Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Fck it. Just going to identify as agender as a GC feminist.

I'm technically agender anyway as I choose to not believe in gender woo.

If males can infiltrate feminism by saying they're women I'm infiltrating transgendersism by identifying as agender.

If I'm asked my gender identity why shouldn't I say this, it's technically true according to stonewall.

Quite like the idea of being a double agent of sorts....

Because it's a transphobic post and yet if someone complained I'd get the boot.

What was transphobic? Please point our where I have shown an irrational fear or hatred of transpeople.

The sad things I have all of the above. @placewherewebelong then why didn’t you share them rather than insulting people and scolding them?

I could ask the same of other posters.

You’re the one claiming you have those things, we’re just here for the bantz as the kids say

viques · 26/06/2022 15:54

Conflictedunicorn · 26/06/2022 15:46

You could be birdgender which would encompass gentu and gander?

Best not. Someone might mishear that as third gender and think I was being anti binary.

Back to my original point. the subject really isnt funny.

You’re not in the UK then Place?

No-one has posted anything transphobic at all on here. Transphobia is intolerance of trans people, that’s not at all what’s been going on.

Saying that innate gender is unevidenced is not transphobic. Saying that everyone is non-binary is not transphobic. Even mocking the ludicrous number of arbitrary gender labels isn’t.

To put it bluntly, again, mocking the religious beliefs that are being deliberately promoted with the aim of eroding women’s rights is not an attack on trans people.

I say it is and I identify as the god of humour so my word on the matter is final.

Just curious. You mentioned “tonight”.

No, any kind of -phobia is negative attitudes, assumptions or actions towards one group of people

The poster above who cleverly implied its simply about sex - thats transphobic. Claiming anyone who is trans must have gender dysphoria - transphobic. Mocking and laughing at someone because they are trans - transphobic.

The fact you think trans as a concept has been invented to erode women is so self indulgent I don't even know where to start.

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 16:04

I don't think you are posting in good faith, Places. There seems to be a real (unsubtle) attempt to lure other posters into making the mistake of using terminology that, apparently, isn't allowed on MN (or perhaps just on this particular part of MN). That's rather spiteful and mean, if you don't mind me saying so.

However, I'll answer your questions, re why are people trans - my views.
I think people believe in gender ideology for many reasons. Some are genuinely dysphoric about their own biological and genetic makeup, and I assume there's probably many actual "reasons" for that which I also assume they explore with therapeutic services before they embark on their transition. I think other reasons will vary, from social contagion all the way to trying to escape previous abuses and into those who enjoy various sexual fetishes. Reasons are, I imagine, as individual as, well, individuals. There may well be many people who have multiple factors combining to create their belief that they somehow will be happier or more content pretending to be a different organism from that which they are. I'm also sure there's a proportion that just enjoy having some sort of "power" over others - the power to compel speech, etc etc. As to how those numbers break down, you'll have to do your own research on that.

The cut and thrust of it is how far do we expect the rest of society to bend in order to accommodate these different individuals and their individual needs and wants. I propose that some individuals will be easier to accommodate than others, that some accommodations will be seamless and natural and the blend will be easy. Other accommodations will be jaggy and cause grazes, scrapes and cuts, leaving scars and scabs on other parts of society, in other words, these accommodations will cause some harm to others. Some accommodations will cause a lot of harm to others, depending on circumstances.

I don't personally believe that other people should be asked (or rather, told) to make sacrifices to their own wellbeing (mental, physical, emotional) and lifestyles in order to accommodate another individual's needs and wants.

I expect the thread has moved on since I started to type this, but it was asked, and I've answered as best I can.

I dont think I needed to lure anyone - the above poster implied it was about sex. And on the subject of good faith, if you think im not in good faith, you are suggesting I've come on just to wind up to get people banned - even i'm not that sad. And I'm not sad enough to spend my Sunday afternoon engaging with people unless I was generally interested in trying to get my head round a view I just can't work with. My point was only ever that I'd be banned for using the word transphobia should someone press report, yet some quite frankly vulgar implications have been allowed.

I take your post on board, and I thank you for it. I'm really not a troll.

Metabigot · 26/06/2022 16:07

Ah

I see
As a gc woman I'm not allowed to be agender

Well fuck that

Who are you to say I'm posting in bad faith?

I declare myself to be agender

If you disagree, I declare that you're transphobic as agender falls under the stonewall umbrella

Transphobic bigot!!

nightwakingmoon · 26/06/2022 16:10

D’you know, there’s nothing that all this gender identity stuff reminds me of more, than the hysteria after Princess Diana died. It’s like a whole generation of people have lost their collective heads to some kind of mass irrationalism.

The fact you think trans as a concept has been invented to erode women is so self indulgent I don't even know where to start.

Again with the dishonesty / inability to read properly. I never said that trans as a concept was invented to erode women. I don’t even understand what eroding women would mean, I didn’t say it was invented to erode women’s rights either. Why so many lies? If you had any sort of valid point to make it’d be unnecessary.

You are lying about the meaning of phobia, too.

This is a major issue with you lot. As well the intellect problem you have this determination to change the meaning of common words to try to bolster your arguments.

It’s as though the think that the appendix to 1984 was a how-to manual rather than a warning.

Fortunately those opposed to you are better-educated, better funded, better people, and are winning the argument.

Belovedfool · 26/06/2022 16:15

I don't believe you. You have had some combative moments this afternoon and have been asked some uncomfortable questions, but please don't deny you weren't looking for those moments. You seem to be to be spoiling for a fight and you got one (or rather, several), so congratulations. That's why posters suspect you of screenshot hunting. It's rather common on here, I understand.

Your argument seems to be based on the "don't write things I decide are mean, as there's a tiny chance someone might read them and be upset". That's life. That is absolutely life. We cannot provide safe spaces. Women cannot even get access to a safe space in a woman's refuge for victims of domestic abuse. Words on a forum "might" upset someone..... ffs, get a bloody grip.

"

Thankfully, you are not winning the argument. You might be on MN which is very wonderful, but the vast majority of people are in support of trans and against this form of "feminism". I don't see it changing in my lifetime, and I'm relieved about that.

"looking for these moments"? Do you think I got up this morning and thought, I know ive got nothing better to do with my life than go on MN and look for an argument.

I've gave as good as I got.

I've never screenshotted in my life on MN , to me its a safe space and I wouldn't regardless of how much I disagreed, I genuinely didn't know that is true.

I completely agree about safe spaces, which just shows how much you actually know about me. The problem is a decent debate can't take place because of how flippant and mocking PP are.

nightwakingmoon · 26/06/2022 16:18

Have you just had a username changed by MN throughout the site, @placewherewebelong ?

Not that its any of your business, but no.

I took a break from all of my social media post lockdown. That OK with you?

I'm actually a songwriter and wrote one this morning about the horrendous treatment of women in the US. The big misogynist I am.

Why the constant suggestions I must be a troll? Because I don't agree with peoples views?

placewherewebelong · 26/06/2022 16:23

Out of interest, if I took the "main" side in the debate but spoke in the same way to PP coming in with a different view, would you still think I was a troll?

No. You wouldn't. Youd do what Erek did and congratulate them.

I might have a totally different view, I've been no more or less abrasive than other posters, but I just have a different view. And that's allowed.

I might not respect or understand peoples views but I don't think they're trolls. The screenshotting thing is new to me and I honestly would think anyone who comes on a site like this that people need for a variety of reasons and trolls is a despicable human being.
