Supernature is taking absolutely, absolutely no prisoners. I am 7 minutes in with a mojito in hand.

You two are not helping 😀

PaleBlueMoonlight · 24/05/2022 18:57

Just watched. Very funny and a huge relief to see humour about this. There is comedic value in almost anything and we humans, I think, are much happier people when we can find it. Conversations just like this are actually happening; he is letting us laugh at the absurdity of it all. Very much needed!

BraveBananaBadge · 24/05/2022 18:58

Found this almost as funny as the clip. I think this guy has previous, doesn't he? But this has tickled me all day Grin

Oh dear, there will be stiff bodied tantrums...stiff bodied tantrums everywhere 😂

A fair bit of Mad Angry Crying too, I should imagine.

Honestly struggling to see the problem with what he's saying here - it's exactly what we're told all the time straight from the mouth of SW, in their own words!

If it makes people laugh and isn't great optics when said out loud, the issue would seem to be with the message.

This. He only had to hold up a mirror to reflect the idiocy of the SW position and it is sure fire that people will laugh, because the SW position is that ridiculous. It was pretty easy laughs to be fair, but kudos to him for being straight forward and saying what he sees. Wish more people did. Watching the fall out with interest. But the trashing of the "After Life" bench reflects the immaturity of those who can't cope with a smidgeon of reality.

FinallyHere · 24/05/2022 19:08

Hello @WarriorN you called? 😁

OnlyLosersTakeTheBus · 24/05/2022 19:09

To be fair he does point out that if anyone is in a minority group, it's him (as a heterosexual multimillionaire) and such he's in a perfect position to make jokes about other minority groups Grin

WarriorN · 24/05/2022 19:11

🤣

Are you Ricky or do you identify as Ricky!

puffyisgood · 24/05/2022 11:28

I think the first gag, calling natal women boring/dinosaurs etc is the best part, because it's something that isn't being explicitly highlighted all that often, and the principal butt of the joke is your hyper-woke Owen Jones type.

It gets less funny once he starts punching down, mocking the male physiques of TW [which, of course, they're all too aware of], and then right at the end gets IMO quite unfunny and probably irresponsible when he repeatedly equates TW in toilets with rape.

I don't think the criticism of punching down works very well as a rule. There's just clever comedy and poor comedy, and often that up to individual opinion.

But the very idea that someone/anyone can identify their way into a less privileged group and is therefore beyond being made fun of is bonkers.

GrinAndVomit · 24/05/2022 19:22

A really god point has been raised here.

What is so offensive about what he has said?

He is literally repeating the mantras. How can they be so offended by someone just amplifying their public stance?

Pronouns are sacrosanct.
Male women are more important, valid and superior than female women.
We’re all hateful, bigoted, TERF dinosaurs.

How are the TRA’s so offended by a mirror being held to their core beliefs?

ohdelay · 24/05/2022 19:26

Amidst the outrage, its got people talking who probably weren't that aware of all this

He's joking about being cancelled now but seems to get it at least.

That was just Ricky reading the Green Party London meeting minutes from last night, I believe.

Grin ... but it's true. They're beyond satire. Thank god someone is putting this on stage where it belongs.

Netflix got ahead of this and told its employees if they object to its content they could leave.

So presumably no crying and walk outs like after Chapelle?

The corporations are catching on who's in the majority.

Sadly, I don't think we'll be treated to another Repent Motherfucker demonstration from what I've read recently many of them have left because Netflix refused to bow down over Chappelle and a further 290 have since been axed. It appears that the ones axed were the wokest and prolific social justice warriors on social media, a number of projects have had the plug pulled and those working on them dispatched it seems the projects were on LGBTQ+ issues. Netflix says the lay offs were due to a decline in subscriptions and slow down in revenue, more likely that the viewer numbers for those type of projects did the talking.

Artichokeleaves · 24/05/2022 19:49

That's tragic, the repent motherfucker dance was the funniest thing I'd seen all decade. I was hoping very much for a repeat performance. (Complete with the very polite, excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, as the artist made their way to exorcise the demons)

Clymene · 24/05/2022 19:50

Well I enjoyed that. Made me laugh in places.

I love that fact that he has a proper Berkshire accent. No one does now.

I'm disappointed too, it was a veritable masterpiece. The face of the man who was on the receiving end was perfectly baffled.

Thelikelylass · 24/05/2022 20:02

honestly - don't you sometimes end up going down a twitter wormhole and mentally playing the hogwart's sorting hat game, "you're an good egg"... "nope, you drank the Kool Aid"... "good egg"..."Kool Aid drinker"...

BraveBananaBadge · 24/05/2022 20:02

All that and the 'jokes are funny' placard that wound them all up so much Grin

mirax · 24/05/2022 20:11

Gervais is on The One Show about now. Someone please tell me how it went. I am not in the UK.

Ah yes, of course they did! That was a good statement they released.

Datun · 24/05/2022 20:21

That skit has been played out in real life on Twitter, over and over.

Who hasn't seen women writing long paragraphs about sex offenders in female prisons, and saying his penis, and then being jumped on my TRAs at the end, saying her penis, her penis, you bigot!

All very deliberately deadly serious and intimidating.

And now Gervais has just blown a fucking massive hole through the batshittery.

The TRA juxtaposition of utterly focusing on the pronouns, and completely ignoring the crimes, is what makes it absolutely ripe for a massive piss take.

And mocking things robs them of their power.

Something that Gervais knows only too well.

BootsAndRoots · 24/05/2022 20:23

I'm still waiting for the figures detailing how many trans people were murdered after Netflix aired the Chappelle show.

So tired of the "this will lead to the deaths of trans people...". Hasn't happened so far, whilst the suicide rate of those who transition and realise it hasn't solved their problems remains high.

governorofthebankofmum · 24/05/2022 20:32

I don't find him all that funny usually, but I certainly intend to watch this.

"Punch up/punch down" I don't care - as long as it's funny.
