Oh so THIS is what the why of Twitter’s latest collective tantrum regarding The Crimes Of Grindelwald’s Creator is.
The absolute SCANDAL of these women with their Wrong Views daring to congregate! Publicly! So brazen! Claiming that their concern for the rights of women & girls to have access to same-sex spaces & services sit naturally within actual centuries of feminist thought & action! WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?! (Or just make up some dodgy stats about them, that works too if you’re a TRA…)
As a bonus, apparently “commenting on a reposted interview” is “digging up” - The Evil TERF!Army cyber division must be the ones who painstakingly unearthed Emma Watson’s interview with Paris Lees; but it is The Massed Hordes who have terrible cruelly attacked poor Emma for her “oh gosh yes, you MUST pee next to me” routine. Rowling, of course, is at fault for not publicly condemning the DREADFUL misogynistic abuse Watson is receiving (aka people disagreeing, sometimes stridently… & one of the Seriously Shocking-Bad tweets called her a twat). Also JKR is secretly sending some/most of said abuse; Because Cartoonish Villainy.
It is quite cringingly embarrassing that so many adults are totally unable to understand that robust criticisms of what Watson’s said are perfectly legitimate; & that criticisms of women are not automatically misogynistic. All very revealing, of course, about how many of the individuals in question view & understand the identity they claim. Must be quite the upset to discover that Misogyny Doesn’t Work Like That. You know, it’s almost as if they thought they could use it the same way they have “transphobia!” for years
