Correction I stand corrected

"Swearwords and offensive language
It's not our policy to delete swearwords (we're all adults, after all) but we do draw the line at obscenity, racist, ageist, disablist, homophobic or transphobic language, and wording that is truly awful."

Absurdle · 15/04/2022 11:44

My worry is this shadow cabinet change their tune ONLY to get elected. Then it’s as you were.

this is what seems to be happening. They are trying not to say overtly stupid stuff that people will laugh at, and paying lip service to the idea that women aren't men, but until they actually commit to a policy that allows women to organise our own spaces in peace, it's all just weaselly bullshit.

I'm hoping the trans bubble has burst completely by the time the election comes around, but the captured are so entrenched in institutions that part of me thinks they'll just dig in until the public gets bored and stops paying attention and then start the assault on womens' rights all over again.

@FOJN

Excuse me a moment

FUCK OFF
FUCK OFF
FUCK OFF
FUCK OFF
FUCK OFF
FUCK OFF

As you were

Can I add: Fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Please fuck off until you come to a gate with a sign on it that says 'No Fucking Off Beyond This Point'. Then dream the impossible dream, climb that gate and keep fucking off from there.
FOJN · 15/04/2022 11:47

If an op asks a question etc, what's the point if people were just swearing, or cursing ect ? Yes we may be frustrated, angry ect, but why resort to crude words, when we can debate and have consecutive analysis to develop the topic and understanding more ?

Thank you for your feedback. Could you use this thread to give me an example of what you're talking about so that I might better understand what the approved way of expressing myself is.

Alternatively you could stop wasting your time policing my comments because I don't actually give a shit if the language offends you.

I don't need to police the threads as unless I'm mistaken, swearing is against mumsnets rules

You are mistaken, so I guess you do need to police the threads then? You'll be very busy; it's a big site.

Does anyone know if being the self-appointed thread police is against the rules, by the way?

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 15/04/2022 11:49

I’m sure MN were using ‘the sweary one with all the biscuits’ as a strapline at some point.

I already admitted I stand corrected on the swearing point, and my intentions were just asking posters why they curse and heckle, rather than engage with the ops question.
BordoisAgain · 15/04/2022 11:52

So far all you've done is told other people how they should be posting. Still waiting on your well thought out analysis on the topic hawkins .

I haven't told posters, I ask them why, that's my difference, for me usually when I comment on x thread, it's to take part in the ops question or part of the discussion of the ops question via other posters, I don't see the point in just swearing for the sake of it, as at oxford, we was taught that it adds no useful information or debate to the subject matter at hand.
Absurdle · 15/04/2022 11:57

at oxford was you taught subject-verb agreement?

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 15/04/2022 11:58

Sometimes it can be good just to vent before getting on to engaging.

FOJN · 15/04/2022 11:59

Go and start a thread on swearing on Mumsnet, you won't be the first person to feel the need to control the way women express themselves, but stop derailing this one.

How asking a person why they do swear, equate to trying to control the behaviour ? Please enlighten me with your thoughts, so I can understand better ?

I don't necessarily agree, but I respect your perspectives and appreciate your analysis.

I don't know if this is genuinely a one-man quixotic anti-swearing crusade that of course focuses on the feminism board, or if the motivations for derailing are more familiar and only the form of it is different, but he's openly admitting his intention to derail the conversation here. For fuck's sake.

My swearing perspectives were originally debated on the threads of the head of mi6 and one thread on boris. And how exactly in your perspectives am I openly trying to derail a thread, when I'm just answering other mumsnetters comments ?
RedToothBrush · 15/04/2022 12:07

Ah the slow uturn

Encourage it even if its fucking annoying and you know shes no spine and was happy to throw women under the bus.

Give her room to get to the point where she fully is reverse ferretting.

Unfortunately shes probably going to stay an mp for the forseeable, but Id rather she was suddenly realising the line she was taking was an utter crock of shit rather than her doubling down like some.

They aren't even changing their tune are they? Just slightly less brazing about it.

("Brazing" is a great word! My brain interprets it as a cross between brazen and abrasive - the TRA who invented it was, as always, projecting.)

carefullycourageous · 15/04/2022 12:12

Ah the slow uturn

In politics people are always changing positions.

What concerns me is this issue is getting wrapped up in Johnson's culture wars and that's not good.

Sillydoggy · 15/04/2022 12:15

I don't think there is any u turning, unfortunately. I think that Labour believe they can con women into thinking they have changed by these small linguistic concessions. People like JP are definitely being sanctioned to say there is a difference between sex and gender but at no point is anyone in Labour (xpt for Rosie Duffield) saying sex is more important than gender and single sex spaces are for one sex only.

This is just smoke and mirrors.

bellinisurge · 15/04/2022 12:15

"I already admitted I stand corrected on the swearing point, and my intentions were just asking posters why they curse and heckle, rather than engage with the ops question."

I'm the op. I don't mind a bit of fucking swearing. This shit tries the patience of a saint.
