become a single mom to a baby and a toddler. I felt my life was in pieces, personally and financially, and this letter nearly sent me over the edge.

So much happened between 2020 and now. I refused to keep the investigation confidential. I refused to accept a suspension or to publicly say I had been transphobic (because I am not). I was accused of spreading "medical misinformation" but then that charge was dropped, with zero explanation or apology (I demanded one but this demand went ignored).

The BCCNM fought like hell to prevent me from having a single witness to testify in my defence. They didn't want the public to know that they were persecuting me, and they also didn't want me to even be able to defend myself. They spent days and days of the hearing attempting to disqualify every single witness I brought forth. It was as astounding as it was terrifying.

I've received countless threats and have had plenty more anonymous, cowardly complainants try to have me fired for standing up for women and children. It continues to this day. There are battles that haven't been made public yet. (Yet!) I'm not the same person I was in 2020. (Just try me.)

I've been through more than 20 days of trial, which finally ended today, March 19, 2024. Now I wait for a verdict and hope for justice.

This process was hell. I did my best to endure itI haven't remained calm throughoutin the hopes that something good would come at the end. I also endured it because the truth matters. Free speech matters. Women and children matter.

I was overwhelmed with relief when @JCCFCanada told me they were taking on my case. They are the reason I was able to fight. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for @LDBildy and Karen Bastow. Lisa's closing remarks today were a wake-up call for Canada. They were perfect. (Lisa, please be my lawyer forever.)

Thank you to @Docstockk @JamesCantorPhD @coachblade @Mason134211f @Miriam_Grossman for showing upor being ready toto speak to the truth, and science.

And thank you to everyone out there who has given their support. I am bursting with gratitude for each and every person who took time out of their lives to encourage me in this fight. I needed it. I really did. And you gave it to me. Thank you.
