The twitter account for the theatre group behind the Family Sex Show (@ThisEgg_) has revealed that there are performances planned of the Family Sex Show despite the cancellation of the national tour and they are looking for more venues to take them on.
It seems that the Bath performance(s) is/are running.

I am livid about that BBC article and have written to complain. HOW DARE the BBC act like there is nothing wrong with this obscenity!

theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 23:00

The BBC and the Guardian have made incredibly serious errors here.

Mysterioso · 19/04/2022 23:03
Grin By gollie, who'd 'a thunk it? Some mamas and papas are so scared of being bad people that they let their primary school aged children watch strangers simulating sex. Grin Some parents have been woke for so long they can't think through the sleep deprivation.

@theDudesmummy

The BBC and the Guardian have made incredibly serious errors here.
It's a pattern in the media that sees itself as progressive.

I had an experience with the CBC where there was a story unfolding where they had a strong editorial bias, though I didn't realize it so much at the time. And as it was unfolding I kept thinking - this is a bit odd. Why don't they ask these questions, so it makes sense? And they were really pretty basic questions, like, who are the other people involved in this?

It became more and more odd, and the finally after a number of weeks, a journalist from another media group did ask a few questions, and the whole thing started to fall apart, and they dropped the story like a hot potato without really addressing it.

And at that point it seemed clear to me that at some level they were not asking those questions purposefully, either because they knew the answers or did not want to know in case they were the wrong ones. Both being equally evil, from the standpoint of journalistic ethics, IMO.

Mysterioso · 19/04/2022 23:08

Oh and definitely kudos to the beeb for such a carefully worded article that it never mentions lgbt, inclusion or gender identity.
I mean sex ed is being rebranded as sexuality education right under our noses Hmm

That is a master class in obfuscation by the most impartial journalists for sure.

turbonerd · 19/04/2022 23:13

Well, I am glad to have read to the end thus far. Hm, that is not quite the right phrase, but I am glad posters moved on from «useful idiots» to stating clearly just how sinister the orchestration of this is.
And realise I finally have to cancel the subscription for the Guardian. Bloody hell.

DebtheSander · 20/04/2022 07:31

Morning all, I notice that the BBC news article has disappeared from their main stories. Still on the website if you search for it but not highly visible. Hmmm

capncrunch · 20/04/2022 07:56

Libsoftiktok is a very good account to follow on twitter and exposes the grooming that LBTQ+ teachers do with our children.

Iliveinacarboardbox · 20/04/2022 09:06

Someone who supports this is claiming that sex is part of life of people of all ages. This person’s spouse recently killed themselves after being found to have a huge amount of child abuse images. I am very disturbed by this.

ANGRYofBath · 20/04/2022 09:10

I'm really sorry if this has been mentioned anywhere, I've not managed to read every thread on this.

Is anyone planning a protest in Bath? I'm in Bath and haven't heard anything about the show from local sources.

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 09:21

If the "invited audience" in Bath contains even one person under 16 then the police should be called to investigate. Would anyone be able to be there to se who goes in?

ResisterRex · 20/04/2022 10:09

That BBC article is irresponsible in how uncritical and uninterested it is in the idea - for example- of what the show called "non-sexual nudity". What is that for 5+? Why didn't they ask before regurgitating these kinds of lines?

Worse, they repeated the line that audience were given information. They were not. The crucial page never appeared.

They also don't explain what the concerns were that people had. But of course they don't. Because doing that would involve exposing all of what they have uncritically swallowed.

Shameful.

DisappearingGirl · 20/04/2022 10:21

Apologies if it's already been posted, but I think this piece in The Critic (actually linked from the Guardian article) is an excellent explanation of the problems with this show. I posted it in the AIBU thread too:

littlbrowndog · 20/04/2022 10:26

Yes very good piece

capncrunch · 20/04/2022 10:27

How has it got to the stage where we've allowed these groomers to get access to young children?

Clymene · 20/04/2022 10:42

School of Sex Education had this blog on their website but have recently deleted it: <a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20201201103921/schoolofsexed.org/blog-articles/2020/11/9/why-is-everyone-being-mean-to-jk-rowling" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://web.archive.org/web/20201201103921/schoolofsexed.org/blog-articles/2020/11/9/why-is-everyone-being-mean-to-jk-rowling

These people are paid to go into schools and teach our children about RSE. And this is the sort of nonsense they're pushing.

The author is female

BraveBananaBadge · 20/04/2022 11:17

I think the author says they are a trans woman Clymene?

I couldn't get through the whole thing as it was such a pile of dishonest, immature, ignorant bilge. At the (very) least it has been deleted.

Comparing trans women who don't do anything to present as female as akin to women who wear baggy t-shirts is quite the take. Never mind the idea it's not right to send death threats to JKR - who almost single-handedly got the government to ‘roll back trans rights’, apparently - only because it could make you look like the bad guy.

I guess I always just had everything crossed my DCs wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for any of this as they get older. But with this sort of fact-free, emotive poison dripping in their ears everywhere online, it's got to be so hard for young people to see through it. This whole debacle is indicative of such a wider problem and it is such a worry now.

IvyTwines · 20/04/2022 11:18

According to a Twitter post, they've had nearly £40,000 of Arts Council funding over the last two years for this.

Clymene · 20/04/2022 11:30

I looked the author up a@BraveBananaBadge - definitely born female, not male. But yes, i agree with your analysis. Really hard to read to the end.

BraveBananaBadge · 20/04/2022 11:34

Ah yes, just refers to being trans in the piece.

tabbycatstripy · 20/04/2022 11:35

The PCC for Bath and Somerset is aware of this performance (and the animal bit) and has tweeted that he is ‘aware’ and ‘dealing with partners over this’.

You’re right, this is a good article. Full of salient points.

One point that struck me was the message that parents would be sending to others if they choose to take their children to this show. That their own boundaries as a parent are weak. That they are groom-able because as the parent, they are showing that they can’t see risks for their own children.

Abusers don’t just groom children, do they? They groom the whole family. The content of this show, and the accompanying website, opens the door for whole families to be groomed.

The desire to be seen to be inclusive and progressive at every turn has resulted in risk to children.

I have no words.
