The Family Sex Show to continue, despite widespread outrage

MatthewJTaylor · 19/04/2022 10:34

The twitter account for the theatre group behind the Family Sex Show (@ThisEgg_) has revealed that there are performances planned of the Family Sex Show despite the cancellation of the national tour and they are looking for more venues to take them on.
It seems that the Bath performance(s) is/are running.

“Remember: not all women have vulvas, and not all vulvas belong to women.” In fat bold letters.

Nothing similar appears in relation to the penis. Why?

KimikosNightmare · 19/04/2022 19:46
I wish I had a subscription to the Guardian so I could cancel it. This really is the final straw.
TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 19/04/2022 19:51

I was infuriated by the News on Radio 4 at 7pm.

Not going ahead because they have received "threatening tweets (etc.)"

Until the newsreader said that, I had been thinking that it was called off because if its content

MoltenLasagne · 19/04/2022 19:57

That BBC article has made me so fucking angry. Thousands of people raise concerns about the content and its dismissed as threatening tweets.

Shortpoet · 19/04/2022 20:00

They’re using a guardian article to give themselves legitimacy. Quote at end implies the show helps with safeguarding.

Same here! I think I'm going to complain about the way that was portrayed. It was like the show was the victim having been receiving threats FFS.

The sooner the bbc is defunded the better.

tabbycatstripy · 19/04/2022 20:06

‘They’re using a guardian article to give themselves legitimacy’

Good luck with that.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 19/04/2022 20:14

It is astonishing (or not) that that BBC article does not set out what the objections were, does not set out the safeguarding issues and does not cover the Children's Act.

NecessaryScene · 19/04/2022 20:20

Such is the joy of being part of the elite untouchable caste - nothing you can do is wrong, and any time you're forced to back down, it's not because you were wrong, it's because you were attacked.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/04/2022 21:02

Seems to be following the "paedophile plan" to the letter...

Because misogyny is now in vogue even on the left. And because the whole site is male-focused in its approach.

It's staggering how all linked bits of this agenda depend on captive media feeding only very, very limited information to the public.

It's as if they fucking know that if they were honest the general public would be bloody horrified.

Captive media, enabling increasingly obviously dodgy stuff to be lied about. And the BBC doing it on fucking tax payer money.

ChillyPanda · 19/04/2022 21:27

I worked as a mums help in a nursery. One of my learnings was that it children are masturbating / acting in a secularised way it's a sign of child abuse 🤷🏼‍♀️. Now it's a sign they've all been invited to the 'family sex show' .. where are the boundaries going to be ?

tabbycatstripy · 19/04/2022 21:31

Of course. “My parents took me to watch people on stage and they said it’s good to touch yourself.”

Nowhere does the linked Guardian article mention the approx 37,000 signature petition. Just few loud people though.

And threats of violence.

Threats of violence are always wrong, but these articles are just the press release by the Family Sex Show with absolutely no extra research done. This is incredibly biased! I am so sad that I can no longer read the Guardian, and even sadder that I used to send them money.

Iliveinacarboardbox · 19/04/2022 22:33

Honestly. I have rejoined mumsnet because I am losing my shit over this. I can and can’t believe this was going to go ahead and how appalled people in theatre think this is. Someone has just posted on twitter in ‘solidarity’ with the project and said how sex, bodies and gender are part of life and the world at all ages. Sex is not part of life for a five year old. I am so angry.

EarthSight · 19/04/2022 22:35

Encouraging children to Google this is insanity at best, or knowing abuse at worst. Is anyone really that thick??

EarthSight · 19/04/2022 22:38

Also, I feel sorry for the children who have thick/abusive/negligent parents who would have exposed them to this material, children who will end up Googling things and seeing horrific images as a result, no doubt bestiality content will be amongst those images. Somehow I don't think their parents will be the type to make sure they have adequate filters at home, maybe leaving to the child to 'explore' the world on their own.

Fuckwits.

@MoltenLasagne Saw this. They are reporting on it focusing mainly on death threats which might be factual, but the article seems to pose the show organisers as victims.
FrancescaContini · 19/04/2022 22:42

@tabbycatstripy

They’ve created a page so people can ‘have a go’ at exploring some of the ‘themes’.

Let’s see...

I’ve clicked twice and I’m on ‘draw some animals that you think masturbate’.

Absolute filth.

Jesus Christ Angry
nepeta · 19/04/2022 22:50

The website also explains such important concepts for a five-year-old to understand as pegging and play parties for BSDM (Bondage, Sadism, Dominance, and Masochism). And TERF!

turbonerd · 19/04/2022 22:52

Haven’t yet got to the end of the thread, but already here at page 3 it is quite clear that the makers and proponents of this show know EXACTLY what they are aiming for.
And it is not education.

sjxoxo · 19/04/2022 22:54

Just posted this on the other thread about them but here’s the petition if anyone wants to sign:
citizengo.org/en/node/207302?utm_source=link&utm_medium=social&utm_content=tyflow&utm_campaign=

There’s already 39,000 signatures and apparently they have said there is ‘small opposition’ to the show!! This is crazy. Presumably it’s entry with a bought ticket- surely no one will go? I can’t believe anywhere is even prepared to host this…

theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 22:58

Oh those behind the show and the kink-laden website, both aimed at young children, know EXACTLY what they are doing. I know the techniques and strategies of these people in fine detail.
