Are the Canadians going to have to tell us what the third sex is then? If the legal argument is being made that it is discriminatory to state there are only two sexes, for a judge to make a ruling that is indeed the case, surely evidence of the existence of more than two sexes must be brought? I am agog.
Also, in all seriousness, while the UK isn’t exactly paradise, if Amy’s case fails, if you look at the grounds for seeking asylum in the UK, I think she might qualify. The Forstater Ruling protecting gender critical views in the same way as religious beliefs seems absurd on the one hand; but if, on the other, it were to allow people from Canada to seek asylum here (as a last resort!) it might wake more people up.
(And yes, we should, as a priority, be establishing safe routes for asylum seekers from several other countries; the UK government has behaved abominably; the country is neither full nor a preferred destination for asylum seekers; but due to my neither being in government nor having magic powers - & thus being unable to effect policy change of any kind - I have posited the above. Just in case anyone was itching to have a wokescold about the audacity of daring suggest that someone with the right to seek asylum should they wish do so because they’re not The Right Type Of Asylum Seeker.
My use of the conditional with regards to asylum grounds & Canadians who don’t believe in gender was because there’s no precedent. And things get Political. Canadians are of course also more likely than most asylum seekers to be able to move here to work - 1 in 10 nursing roles in NHS England are currently unfilled, apparently, so…)
